Great stay experience

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at All Hooked Up for our family reunion. It was wondeful. Plenty of space, very nice house, and very responsive staff. Not to mention the price was great for ocean view. Would do it again.

All Messed Up. House has multiple problems and needs lots of updating!

  • 1 of 5

Sent this email after our disastrous end of the week. Rental agency had assured me over the phone we would receive a refund...never happened! Refused my calls and emails! "The first part of our week went very well with little or no problems. On Wednesday, 27 July, we returned from the beach to find the temperature in the kitchen/dinning room at 85 degrees while the thermostat was set at 75. It was obvious that the A/C had quit and was not functioning properly. The temp continued to rise in the late afternoon/evening hours to the point where we were unable to really cook or enjoy dinner in that part of the house. After notifying Jerry (the owner) of the problem he assured me that the MX man would come on Thursday morn to alleviate the problem. He indeed came and got the A/C unit to work again, albeit in a limited capacity. On Thursday evening the temp in the kitchen was 80 degrees and struggled to make it any cooler. The MX man had informed me that the other three A/C units had been replaced recently and that this particular unit was going to need to be replaced soon as well. At approximately 11:30 pm Thursday night after we had all turned in for the night, all of the house’s smoke alarms went off throughout the house and the entire house woke up to investigate the problem. I notified Jerry of this problem some time after midnight by leaving a voice mail on his phone. There was no sign of fire/smoke and after an hour of listening to these alarms (and trying to figure the source of the problem) we finally noticed that in the downstairs bedroom, water was pouring thru the smoke alarm. At that point we realized that the alarms were most likely going off due to a shorting out of the smoke alarms due to the water. We then grabbed chairs, stools, and whatever we could find to disconnect all of the alarms in the house so we could at least have peace. We also at this time did everything that we could to collect the water into buckets/trash cans and towels to save the carpet from getting saturated. Not knowing the source of the water, we had no way to stop the flow of water but only to contain it and prevent further damage to the carpet/floors. The water was leaking into the bedroom in multiple areas and we did all we could to contain it. I would like to point out that we did all we could to collect the water and prevent any damage as if it was our own house. Everyone pitched in and helped to mitigate the potential damage.

Owner's Response: Please note, this customer DID receive a refund check from property manager , # 4633 for $1,000. The customer knew the refund would be in check form coming through the mail once it was cleared with the owner. We never refused a call, we spoke to Kevin several times. This check did clear our account. All claims of not receiving a refund are false. For any customer wanting proof, you can email us to receive a copy of this cleared check with the back signed by the customer. We are so sorry this customer feels All Hooked Up only deserves 1 star. While it is horribly unfortunate the ac leaked into one of the bedroom ceilings during the middle of the night, it was very unexpected for us as well. This leak caused the smoke detectors to go off and make a noise. This small leak was contained to one section of a master bedroom. Our maintenance man as well as a heating & air man did come out and address the problem. We did get a brand new unit after this one failed during the middle of this guests stay. The other 2 parts of the home do have their own ac- and were completely usable. The guest called us to say the entire party was leaving one day early and requested a refund, which we gave them. Overall, this was an unseen circumstance. The home itself is exactly as pictured, and you can clearly see it is not a 1 star home. Although this home is booked year round & back to back, many guest do not leave a review unless it is to leave a negative comment. There is no other complaints about this home from the renter besides the leak. We truly hate this happened during the guest stay, and apologized & sent repair immediately. In total, this home is not deserving of only 1 star based on an unfortunate circumstance.

Plenty of Room in All Hooked Up

  • 5 of 5

We had 9 adults, 7 teenage boys and 2 teenage girls and there was plenty of room for everyone! This house is beautifully decorated and the pictures on vrbo don't do it justice ...the house has two separate areas on the ground floor (each with 2 bedrooms and living areas and kitchens)...then each side connects up to the main floor where there is a huge kitchen and dining areas. Plenty of room for entertaining, the deck is great..the view is great and the beds were very comfortable!! Jerry and the whole Jolly Roger shop staff were great to deal with too! Only issue we had was with the Viking refrigerator upstairs - we couldn't get the programming down (freezer too warm at first, then the fridge side was warm by the end of our stay)...but it was partly our fault for not calling about it sooner...I'm sure it would have been fixed if we called the first day. Other than that the house was awesome and we would stay there again in a heartbeat!! The town of Apalachicola is so cute and definitely worth visiting for dining and shopping!

Poorly maintained and Not worth price

  • 2 of 5

Its a great location, easy access to beach and plenty of room big for groups…but….

We paid a huge price tag for a home that simply is not well kept, nor operating:

-refrigerator and freezer did not work. We threw out lots of food, melted ice cream, and by the end of the week had to store dairy and meat products in our coolers.

Similarly, the oven cooked uneven and ruined one baked chicken dinner (for 12!)

Siding on the house was missing and allowed a bird to get into the attic one night…flapping and wildly noisy until early light allowed the bird to find an exit. Siding simply hanging open.

Outside grill is a beat up, dirty and flaring "home depot" product.

And we paid $400 dollars to heat the pool (ocean to cold in April). the pool never came close to even getting mildly cool…it was a total waste of $400 extra dollars.

All in all i would pass this one by until the owner finds a much better property manager and new appliances. You expect much more at this price point.

Search no more!

we had 8 adults ( 3 couples), 2 singles,and 2 kids (7 & 12).

There's enough room for everyone to have privacy, the bottom is divided into 2 "houses" each with their own kitchen, so we don't even have to see each other if we don't want to. Every kitchen has everything you need, all plates, bowls match, same with silverware, pans, pots and cutting boards are all clean and work great, no cheap stuff here..

Beds super comfy! The bottom right master has a shower and a jacuzzi bathtub ❤️, the left side is where the elevator is, and the master bedroom is all handicap friendly, which I'm glad we had it because my dad hurt his knee a few days before the reunion.. Pool is clean and the grill works great too. The top floor is a party starter or a place for all to socialize, I loved the big table!! Again the kitchen has enough to feed at least 20, plates- silverware all nice also.

This property was the first to answer our info request and they were very friendly and uncomplicated about "check-in and out" process.

There's games for the kids, lots of them! I couldn't ask for a better place. Family from Germany and Switzerland were impressed!!

Thanks for sharing your house with us!!
