This is our home, built for family gatherings, and accustomed to hospitality. It's our mountain get-away with gorgeous, breath- taking views of the lake from every room in the house. Located 1/2 mile from Interstate 24, it's rural yet only 20 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Built on the side of a mountain, the custom built cabin features mountain views with Lake Nickajack and its two bridges. The wrap around porch and outdoor seating will be one of your favorite areas. The cabin is perfectly arranged for privacy and gatherings. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. There are 3 queen beds, 1 king bed, 5 sofas (4 of them with recliners), wireless internet, fiber optic cable on 5 TVs, good cell phone reception, 1 fabulously equipped kitchen, a second partial kitchen, spacious parking, two driveways, and a single garage. There's something for everyone, from peace and quiet to the hustle and bustle of the city. It's ideal for those who just want to relax and curl up with a good book. You can watch the hummingbirds and bluebirds feeding over the flower garden and every evening, a gorgeous sunset awaits you. Within twenty minutes, you can take advantage of the Chattanooga tourist attractions, such as the Tennessee Aquarium, the Chattanooga Zoo or the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. The marina is 2 miles away for those who want to fish or boat. The twenty mile trail system created by TVA and Sorba are only six miles away at Raccoon Mountain for trail runners or mountain bikers. Motorcyclists will love parking their bikes under cover and having miles of scenic roads to explore. History buffs will appreciate the Civil War history including the National Cemetery, the Missionary Ridge, and the Buttonwillow Civil War Dinner Theatre is 20 miles away. It's a great place for families to disperse then gather back together for meals, games, and fireside chats.
We built this house in 2006 to be our retirement home. We have been in Christian ministry our entire married lives and we are no strangers to hospitality. This house was built for our children and grandchildren. We planned for the families to have a measure of privacy in their own bedroom, but the children would sleep on the sofas and blow up mattresses in the loft, giggling with their cousins when they were supposed to be asleep. We've loved it. Actually my parents love it too and bring their friends to relax and enjoy the beauty of God's creation, breathe the fresh air, and fellowship together. We'd love to share our home with you and hope that time spent here would give you a fresh perspective on life and you'd leave refreshed and full of peace.
Susan Lovett purchased this cabin in 2006
Our family likes to get together for Christmas in a cabin setting. We were booked for Gatlinburg but unfortunately our cabin was one that was destroyed in the fires (which was so sad for the people of Gatlinburg); so I had to quickly search for another cabin for my family. I was so glad to find the Cabin at Nickajack! What a gorgeous cabin! The decor was beautiful and was honestly my "dream cabin". And the owners had it decorated beautifully for Christmas. There were 11 of us: 7 adults and 4 children. There were 4 bedrooms (each with their own bathroom). The children had to sleep in the sofa recliners. For our 2 little guys ( 5 & 7), that was not a problem; but our 12 and 13 yr olds weren't too happy about that. Next time I will bring the blow-up mattress to allow for more comfort for the big kids, but 8 can sleep very well in this cabin. The 3 levels were perfect for our arrangement. It was easy for my elderly mom to get into the cabin on the main level. We allowed her to have the master suite which was VERY nice.
On Saturday we had planned a Christmas cookie baking day and found out the oven wasn't working. Susan was so gracious to work diligently all day to try to get a new stove there for us and that evening a new stove was put in. We rearranged our plans and spent Sunday doing our baking. There were lots of games available to play and lots of books to read. Loved the fireplace in the great room that also worked for the outside deck! The basement level was immaculate with LOTS of room and a mini kitchen. My daughter and her family found this to be perfect for them. The view was spectacular looking out over the lake. This truly was bit of heaven for me as it truly was like our dream cabin. We will certainly make a come-back, even if just for a few quiet days away with just my hubby.....loved the place!!! I feel like I've know Susan for a lifetime; very easy to work with. We made some very special memories at the Cabin at Nickajack! And it was a short drive to Chattanooga to see the Enchanted Lights of Rock City. Most of all, we just enjoyed spending Christmas together in the cabin.
Our family stayed for a week, and we found the cabin to be beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped. The sunset view from the porch can't be beat! Everyone had their own bathroom, which made it very convenient for 3 separate families to have their privacy. The kitchen was well-equipped, and there was lots of seating for meals and for relaxing. We really enjoyed the gas indoor/outdoor fireplace too as the evenings were quite cool :)
Susan was extremely easy to work with. We had to postpone our trip at the last minute due to the flooding in Louisiana 2 months ago. She was extremely understanding and helpful, allowing us to reschedule for a later date even though we were due to arrive the next week. I can't tell you how much our family appreciated that kind gesture She was also very responsive to our questions, which put our mind at ease that we could reach her easily with any questions.
We all very much enjoyed our stay and all 7 of us agreed that we would stay there again. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!
We chose this home to stay in during our family vacation to Chattanooga. It was an awesome place to stay. We loved that each bedroom has its own bathroom which provided privacy, and we also enjoyed the large family areas that allowed us to spend time together as a family. The kitchen is well equipped. Susan is extremely easy to work with. We had a great time and would love to stay here again if we decide to return to Chattanooga.
This cabin was a perfect for a weekend getaway with my family. We were able to meet up with my adult children and their kids. Every family got their own bedroom and bathroom. We were able to spend time together as a whole family and be able to have our private areas as well. It is a great home away from home. We were even able to start a fire in the fire pit outside (wood was provided). We would love to stay again!
Our family stayed here for Father's Day week end, and it was ideal. The house is spacious, clean, welcoming and well stocked. The porch, the view, the fire pit, and the surrounding area were all big pluses. We wanted to do things in Chattanooga and we were only about 15-20 minutes away from all the attractions and sites. This is a rental that lived up to all the expectations. There were 16 of us and it accommodated us with no problem.
Beautiful!! It was the perfect getaway home for the yearly Miller Family Vacation. 6 kids from 16 to 6 and 7 adults. We all had plenty of room. The second living room was perfect to give the kids there own space. Kitchen was very well supplied for all our cooking needs and had plenty of space to move around. Could go on all day about how amazing this home was. Susan was great to speak with, wonderful communicationsummer through the rental process and stay. Security deposit was returned very fast. If at any point in the future I take the family back to Chattanooga, this is were we will stay!
