"This condo is offered for rent by an individual owner, not the Apple Valley Condo Association." Apple Valley is not in the condo renting business, and only a handful of owners choose to share their units with lucky guests, who return year after year!

Apple Sally's S-3 condo is located is a private, gated community conveniently located at the ENTRANCE TO LAKE CUMBERLAND STATE RESORT PARK!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Park your car just steps from your front door! Very convenient location for loading and unloading. Only one small step and you're inside! We love that our condo offers room right out front to park your boat for a limited time to load and unload. Click SATELLITE on the map to see for yourself!

YES! We have great cell phone reception, we're the closest condo to the cell tower!

YES! We have WIFI, but you may have to go to the clubhouse to connect to the internet. I am usually able to connect from our second floor balcony, as our condo overlooks the clubhouse area, by the pool, where the router is located:) If you absolutely cannot do without wifi, you can always count on reliable internet service in the picturesque lobby of the State Park Lodge, just 4 miles down the road!

YES! We have DISH TV (including local channels)

SORRY: NO Smoking in Condos and No Pets. Our Condo is 100% Smoke Free, and Apple Valley is 100% Pet Free!

We are close to the pool and playground too. Our condo is located in the highest point of the resort, offering a spectacular view of the resort and the surrounding hills. We have a seasonal view of the lake from the upper balcony, and a grassy (watch for grazing deer) and wooded view from the front.

Our condo has been renovated from top-to-bottom and has been designed to reflect the warmth of Kentucky hospitality.

Each level has a new LCD flat screen TV.

EAT-IN KITCHEN offers new custom crafted wrap-around solid oak cabinetry. Whirlpool appliances and refrigerator with freezer large enough to accomodate a cooler full of ice for your day on the lake! You can now conveniently purchase a $2 bag of ice right here at Apple Valley Resort!

We have also replaced and upgraded ALL interior (six panel) and exterior doors and windows, to maximize the spectacular views of the resort and the surrounding natural beauty of the Cumberlands.

LINENS AND TOWELS PROVIDED to accommodate six. Bring beach towels! There will be a starter amount of paper towels, toilet paper, soap products and trash bags for your convenience, but please be sure to bring more of these items for your stay in Apple Valley.

Our condo is the best kept secret at Lake Cumberland!

The resort where our condo resides is a small privately owned community with a security gate, and most owners choose NOT to rent their units, keeping them as family summer getaways.

Apple Sally's Condo is located on 72 wooded acres in Apple Valley Resort, 145 State Park Road, just after you turn at the big 'LAKE CUMBERLAND STATE RESORT PARK' sign off Route 127.

Apple Valley Resort adjoins the property of Lake Cumberland State Resort Park. The resort offers a large pool with a diving board and lots of chaise lounges and umbrella tables. There are lighted tennis courts and a basketball court.

You will enjoy the beautiful covered picnic area (lights and paddle fans!) with family size stainless steel gas grills, located right next to the playground, pool and clubhouse. There's a CAMPFIRE RING too - and Rocking Chairs:)

You can hike to the lake and take a dip in the secluded cove if you are adventurous!

You can launch your boat at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, or the newly updated facility at Wolf Creek Dam . They provide access to two completely different sections of Lake Cumberland. For kayaking, or a quick spot to jump in the lake, go to Rowena Ferry Road - approx. 2000 feet from our condo's Entrance, just off State Park Road!

Ski-boat, fishing boat, pontoon, and jet-ski rental are available for your family's fun time just down the road at the State Park Marina 1-888-782-8336 and, or at nearby Jamestown Marina 1-800-830-5131.

We suggest that you visit the State Park lodge and pick up an activity/entertainment schedule. Most activities are free. They have just added a Disc Golf Course for your family's funtime - FREE!

Dining at the Lake Cumberland State Park Resort Lodge is a must. We recommend the buffets - and you can feed leftovers to the 'critters' at the lodge patio, overlooking the lake.

The breakfast morning view from the Lodge is awesome. Do not forget to watch the sunset from the Lookout Point, a spectacular view of the lake, and just a short stroll from the lodge. You are sure to see deer if you drive around the State Park at dusk.

Enjoy preparing meals in YOUR new kitchen, or enjoy the friendly service and county cookin' at the local restaurants in Jamestown, or at the State Park. Lake Cumberland is no longer in a "dry" county, so you can enjoy all your favorite beverages as you dine out.

NEW TO THE AREA? Our condo has a 'Welcome Book' to guide you with activities and local restaurants. We even have a collection of menus to review before you go!

Most of our rentals come from referrals and our valued repeat customers. We love our condo, and you will too. Like family, you will feel very comfortable and right at home here. We only ask that you treat our condominium with the same respect that you treat your own home. We look forward to welcoming you back year after year. We strive to offer the best Lake Cumberland vacation experience possible.

Apple Valley Resort not allow pets, and our condominium is absolutely SMOKE FREE. No smoking, e-cigarettes, or vapor products.

We do not rent to under age 25, unless with parents.

Lake Cumberland has more shoreline than the state of Florida!

Lake Cumberland is 101 miles long and is one of the largest man-made lakes in the nation. Each year millions of visitors travel from all over the United States to enjoy the rugged beauty of its 63,000 surface acres and 1,255 miles of wooded shoreline.

Known as the “Houseboat Capital of the World”, Lake Cumberland is big, crystal clear and a vacation paradise for fishermen, boaters, and those that just like to sit back and enjoy the view. Russell County is home to four commercial marinas providing boat rentals and lake side restaurants.

Ready to catch the big one? Lake Cumberland offers trophy-size stripers and hold the state records for brown and rainbow trout and walleye. For fly fishermen, the Cumberland River below Wolf Creek Dam offers some of the best trout fishing anywhere.

Hatchery Creek is located below Lake Cumberland immediately behind the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery. The creek starts from the cold water outflow of the hatchery and flows over 6,000 feet before joining the Cumberland River.

Hatchery Creek starts as a maintained park-like fishing area for the first 400 feet from the hatchery outflow, to a small waterfall. This is Upper Hatchery Creek where you can keep up to 5 trout, with no size limit. From the waterfall and downstream is Lower Hatchery Creek where sport fishing regulations limit anglers to artificial lures, and catch and release only.

-CANOE/KAYAK RENTAL below Wolf Creek Dam. Canoe in the Cumberland River, or Lake Cumberland. Paddle to Paradise Island!

About 'Sally' Sharon Lewin Campbell

Our family has had a love affair with Lake Cumberland since our children were very small. We used to stay at the Pumpkin Creek Lodge when it was only $18/night! We did not even know Apple Valley existed until we met another family at one of the State Park activities and they told us they were staying in a privately owned condo at Apple Valley Resort. That was the last time we stayed at the State Park Lodge. Apple Valley was the best of both worlds for us. Close to Lake Cumberland State Park and all the free activities, but peaceful and secluded in a beautiful wooded setting...and a security gate for our family's safety. So we rented an Apple Valley condo for years. Then one unseasonably warm March Saturday we decided to drive down to the lake just for the day. On the way home we stopped at Ralph Roy Realty to see if they ever had any for sale, and what-do-you-know, Ralph Roy himself owned one and it was for sale - The rest is history! Now at least four of our former renters are now owners, and part of the Apple Valley Family! You WILL fall in love with Apple Valley. We now refer to our S-3 unit as APPLE SALLY'S CONDO!!! :)

'Sally' Sharon Lewin Campbell purchased this condo in 1989

Why 'Sally' Sharon Lewin Campbell chose Apple Valley

Apple Valley is the only place we ever considered. We had rented there for years, spending every holiday and a week's summer vacation at Apple Valley. We loved the convenient location of our condo as it is rarely crowded and so easy to load and unload the car and the boat. We enjoy spending quality time with our children and grandchildren at Apple Valley. Relaxing around the campfire (there is a fire ring surrounded by chairs) and roasting marshmallows in the evening is a special treat for the children. It is so nice to relax and unwind under the stars and away from the city lights. The pool is rarely crowded and the playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts are right there too. Kids run around and parents watch, smile, and RELAX! We also enjoy a hike through the woods. Of course we always wind up at the lake and let the kids jump right in Apple Valley's secluded cove!

The Core of Engineers recently constructed a fantastic picnic area and along a rocky beach area at Wolf Creek Dam. (5 miles from condo!)

Covered grilling area with million dollar lake view! Restroom facilities.

Let the kids play in the lake and explore the shoreline while you relax under the shade of the many trees lining the pathway to the park benches and picnic tables. This is our new go-to spot! Our boat is too small when our entire family decides to come all at once, so we take turns on the boat, with easy switching out of passengers at the waters edge. Bring your floats and enjoy the clear wild waters of Lake Cumberland! Great fishing spots here too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Daughter Karen chose this condo for me to stay for my family reunion tomorrow July 1. For all of us, it is coming home…my Dad’s family lived on the Clinton side of the Cumberland River, and Mother’s family lived on Rowena side. The Dam changed so much…In the late 30’s – Daddy would com “a-courting” Mother in a boat – sometimes standing in it. She could hear him singing while he was coming” They married – had a baby boy. They lost him when he was 3 months old. I was born the next year in a log louse just a field away from the Cumberland.

Ma, my mom’s mother was a midwife, and delivered a lot of babies. She did me.

Then the Dam was started. Dad and all my uncles and cousins who were old enough worked on the Dam. Even the grandpas. The older men cleared trees and bushes. They tore down all the houses on the lowland. Dad operated a bulldozer and leveled the dirt walls of the dirt walls of the Dam –or the slopes.

But the down side – The Dam flooded the homes and lands my families had worked on and farmed for generations. Some moved in to Jamestown, - Others moved to Ohio – Indiana – and Tennessee. The Dam scattered families.

Ewe all count Rowena as our hometown – that no longer exists. Rowena is listed on my birth certificate. As I said, the Dam changed our lives. Mother and Dad’s baby had to be moved to Jamestown cemetery.

When I think of “home” I think of Rowena and the Lake – and “76 Falls” – where Dad and his friends hung out as teenagers.

This is home and I’m happy to be back in this condo, and the hills especially. It is so peaceful here. I’ve really enjoyed it.

A county paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This place was utterly amazing! Mrs. Sally was so kind and considerate and her place had everything! The decor was beautiful, and it contained such a homey feel that truly makes you feel like you are literally at your home away from home. So many wonderful amenities offered by the many favorites but if I had to pick one it would be the surprise we received when we got back from hiking at the park. Time got away from us and we had plans to cook was dark we thought we'd try our luck with our surprise the grilling pavilion had lights!! So awesome so we grilled and enjoyed the beautiful starry night sky. We also forgot our charcoal and was so happy the grills were gas powered. Staying at S3 provided me with such peace and tranquility and my family with memories we all will smile back on many years to come!

Owner's Response: What a lovely review! We are so lucky to be able to share our home away from home with wonderful guests like you! Love that you were able to enjoy the gas grilling area in the shelter house under the stars! When we're at the lake, we always end our day by relaxing in the Adirondack chairs by the campfire and enjoying s'mores! Thank you, Krystal!

Owner's Response: Glad you’ve already booked for next year! There are 2 wonderful gas grills at the covered picnic pavilion by the pool. We always provided a grill, but after a guest burned the wall of our neighbor’s condo we chose to direct guests to the community grills. I really appreciate your comments, and taking time to let us know how we can improve. Thank you!

Great location to state dock

Great location. Wonderful communication with Sally. Condo has easy access and good parking for boat and trailer in back. 2nd room access is through the master room and there's a cut out in the wall up top. Kitchen was well stocked. We got to meet a lot of owners. And they where all so open arms. We loved the pool. Very clean facility. Well cared for. Will definitely be returning.

Very clean, comfortable home away!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week at Sally’s condo. First of all, she is amazing when it comes to making sure you have everything you need before you arrive...instructions to get in, places to see, what to bring, etc. and also, she is SO incredibly responsive. The condo is not super close to anything (ie nearest grocery store is 22 minutes away) and local eating is about the same. We loved that it was not a “city” feel. Local restaurants (coes and mammy frogs) were amazing! Condo had everything we needed. The kids loved it. Near state dock so we rented a pontoon one day and did a fishing charter one day (although the charter fishing was terrible due to the high water level in the lake), made walking sticks at the lodge . We also visited all the places sally recommended from land during the hatchery, “beach areas”, hunted for geodes, went into Berea for the day, and fished for trout by the hatchery (not only do you need a license but also needed a trout stamp), swam at the beautiful pool, saw the dam and went to the natural arch which was beautiful. The kids loved the lake and the fact that the trout swam in the cold water behind the dam. We did catch trout in the little river behind the hatchery...a must for fisherman and kids! We also went down by the campground and fished behind the bait shack. Laundry facilities were older but got the job done and at a buck a load was very cheap! Cell service was good but WIFI was no good...we couldn’t get it anywhere. Even though we had to bring our own paper towels, TP, dish soap, etc, there was plenty to start! The bed was SUPER soft! I would highly recommend this condo to anyone wanting a relaxing vacation in a quiet area. And the only opportunity I would recommend is two dish rags and towels for the kitchen...the ones we had were very stinky until we could do laundry. We actually ran to the dollar store to pick some up to switch out! Thanks again for allowing us to use the condo as our home away from home.
