About this property
Walk to the beach at Chapel Hill House
Harvey could not keep a good house down but it did contribute to the remodel of Chapel Hill House. We kept the charm but added full bathrooms, a new kitchen and lots of lighting and windows. Remember a quieter & gentler time when friends gathered and shared good times. This 1926 original Old Town home takes guests back to that time. Chapel Hill House has three queen bedrooms, each with attached full bathrooms, one bedroom with 2 twin beds and attached full bathroom and 4 twin beds on the first floor with a half bath on that floor. There are large sunny porches in front and back on the first floor, with a sunning porch on the second floor with gulf view. There is an outdoor shower on the first floor porch. There is a large dining room and outdoor table that seats 10, Twelve can screen a movie on the TV in the living room. Chapel Hill House is equipped with a Weber Genesis grill and spacious kitchen. Washer and dryer are provided. Combine this rental with our home, next door, the Black Dog Cottage, VRBO #592377/587710.

We had an AMAZING stay. This house is a picturesque beach cottage. It is perfectly located. The owners are the best hosts I have ever had in all my stays! Highly recommend.
I rented both properties that sure the pool and backyard it was a blast location was great. The owners were very nice people just kinda shocking to see they were actually staying on site the whole time but very nice

Great, perfect for what we needed.
My family and I loved the house. It would've been perfect if the golf cart worked in our favor but other than that we would gladly return.
This was the second time we’ve stayed at this property. You can’t beat the location. The house is nicely appointed and the host is very accommodating and friendly. We loved having the pool too. I call it a diamond in the rough because the exterior doesn’t reflect the interior, and it is a very good value considering what you get for your money. We will be returning!
House was big enough for all of us, we had plenty of space.
We will come back to the property. We had the shared pool to ourselves up until the last day of our stay. If bringing dogs, the yard is shared with Black Dog house, this posed problem the last day with the new arrivals as they tied their dogs up in the shared yard, but we loved the area, the house has every amenity you would need, it's close to the beach and all Pt A has to offer!

Needs work
This is a nice house but is definitely in need of some cosmetic work. Walls needing some fresh paint. We thought we were getting a private pool and found that the neighbor used this pool as well. Whoever cleaned before we arrived left items out in the house. Overall it is a nice place just needs a little tlc.
Overall this property fulfilled its purpose. There was a load of space that fit our family & guests comfortably. The house stayed warmer than we like, even turning down the AC. I think thicker blinds may help the heat not come in from the sun. Having a pool outside was great but the yard was a bit overgrown. Lastly, the grill that we used was not very clean & looked like it could be a fire hazard. We did enjoy our stay there!

Thank you for your comments. We cannot guarantee the condition of the grill. We provide the brush to clean it and it is natural gas so there is never tank replacement. We do ask that you turn the knob off on the gas line for safety. Our lawns are done on a schedule and your visit followed an extremely rainy week. This is a double whammy as the lawn crew gets behind during the rain and the grass grows faster.
Thanks for mentioning the A/C. It is the Nest and goes "Eco" when there is no motion and sets the A/C a bit higher. So when you come back from a day at the beach, it will be higher and takes time to cool down. The Nest is set to cool to an enjoyable temperature and setting it lower can be counter productive as it ices the outside unit.

Fun time
We had a group of 12 adults and everyone fit but 2 of the noted beds are a day bed that was not very comfortable so they resorted to sleeping on the couch. The kitchen had almost everything you would need, lots of dishes and appliances. If you are looking for privacy this is not the place to stay as the property manager is around the house all of the time, although very nice. It was difficult to pack up and ensure you have everything because there is stuff everywhere in the house but we only left one item. There is plenty of personal space in the house. I would not recommend for small children. Overall great time and a comfortable place to stay.

Thank you for the kind words. No mattress can suit everyone. The ones you reference are Serta mattresses. We thought a manager next door was an asset. Little kids have visited and "the stuff" has not been a problem. Having lost so many decorations in Hurricane Harvey, there does not seem to be too much to us.

Not what we expected!
While the house appeared cute and spacious initially, our experience quickly soured due to several issues. Upon arrival, we noticed the house was uncomfortably hot, which we initially attributed to the Texas sun and our activities. However, the problem persisted throughout our stay, with temperatures inside often hovering around 80 degrees, making it difficult to relax or sleep. Despite notifying the manager, and her saying “it’s been inspected”, the air conditioner struggled to cool below 80 degrees until late at night. The condition of the amenities left much to be desired. We encountered dirty broken down furniture, holes in sheets and towels, dirty bedskirts, and stained linens, peeling paint on walls, and even holes in the walls themselves. The outdoor shower had rotting boards that were falling through, posing a safety hazard. The oven repeatedly shut off mid-cooking, and although the manager attempted to fix it, the problem persisted. The washing machine broke down and shortly after being repaired broke again! The dishwasher didn't function properly, requiring us to handwash dishes.
Noise was also a significant issue, as the manager's dogs, located in the adjoining unit, barked frequently, disrupting our peace. Furthermore, we discovered black mold in the air conditioning vents, which raised concerns about air quality, especially with a baby in our group.
Despite reaching out to the landlord about these issues, including the unbearable inside heat which was ridiculous,

We understand your disappointment not reading that the pool is shared but the rest of this is just not fair. Our house was 72 every morning. It did have a hard time keeping up with open doors throughout the day. The washer threw a drain clog code and we found baby socks in the drain. You brought 2 infants and we do not blame you. We cleared the drain in under 10 minutes after you reported it. The gfi popped once in the kitchen. Not everyone knows how to reset it but we responded immediately and are unaware of more problems. We have rescue dogs next door. They bark. They do not belong to us. The vents have some dust since the ducts were replaced in May. We address them as the need arises but this is not mold.

Dissatisfied!!!
This place was very dirty. The shower curtain had black mold spots, so did the shower. Gross!!! The rugs in the restrooms were dirty. All area rugs were dirty as well. Gross!!! Looked like they haven't been washed in months. Gross!!! I wanted to wash and clean everything. The floors were dirty. Gross!!! I dont know why they charge a cleaning fee. Didn't look like they hadn't cleaned the place before we got there. We saw a few roaches. Gross!!!! The tv in the game room didnt work. They had a wii, dvd player and nothing worked. The foosball table was broken. We love going to the beach and then later in the evening taking the kids swimming at the pool. So I made sure to book a house that had a pool. Well at least thats what I thought... but that didn't happen. The description said "communal pool", which is not!! I've been staying in Port A for many years now and when they put on the description "communal pool"......it is for the people in that subdivision. They need to specify that it is a "city pool", not a "communal pool". 2 very different things. Its the city pool that closes @6:00pm and you need to pay to get in. Adults $2 and kids $1. So by the time we got back from the beach the pool was closed. Kids did not enjoy that. The description also said 2 twin beds that can be converted to a queen which is not so. It was not a queen bed. Im 5'2 and my feet were at the end of the bed. My husband is 5'11 and his feet were hanging off the so called queen bed. Im glad we took an air mattress. The ceiling fan in the game room needs to be replaced. It only worked on low setting if not it would shake. Looked like it was about to fall. So it was hot in that room. No one used the gameroom at all. It was a waste of space. Restroom door in second floor wasn't working properly. Wouldn't lock or close all the way. No privacy!!! Overall we were all disappointed. But we tried to make the best of it. On the plus side my dogs enjoyed it. They loved running around in the yard exploring. I think this house would be better if they replace the ceiling fan in game room, invested in some real twin beds in the gameroom or mabe a queen trundle bed. Replace all the rugs and shower curtains. Fix the door in the restroom. Add more tv's to rooms. And make sure they all work. Oh and most important get a better cleaning crew.

Sorry you were disappointed but in our numerous conversations to try to help, you shared you have been to Port A many times and always use VRBO. Somehow you must have missed that VRBO only has 2 pool options- private or communal! Of course we chose communal to let our guests know where they could enjoy a pool. Strangely none of your other issues were a problem in the 5 times you called us over a 2 day stay.
We loved the house as far as the character and aesthetic goes, but the sofa and all of the beds are extremely uncomfortable. I hate to be “nit picky”, but all of the queen beds were very hard and made squeaky noises every time someone moved. My husband has sleep apnea and has to sleep on the sofa, and the sofa there had zero cushioning, we could feel the wood frame when just sitting on it. All of us slept horribly, I just would not expect a home that we paid such a high price for to be so uncomfortable.
The house was perfect for our large group of 12. It was well stocked with basic essentials, the pool was clean & very nice. Super close to the beach & fishing pier with the historic chapel across the street. Definitely will be staying again!
This house is great for a family with the location, layout and pool. The pool was a big hit with the kids.

We are sorry that you did not understand that the private pool is shared between our two homes, and that the owners quarters are in close proximity to the rental. This is explained in our listing as a private pool is defined by VRBO as being shared by up to 2 properties. We did not complain about noise and kept our distance. It is our goal to make sure all of our guests have a great experience.
The house is very nice and enough space to spread out and come together too. We had 3 couples and 4 kids. Remodeled quite nice. The yard seemed to be the only thing that needed attention. Would definitely love to stay here again. Had a great time Hanna and all!!

Family Vacation
Plenty of space in the house we had total of 10 people, everyone was comfortable. Walking distance to the beach. Only issue is it’s not a private pool, you share with the next door neighbor. We wanted a private back yard and private pool. Other than that very nice place.

Seaside Enterprises Texas is a collaboration of water lovers who grew up spending vacations from Bar Harbor to San Diego, interspersed with tropical international beaches in between. We grew up renting and sharing homes we returned to year after year with crisp white linens, fireflies, patchwork quilts and s'mores. We bring this love and these memories to the homes we have developed in Port Aransas and on the lakes in the Texas Hill Country. We hope your stay brings you and yours closer together with sunny days, the splash of water, moonlit nights and memories to last a lifetime.
