20% off Ski/Snowboard Day Rental Packages from Flagstaff Ski Haus while Arizona Snowbowl is open for the '16-'17 season!

Tucked away in the quiet neighborhood of University Heights, the Woodlands Mountain Retreat is conveniently situated just minutes from downtown Flagstaff - ideal for a quick weekend retreat or an extended getaway. With the shade and solace of Flagstaff’s Ponderosa pines, you can't help but feel at home in this wonderful five-bedroom, three bath retreat!

The home is made for fun! It boasts 4 levels and with 3575 square feet of living space can accommodate even the largest of groups comfortably. Three separate living spaces throughout the home make it easy to come together and enjoy some company or retreat for some relaxation time to yourself. With a beautiful stone stairwell as a centerpiece of the home, hardwood flooring, three levels of outdoor space, 8 flat screen TVs with DirecTV (a TV in EVERY room with over 50 movie channels and NFL Package!) and a beautiful wood burning fireplace in the game room, along with a Foosball table, casino table, and access to the outdoor hot tub, and regulation size horseshoe pit, this home suits everyone!

The kitchen sits on the main floor and is home to beautiful tiling, a sitting area with 50' flat screen tv, a huge rustic bench-style table, and all the accouterments one would need to cook for the entire group. The sliding glass door opens up to a wonderful deck overlooking the pine trees in the back yard. Moving upstairs is the queen bedroom suite with private bath and private living area including another 50' flat screen tv, futon, and kitchenette.

One level below the kitchen there are three guest bedrooms. The Master Suite has an attached private bath and jetted Jacuzzi tub, and a beautiful deck with access to the back yard. Also on this level are the bunk room with full sized bunk beds, the queen guest room, and a full bath. Each bedroom throughout features a flat screen TV and Directv programming.

The bottom level hosts a king bedroom with tv and huge walk-in closet, the game room featuring a foos ball table, 50' flat screen tv, comfortable couches, a wood burning fireplace, and a game table with several casino style games (Roulette, Blackjack, Craps, and Texas Hold'em). Walking out to the back patio you will find the fully fenced yard with a wonderful hot tub under the pines, a regulation sized horseshoe pit, a bbq grill, and a chiminea to keep your toes warm as you watch the stars go by.

You will be just minutes from I-17 and I-40, and surrounded by a reputable variety of dining and shopping options. The Arizona Snowbowl is a quick half-hour drive, and offers world class skiing at a family friendly resort. One of the seven Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon, is just over an hour’s drive north, providing some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. A multitude of activities are also available at the Canyon, including helicopter rides, donkey rides and hiking.

Be sure to ask for advice on hiking or cycling trips, ski/snowboard lessons and rentals, cross country ski and snowshoe trails, sledding areas, as well as any of the dozens of Flagstaff area attractions.

Fantastic Winter Getaway Home

  • 5 of 5

There are many positive attributes of this home. What my family liked best: 1) great gathering spaces for everybody (especially the big kitchen with a huge kitchen table and the recreation room/game room with large comfortable sofas); 2) bedrooms and bathrooms nicely spread out for privacy; 3) well equipped kitchen ideal for families that love to cook; 4) beautiful and quiet wooded neighborhood; 5) large fenced-in back yard ideal for dogs; and 6) very close proximity to downtown Flag for shopping, bars and restaurants.

Work Retreat

  • 4 of 5

Woodlands Mountain was the perfect place to hold our firm retreat! It was spacious, provided privacy and enough room for us to work and play. The house has easy freeway access, but close to town for restaurants, bars and movies. John was very thorough and quick to answer any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this as a get away for large gatherings. If you plan to stay in the winter, however, you may want a vehicle with 4 wheel drive to navigate the drive to the house - not necessary, but helpful.

Horribly Disappointing!

  • 1 of 5

Poorly maintained, dirty, run down. Highly upsetting experience. We were issued a full refund due to the septic tank leak, draining sewage all over the bottom floor game room carpeted area, clear to the back yard. We had 14 people in our party that weren't able to use any of the toilets, shower, or use water at all. We were dealing with this issue at 2 in the a.m. & had no choice but to try and get some rest on our first night there, attempting to sleep with the horrific stench filling the entire home, only to pack up and leave as soon as we could in the morning. I think if anything in the home had been maintained this may not of happened. The home was extremely unsatisfactory prior to the sewage issue. The kids were not able to play a single game in the game room. The Foosball Table had broken players that weren't long enough to reach the ball making that unusable. The Roulette Table as well wasn't in playing condition as the wheel wouldn't spin. Every single 1 of the games was scattered, broken, missing pieces. Honestly, everything in that room should of been tossed out and replaced long ago! FILTH! We had to clean the hair out of the showers ourselves, (Al-tho a waste of time as we soon found out, we wouldn't be able to shower). I had to clean the unbelievable filthy ceiling fan above the kitchen table prior to eating our 1 meal there. I made the mistake of turning off the fan so it wouldn't cool our food, only to have it throwing dust balls and dirt all over the table onto the food. It seriously could NOT have been cleaned in at least a year. The floors were dirty, crumbs and a soda spilled on the floor by the refrigerator.

Also previous renters mentioned the safety issue with the kitchen table bench. It is very long and dangerous because when 1 person sits on the end, the other end flies into the air. It almost hit our 3 year old in the face. Someone will get hurt, if they have not allready! The answer I read to the previous comment was, "Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will make sure it is addressed and safe for future guests". Aha, NO, not done at all! I was horribly worried about the 4 story drop also with our 3 year old with us. The stair rails are not very high, & I was worried sick she would fall over them the entire time. I noticed stairs in the photo's, but had no idea how horribly dangerous they were until I saw them. A child could easily fall to their death! Our Thanksgiving Family Trip, was ruined!

Owner's Response: Barbara, I’d like to begin by sincerely apologizing for the experience that you had in our home. It turns out that the main plumbing line was clogged outside the house and caused the backup. We had a professional plumber come to the home in the morning and they were able to quickly determine the cause and remedy the situation. It was an unpredictable circumstance that was not related to regular maintenance. This beautiful home often draws large groups, and in this case may have contributed to the issue. This has never happened before and it appears that the problem is completely resolved as we haven’t had any further issues. In addition, the downstairs carpet was professionally cleaned that same day and is as good as new! I apologize again that this unlikely circumstance came up in the middle of the night and I’m glad that we were able to have it taken care of first thing in the morning when you contacted us. Our houses are fully cleaned after every guest stay and extensively deep cleaned on a routine basis as well. We did not meet our normal high standards for your stay. I have personally met with our cleaning service to address in detail and remedy the problems that you experienced. We strive to ensure that each of our homes is cleaned to the highest standards for each guest. I hope that the prompt refund of your stay and my deepest apology shows that this is certainly not the norm. If you ever plan a stay in Flagstaff in the future I would love you to contact me personally so that I can show you the same 5 star experience that nearly all of our guests enjoy.

Thanksgiving Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

Having Thanksgiving with my oldest daughter and family that flew in from Kansas, my oldest son and his girlfriend drove up from California and my husband, my mom and myself also drove in from So. California and spending the holiday in Flagstaff with my youngest daughter who is a freshman at NAU. The house was perfect for everyone to spread out and kitchen area was a great place to share meals. Everyone enjoyed the jacuzzi and the warm fireplace. The game room was fun as well. Perfect location to visit the Grand Canyon the day after Thanksgiving.

All in all we had a wonderful holiday at the Woodlands Mountain Retreat.

Great Get-Away Place

Property was just as described. Clean, well kept and conveniently located off of I17 and I40. Wish we had more time to spend here. We will be back for sure! Great customers service booking online, and John was very communicative and responded quickly.
