There are the inevitable suns framing special nooks throughout the property. Colorful concrete benches, comfortable outside furniture, couches, swings and hammocks are discovered as you investigate the grounds. Walk down the colorful steps to the stream area where jungle abundance surrounds you. In certain seasons the small stream becomes a trickle but the path it cuts into the banana jungle is always peaceful and prefect for sharing long conversations, reading that great book or simply sitting in quiet contemplation.

About Ciella Gabriel, owner

We bought the Hacienda so that I could explore my passion for gardening. I can not pass up a new plant and have so much fun adding and rearranging the gardens. We love to boogie board so like the location in Boquete where we are just a few hours away from the beach but can enjoy the moderate temperatures right here everyday. The vista in Boquete are breathtaking. We hike and walk when ever possible and thoroughly enjoy meeting our guests from all over the world and sharing what we know about our area. We have been here over 10 years and feel like it is perfect for us.

Why Ciella Gabriel, owner chose Panama

The Hacienda is situated in Jaramillo Centro overlooking Boquete's village area. We are a 10 minute drive from town or a 20 minute walk. The property feels quite secluded yet we are relatively close to town. We wanted an area where we could have loads of flowers, experiment with growing exotic tropical orchids but have internet access, and all the conveniences. We hike right from our front door.

What makes this house unique

We decided to provide a luxurious feel at an affordable price. Sharing the gardens and the pathways to our guest gives us so much pleasure. It is a rare combination to be able to have a great price, a lovely meal, beautiful room and gardens to explore. Boquete is a wonderful place to explore and we have lived here 10 years and love sharing our wealth of knowledge with our guests.

Loved the property, owners, and breakfast was delicious

  • 5 of 5

John and I stayed with Ciella and

Quincy at their wonderful Hacienda. Quincy was so helpful with dinner ideas, we just had dinner after Ciella's very filling breakfast! He also helped us find the best bird guide, Cesar at Finca Lireda, and other great excursions! And Ciella shared so much of their love for Boquette, how they juggle family back home and running a business! We are seriously considering a longer visit to this lovely town!

Thank you both !!

PERFECT FOR US - THANK YOU QUINCY & CEILLA!!

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed at La Hacienda for five nights during the Annual Jazz & Blues Festival. Ceilla & Quincy were very welcoming and provided perfect directions and area information. The breakfast each morning was superb – lots of fruit, delicious egg dishes, yogurt with muffins and wonderful jams and terrific French press coffee. The Villa with all the outdoor living areas is charming and exactly as shown in photos. The road up is an adventure but worth it to a beautiful setting. The perfect place to wind up our long days with some great wine. Highly recommend and we plan to be back.

4 senior citizens.

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at La Hacienda was very relaxing and the owners could not have been more accommodating and helpful with suggestions for our time in Boquete. The breakfast each morning was super and served when ever we wanted it. Fresh fruit was wonderful and the hot egg dishes, perfect. We had a rental car so were able to drive into town for all it has to offer. It was probably our favorite town in all of Panama. The villa itself was beautifully decorated and had everything we could have wanted including hot water. The only reason we would not give this property a 5 star is the location. Without a car, the walk into town was impossible for us. The walking trails through the beautiful flower and fruit gardens were steep and not what we expected. That said, we are 4 persons in our 70s, so our needs are different from people who enjoy hiking. I am sure others would enjoy the walk into town. I would fly back to Panama over a long weekend, just to have the fish tacos at Big Daddy's.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your kind remarks. We appreciate hearing them and also take into consideration areas where we can improve. Everyone perceives thing differently. We have had many folks who are well into their senior years that do not rent cars, explore the entire property and walk the pathway to town. We caution everyone about the uneven, Panamanian style stairway (the short cut) before they venture to town... and it might not be everyone's cup of tea but that is why we give our clients local cell phones and a list of taxi drivers. Even without walking down to the streambed, there are areas to enjoy the garden from a variety of terraces set up for optimum bird watching, chatting and relaxing. Thank you for visiting The Hacienda. We appreciate your visit with us very much and look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Outstanding Stay in Boquete

  • 5 of 5

My wife, myself, and her sister and husband had a wonderful three night stay at the Hacienda B&B. The place was immaculate and located in a very private, beautifully landscaped setting. We drove down from San Jose, Costa Rica and arrived much later than expected, at night. The owners, Quincy and Ciella, met us at a restaurant in Boquete and we followed them to the property. They were extremely friendly and accommodating, which made our trip even more enjoyable; you could not ask for better hosts. Breakfast each morning was so fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and a great start for the day. We played golf at Lucero (sp), which is an absolutely beautiful course, and one I'd put near the top of the list for "nicest courses ever played", and it's only 20 minutes or so away from the Hacienda. We, and one other threesome, were the only players on the entire course. The last bit of road getting up to the Hacienda is a little tricky at night if it's raining, but not that bad if you're paying attention. We missed a turn onto a dirt road one night on our way back to the property, and have no idea how we did it, but ended up several miles back up the main highway before we found civilization again. You just need to keep your eyes peeled for the turns. We now understand why the owners meet you in town and lead you up the hill. The restaurants in Boquete are great. We got hooked on the Fish House and ate there twice. Boquete, and especially the Hacienda, is a definite "go back" experience. If you're from Costa Rica, the prices in Panama are great, comparatively speaking. There are several large chains, not unlike Target, including hardware stores offering a good selection of goods. I bought a number of things at great prices that I had on my "next return trip from the States list". Again, the prices were exceptional. Gas, if you're driving is about $2.80 per gallon; we're about a dollar more in Costa Rica, but I think Panama is bit higher compared to current fuel costs in the States. A great trip.

Owner's Response: Hello and thank you so much for the nice review. We really enjoyed your company and hope that you travel to Panama again and tell your Costa Rican friends about us. We have ordered directional signs so there should not be another problem with finding The Hacienda. Once our guests have been here they rarely have a problem. The signs should assist our guests day or night. Thank you again for choosing The Hacienda.
