Welcome to my listing. This property is managed by Sunny Day Vacations who also manages seven other properties at the Alexandra resort on Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Please read this listing carefully as there have been significant changes regarding the resort amenities, which went into effect on April 1, 2016.

Also please see the links to our Sunny Day Vacations website as well as the TCI VIP club website which will now provide the majority of amenities for this property. We are so excited to be able to include so many extra amenities via the TCI VIP club that are not offered when you book directly through the resort. Not only are you getting a great price but you are also getting an improved experience by booking through Sunny Day Vacations directly.

Just down a path from the pool, you will walk onto the white sands of Grace Bay Beach which is now the official Tripadvisor 2016 Travelers choice number one beach in the world!

A bedroom with queen size bed will give you the separate space you desire to spread out and settle in for the week…or take a little time to yourself! Attached to the bedroom is a beautifully updated bathroom with a double vanity, glass shower and a soothing tub. For nights in, stretch out on the couch make use of the flat screen TV and DVD player. If coming home with suitcase full of wet bathing suites from your daytime excursions isn’t in your plans, take advantage of the in-unit washer and dryer.

IMPORTANT CHANGE AS OF APRIL 1ST 2016:The resort has imposed some conditions and regulations regarding their amenities for VRBO guests including use of the pool chairs and pool towels. We understand that you may have concerns about being treated differently than a resort guest. Since this change was implemented we have not had a single complaint or unpleasant experience.

THE USE OF THE POOL WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE TO ALL OWNERS AND VRBO GUEST, however at this time, any guest other than those booked directly through the resort, will not be able to utilize the pool chairs, or the resort owned towels. The resort further restricts anyone from bringing outside towels to the pool area. This includes any chair or towel provided by us. Our private group invites our guests to take pleasure in amenities including property-wide free WiFi, complimentary non-motorized water sports, bicycle rentals, tennis courts, and a fitness facility. Also on site, schedule spa services, a barefoot beach dinner or visit the amazing Asu on the Beach restaurant where neither food nor service will disappoint!

As mentioned above, as of April 1st, 2016 the above amenities will still be included but will be provided directly by the owners through the TCI VIP CLUB. Again, you can get more information on this by visiting

About Sunny

I am an emergency physician living in downtown Chicago. I have traveled the Caribbean for years and had planned to purchase vacation property there for many years. During my travels I would meet other vacationers and would hear time and time again that the Turks and Caicos Islands was there favorite Caribbean destination. After my first visit there in October 2013 I was sold! Nothing could compare to the white sand and turquoise waters of Grace Bay Beach.

Why Sunny chose Providenciales

The Alexandra is one of the most popular resorts on the Island. It offers luxury accommodations at a budget price. It is conveniently located in the heart of Grace Bay Beach. During my many visits I have found the staff to be exceedingly warm and friendly. It has top notch food and beverage service and is loaded with amenities including multiple complimentary water sports. I have been so impressed by the resort I quickly made the decision to purchase multiple units at the resort after my first visit.

Perfect Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Alexandra unit 3019 owned by Sunny Day Vacations in Turks and Caicos. This was our third time at the resort but our first with Sunny Day Vacations. The trip was perfect from start to finish. We were greeted at the resort by Jam our concierge for the week. Jam always had a smile on her face, was full of information and took care of anything we needed! The room was clean and bright with plenty of room for our family of 4. The unit has a washer/dryer ... my daughter has many allergies and Jam took the time to find the special laundry detergent that my daughter needs. Sunny Day Vacations had recommended Sonny Taxi for our stay ... they were timely and a pleasure to ride with! The beach butlers provided through the TCI VIP club were fabulous! There were always enough chairs and umbrellas and they had a constant supply of cold water! We especially had such nice conversations with Charnele! Sunny Day vacations is professional and accommodating, payment schedules were provided and payments were easy to make. We highly recommend Sunny Day vacations, this unit and this resort in beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands!

Had so much fun I am going back next year

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this unit in April and we loved it. Jam met us at the front door and showed us everything that we needed. She is such a wonderful and helpful person. The unit was in great condition and very clean. The beach butler, Alrick, was the best. He has such a great personality, and goes out of his way to help you. He is also very knowledgeable about the resort and the island. We could walk to town which we did, but we also used the bicycles that were there. Even with the changes that have been made, I did not notice a difference. We used the pool a few times, but why go to the pool when you have that beautiful beach. The food at the restaurant was excellent and there was one bartender, Rommel, who goes above and beyond. We went with another couple and all of us are returning next year. It was a week in paradise. After hearing about my trip, many people have asked for Sonny's information.

We had a great vacation!

  • 5 of 5

I am giving this rental 5 stars because it met, and in several ways, exceeded our expectations!

Everything went smoothly for us with booking / communication from Sunny & Neena.

From the timely/professional/warm Sonny taxi for our transfers to & from the airport.... to Jam, our sweet /cheerful concierge & housekeeper; to Joseph, our beach butler, who greeted us with a friendly smile & cold bottled water....  it truly felt like everyone involved wanted us to have a great experience.   Bonus: Beach loungers, umbrellas, beach towels & robes were all brand new!

If you understand how expensive the island is, this can be considered a great, budget-friendly option. Do your homework / think hard about what your needs are /what will make you happy. We didn't require an ocean view and really liked being on the first floor; it is a very short walk to the beach. If you have a rental car, it will be right outside your door, we found this to be so convenient!  We came for the beach and it is wonderful.  If you were hoping to lay by the pool in a lounge chair, this might not be ideal for you.

I felt the photos were a pretty accurate representation of what the unit looked like.

Unit was clean and felt spacious. The a/c worked great.  We felt very safe at the resort!

We had breakfast & lunch in and absolutely LOVED dinners out at Coco Bistro & Lupo!

The only negatives for us: The bed was not the most comfortable and made noise with any movement.  Also, I didn't realize how much smaller a queen would feel vs a king.

When I booked, a beach towel exchange was offered, but due to (understandable) unforeseen circumstances was no longer an option when we arrived. You will be washing your own beach towels. But overall, we had a great stay!

Tips for budget-savvy travelers:  Just to give you some perspective on Turks grocery prices... a bag of 8 frozen Tyson Chicken tenders cost $17 USD.  Consider bringing from home as many dry goods as you can.  I brought (in my checked luggage) things like Coffee, sugar, bread, English muffins, PB&J, ramen, canned tuna, mayo, Mac & cheese, snacks, protein bars, ziplock bags, aluminum foil, laundry detergent pods.  Sunny's suggestion to purchase liquor at the Duty free shop before boarding at our home airport was great / half the cost of island prices!!

This was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had.   Thank you Sunny & Neena!

Our week in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Alexandra Resort. We have been to T&C many times as a couple but this was our 1st time bringing our boys. We chose the Alexandra because of its many amenities: basketball, tennis court, water sports, pool and gym. T&C is a quieter more relaxing island, perfect for us, but we thought the boys, 17 & 18, might enjoy some additional activities. I have to say I was a bit concerned after learning that The Alexandra was not going to let VRBO guest access to some of their amenities! This proved not to be a big deal AT ALL while we were at T&C. We were treated like VIP for sure! Our boys got in the pool 1 time the entire week and there honestly wasn't really anyone hanging out at the pool much at all.

The unit we stayed at was very comfortable. It is exactly as described on VRBO. We had our lunch on the patio each day as a family along with our frozen drinks! Our favorite part of our stay was of course Grace Bay! It is amazing! We found many sand dollars while snorkeling out front of the resort and even saw a stingray and starfish. We also walked down to Coral Reef and enjoyed the snorkeling there too and saw a sea turtle.

The only thing that makes me sad is that I'm not there now! Can't wait to go back!

Will not return

  • 3 of 5

Our communication with Sunny initially was positive and we felt confident that our stay would be good.

We arrived at the resort and checked in. At first the front desk informed us that we were responsible for our own towels and that towel cards were only available to resort guests. I referred to the owner reassuring us multiple times that towel cards were part of our rental fee. We were eventually able to get the resort to comply with what we were assured by the owner but not the kind of stressful situation we wanted from the start.

We entered the unit to an unbearable strong smell somewhat like insence. Although warm outside we had to thoroughly air out the unit by opening all doors until it was bearable.

Furniture in the unit is tired. Sheets on the foldout couch were dirty with small hairs and smell. The queen bed in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable. Any time my husband or I moved the entire bed moved.

The unit did not appear clean or well maintained. For example, loose lampshade on bedside table with burned out bulb, dresser drawers have a moldy smell.

I took the time to clean the appliances myself on the exterior.

The resort itself is lovely and the staff were excellent. The pool and beach are beautiful and the restaurant quite good.

Two weeks after departing we still had not received a refund of our damage deposit. Rental policy stated 2 weeks via paypal or paper check. Being from Canada we chose the paper check option to avoid additional patpal fees due to exchange and the option of paper check was clearly offered by the owner. It has been a month and after 3 emails the check has finally been mailed. I have never had to chase after a damage deposit in all my years of renting vacation homes. Not something I want to have to waste my time on.

We would definitely consider returning to this particular resort but not to any of this owners units.

Owner's Response: It was bound to happen. After two years and moving up from management of one unit to eight units I have received my first non-five-star review. In regards to the towel card situation the information we provided to the guest was absolutely accurate and the policy of the resort at that time was to provide all of our guests with a towel card. It appears an uninformed staff member at the resort provided you bad information, which unfortunately is outside of our control. My housekeeper has a very limited time to clean the unit in between departing and arriving guests and does use strong cleaning solutions to ensure a nice clean unit on all of our guest’s arrival. Unfortunately because of the short time the smell of the cleaning solution did not have time to dissipate before your arrival. In response to the list of items regarding cleanliness I can say that I have not received any prior poor reviews regarding the quality of our housekeeping or unit furniture. I have stayed in my own unit many times and have always found the bed to be comfortable and the furniture in good shape. In the same vein, this unit does have the original furniture package and is not on the cutting edge of modernism but all the décor is accurately reflected in the photographs. You can see this is true by the many other reviews posted. I know that my concierge/housekeeper was in touch with you during your stay and neither of us recall receiving any contact from you in regards to housekeeping needs. She is on call 24 hours and certainly would have addressed any need you had if she had been notified. I fully admit that I was a little late providing you the return of your security deposit. This was entirely my fault. I employ a staff to perform most of the duties of my bookings. However writing checks is one of the responsibilities that I’ve always maintained personally. Unfortunately I was traveling out of the country at the time your refund was due and simply did not have access to my paper checkbook to mail you a check until I returned. We clearly state on our website that paper check is our least favorite form of payment or security deposit refund as it does take time. I did refund your deposit in full by paper check when I was able about 10 days past the two-week period. I spoke to you on the phone personally to apologize to you for this and offer you compensation for your trouble. I’m still willing to do this and would be happy to discuss it further with you. Sunny

Map

The Alexandra Resort invites you to enjoy the best resort value on world acclaimed Grace Bay Beach. Of all the Turks and Caicos resorts located on exclusive Providenciales, few offer the perfect combination of a beachfront address, spacious suites, a wide range of amenities and services, and affordable prices.

With its expansive, lush grounds, the 91-suite Alexandra Resort Turks and Caicos hotel is one of the larger Turks and Caicos resorts located directly on Grace Bay Beach, and customer service is paramount to us. Here you will enjoy receiving personal service from attentive and friendly staff who strive to make every guest feel welcome.

While many other resorts in Turks and Caicos are also located on the world-famous Grace Bay Beach, few offer such an extensive range of facilities to such a wide range of travellers. The resort’s spacious suites are distinguished by high ceilings, large decks or patios, fully equipped kitchens (kitchenettes in studios), laptop-size safes, and free WiFi. Couples love the intimate oceanfront suites that offer stunning views of the turquoise waters that have made Turks and Caicos famous. Families enjoy the convenience of the full kitchens and the washers and dryers located in one, two and four bedroom units. And business travellers feel right at home in spacious studios, which feature well appointed kitchenettes and ample room to get paperwork done after a busy day of attending meetings. Few other Turks and Caicos resorts offer this level of versatility in guest accommodations.

There may be many resorts in Turks and Caicos, but the experience of staying at the Alexandra Resort is a unique one. Resort amenities include a large lagoon-style swimming pool, an international restaurant, Spa Sanay, Caicos Dream Tours excursions desk, a concierge desk, 24-hour front desk and an exercise room. Despite the fact the Alexandra Resort is not an all-inclusive Caribbean resort, it does offer several services on a complimentary basis, including non motorized water sports, tennis courts, pedal bikes, and WiFi property wide. When you compare these services and facilities to other Turks and Caicos resorts, it’s hard to find better value than what is offered at the Alexandra Turks and Caicos resort on award-winning Grace Bay Beach.
