We Loved It
The property was everything we could have imagined and more. We were able to meet the Mencfeld's upon our arrival who were dutifully prepping before we arrived. The view was great, could see Toronto across the lake. The cottage is about 20 minutes away from Niagara Falls. It is also a short drive to restaurants, pubs, and grocery stores. The cottage was spacious and even had an Xbox. The hot tub was definitely our favorite feature. Even though it was raining we were still able to use it because it was covered by the upstairs balcony. The kitchen would have been sufficient for meals however we wanted to experience the local cuisine. The residents of nearby Port Dalhousie made us feel extremely welcome, stopped by Scorecard Harry's to watch the Cubs games (seemed fitting) and met some of the friendliest people ever. Ontario also has some of the most diehard hockey fans around who are happy to tell you all about their teams. When we left I posted some pictures and a link to this property on my social media for my friends who may visit the area.
We will definitely be back.
It's a beautiful place we enjoyed our stay very Much.
Good location and pool and hot tub make the difference!
We had an enjoyable time in this little cottage. Good location to wineries and the villages of Jordan, Saint Catherine's and Dalhousie. We totally enjoyed the hot tub and the swimming pool as we lucked out with the weather! Other than a minor inconvenience of a musty odor, The cottage was quaint and comfortable.
Please be prepared to bring your own drinking water.
Lovely Spot with pool and hot tub!
Our family of five loved this cottage. It is quirky and rustic but was very comfortable for our family for a week. It is colorfully decorated in a shabby chic style which we found very appealing. Kids loved their room and there was plenty of space. Beds are comfortable and mattresses are quality, with good bedding. There is a large balcony right off the bedrooms upstairs which is a great spot to enjoy a cup of coffee in the mornings. The pool was a good size and the hot tub was lovely and right outside the patio doors. There was outdoor seating for eating and lounging The cottage is right on the water with a gorgeous view. We went to the park a couple of kilometres down the road and walked the waterfront-so peaceful.
The cottage is about ten minutes away from St Catherine's (where you will find everything you want or need) and twenty minutes from Niagara Falls. We found the location almost ideal for our needs-far enough away for quiet and relaxation, but close enough for easy access.
The cottage is also well equipped with all the basics (linens, bedding, towels, even pool towels!) Not to mention that the kitchen has everything you need with coffee, tea, sugar, even some basic spices. I cooked quite a bit when we were there and had plentiful cookware and plates, cups, utensils and cutlery.
The bedrooms even had tvs and an Xbox. There were books, movies and games that we all enjoyed and the selection on the main tv was quite good including the the movie channels and HBO. There were movies, books and dishware geared towards kids which was unexpected but appreciated. My only complaint if I had one is that the wifi was quite challenging. It was difficult to get a signal and reception was intermittent at best. If Internet is important to you, please be aware that you will find it challenging here.
Donna and Ted could not have been nicer or more accommodating, even printing tickets for us that we had purchased online. They are great hosts. If you're thinking of booking-do it! Before someone else does.
Bit of heaven - wish we could return
This is one of my favourite places I have ever stayed in - I wish it was nearer as I'd go back in a heartbeat. Very quaint and homely. Quirky in a good way. Niagara has lots going on but was lovely to be able to come back to a swimming pool & the hot tub and we spent a few days leaving v late as we didn't want to have to go out... yes it was that nice. View over the garden stunning too. Pool very deep & we enjoyed the diving board & all the pool toys. Escaped into the hot tub at the end of every night. Place had lots of things to make your stay easy - There was coffee, tea, spices, toilet paper, soaps, conditioner, games etc so it was like staying in your own home and huge amount of spare towels.... Very clean & cool. Nearby was the boat on the beach which is work visiting. The nearby park was closed due to flooding but has concerts on Tues night. Spent a week visiting Niagara as so much to do - we had the Pass and it was worth every penny. First day we parked & paid $22 & the next day parked at the Aerocar which was free and got the Wego bus. Niagara-on-the-lake was great for an ambling around and doing shopping. We also visited Fort Erie so we could have easily spent 2w here. Owners are next door and happy to offer advice. About 25min drive from Niagara & Niagara-on-the-lake but worth the drive out of the built up Niagara area into this wonderful place.
Great location for families!
We had such a nice stay at this cottage .. it worked perfectly for our family of 4. Would absolutely recommend to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to return. Approx. 15-20 mins to The Falls and to Niagara on the Lake .. but not a bad drive at all. Loved being able to utilize the pool and hot tub. Everything was very clean and well taken care of!
Relax and unwind in the hot tub steps from your cozy cottage!
