Barque Cottage is a quiet retreat located on the banks of the La Have River estuary in Pleasantville Nova Scotia. Conveniently situated only five minutes from the South Shores largest town, Bridgewater, and less than 20 minutes to the beaches, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, distilleries and wineries. The La Have River runs from the heart of Bridgewater to the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean in La Have (roughly 15 kms long) where you will find the La Have River Cable Ferry, Fort Point Museum, artisans and one of favourite places to eat the La Have Bakery.
Barque Cottage is a one and a half story cottage nestled on 1.3 acres with 235 feet of direct water frontage. Three bedrooms include two upstairs with a full bathroom with tub and one downstairs with a full bathroom and custom shower. All bedrooms are furnished with queen size beds. The open concept main floor has a fully equipped kitchen with cathedral ceilings, a dining room table for six, and living room looking out to the river. The cottage went through an extensive renovation in 2013 which took 12 months to complete. The only things that were not replaced during the renovation are the; wood studs, roof, foundation and exterior wood shingles. Everything else is less than 4 years old.
Close by are the many beaches along Nova Scotia's South Shore. Two of the largest are roughly 20 mins away. Risser's Beach is family friendly with full amenities and Crescent Beach is a 2 km long drive-on beach known for its sprawling sand. This beautiful scenic coastline is part of Nova Scotia's Lighthouse Route which runs down both sides of the river from Bridgewater. If you're ever looking for a relaxing drive just turn left out of the driveway at Barque Cottage, drive 10 minutes to La Have, drive onto the ferry, turn left off the ferry, drive 25 minutes to Bridgewater, cross one of the two bridges, turn left, drive 5 minutes and you're back to Barque Cottage. The five-minute ferry crossing is also an alternate route to take you Lunenburg, a world UNESCO Heritage site. Beautiful Mahone Bay is 20 minutes away and Osprey Ridge Golf Club are less than 15-minute drive.
Also enjoy the La Have River Yacht Club where you can gas up your boat, have a meal while watching the sailboat racing (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) or just enjoy some local cheer during a Friday night Happy Hour.
Unique features of the property include a 6-person hot tub, large lawn with badminton net, boat ramp, wharf, 30' floating dock, 2 kayaks and A/C.
