About Sherry Hudson

Paul and I love to explore Nova Scotia and are often seen clambering over waterfalls in search of a new spot to set up our tripods. In the summer months we love to sail, exploring the coast and joining in on the local races. Winter takes us outdoors to freeze our fingers off to catch the warm light of the perfect sunrise or out across the trails on x-country skiis.

Sherry Hudson purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Sherry Hudson chose Nova Scotia

This property is perfect for couples, it is in a quiet location with lots of privacy but nearby many attractions. In the winter its a great place to turn of the electronics and sit by the fire and relax. In the summer you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the river or a fire under the evening stars. There are many places close by to discover if you like to explore.

What makes this cottage unique

The most unique aspect of the cottage is its location above a set a rapids which can be heard in the cottage year round. This lovely sound of water provides the perfect acoustic backdrop to the cottage. Guests can enjoy their morning cup of coffee on the deck overlooking the river and watch the sun come up while they plan their day of adventures.

Quaint and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We spent a peaceful weekend at this sweet cottage on the river. The sound of the water was so relaxing. The interior is beautiful and has everything you need to be comfortable. The surrounding area is lovely with lots to do. We definitely plan to go back for another visit.

Fantastic Retreat

Cottage was perfect for our mini moon. Sherry's knowledge of the area was very helpful in guiding us to the best attraction in the area.

Beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay! The cabin was very well cleaned, well-stocked, and cozy. From the moment my wife and I walked in, we knew this place was a gold nugget. The owner left us a gift bottle of wine on the table and stacked firewood for us to use.

We look forward to returning to stay here again soon. Thanks for a great place to stay! P.S. Check out Waves Seafood and Grill (Bridgewater, NS), for the absolute best Chicken Alfredo!

Heron's Rest Fantacsti

  • 5 of 5

Because of the review we read on-line about Heron's Rest we were sure it would not meet our expectations. Our expectations were exceeded in the first few minutes on the property! We pulled up to the cottage but were not able to go in because we were drawn to the river by the sound of white water! On the way we had to walk through a very impressive landscape of flowers, bushes and grasses but we did find "our" own set of rapids! There were three different sitting places where we could enjoy the sound and watch this small shut-in foam and flow. When we did go to the cabin we found a most comfortable and well laid out property. A bottle of wine from a winery which is just up the road, perhaps a quarter mile, was provided by the hostess. Our day excursions took us to great places like Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, and Blue Rocks. We stopped at the winery on day on the way back to the Rest. If there is a comfortable, relaxing hide-away as good as Herson's Rest we have not found it .....and we have looked pretty hard. Definitely a 10!

Setting as lovely as the picture

  • 5 of 5

This truly is a quiet riverside retreat. In the three days we did not see or hear another person near the cottage. The rushing water is very soothing and being able to sit by the riverside or out on the rock in the river was very pleasing. The walk through the lush garden is enchanting, with many surprises hidden among the flowers. A little hummingbird visited us daily making us happy. The cottage is delightful and very comfortable, with many thoughtful items available (like a flashlight, beach towels, freezer packs). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The surrounding area is pretty, with ocean views close by and interesting craftspeople to visit. The cottage is easy to find with the instructions provided by Sherry and is well looked after.

A comfortable cabin in an amazing setting

  • 5 of 5

Herons Rest is a definite gem. The house is small and cozy but modern in every sense. It is beautifully decorated with artwork, photos and crafts. The furniture both inside and out is very comfortable. The gardens surrounding the house are beautiful. You can tell that much effort goes into planning and maintaining them. The house is in a quiet spot, but there is much to see and do nearby. All in all it is an ideal spot for a restful vacation.
