About Owner/Manager

I grew up in this country cottage and spent many wonderful years in the area. I moved from the area when I married and then my children spent many wonderful years visiting their grandparents on this property. My brothers and I wanted to keep a home place, but still have the property used and enjoyed by others.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 2012

Why Owner/Manager chose Virginia

This is a very special property with many memories and always a place to get a way from it all, but so close to major functions in the local college towns. It also allows a group to stay with their pets with large fenced in back yard, while being the opposite direction of traffic.

What makes this house unique

The beautiful view of the mountains, the peaceful sounds of the Sinking Creek, the coziness of the living room and game room, the large fenced in back yard.

great location and option for VT visit!

  • 5 of 5

In the country with the cows, smiles, but what a wonderful way to spend a busy long weekend of graduation activity - close enough to quickly and easily get to the activities on campus, but then an awesome escape back out to the peaceful house. We enjoyed having so much room (versus squeezing into two hotel rooms), a full kitchen, and even grilled burgers one nite on the charcoal grill. This ended up being a fantastic option for our family and I will definitely be in touch again for future visits to blacksburg. Ps - we detoured by the historic bridge, wow!, and made the easy trip to the Cascades, great!

Quaint Farmhouse - Nature lovers dream!

  • 4 of 5

We booked this quaint little farmhouse for a 2 night stay while visiting my brother and his wife. Our boys simply loved it! They loved the creek out front that runs in front of the house, the huge yard and farm land around it, and the view of the cows was a plus! The temp was in the 30's and 40's when we staying and that didn't matter to our boys, they were out throwing rocks in the creek, walking around, etc... If you love the outdoors, nature and looking for a slower, quieter place from the city.... this is the place! They were excellent to work with and very affordable!

Quiet getaway

  • 3 of 5

A cute house beside a creek on the middle of a farm. Very quiet. House smelled musty and it took awhile to get the heat going. Would have been good to know before we got there that the house spring water sometimes caused g.i.problems so we could have brought more drinking water. House had a odd layout and dated furnishings but some folks might look at those things and call them "charming".

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review. We have a note in our rental agreement about the spring water but we will add to the Welcome information. We are always working on updating but do want to leave some "older" charm. Thanks again.

Great views and value!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, as well as 2 other couples, really enjoyed our stay here. Months ago, we started planning our trip for the ECU vs. VT game and wanted a larger place outside of Blacksburg. We booked this place and will certainly do again on our next visit. The cottage is nestled in a valley and right beside a stream that flows throw the property. You are literally on a cow farm, as they inhabit the area as well. Ground hogs and foxes can be seen frequently. I grew up on a farm, so this was home away from home for me. The cottage has a cozy and roomy feel, although we wish there was a full bed instead of the bunk beds. The fire pit was key as we spent most of our evenings there. Apologies to whomever had to remove all the bags of beer ECU fans, we took the loss pretty hard :-).
