The Port Bolivar/Galveston Ferry Landing is two miles away with access to all the sites and attractions of Galveston Island just a free boat ride away. Crystal Beach is 10 miles in the other direction with the Big Store and Stingaree Marina. Access to the big beach (the one that runs the length of Crystal Beach) and the Audubon Society's Tidal Flats Sanctuary is a little over a mile from the house. You're welcome to bring and use golf carts to get around, but please be aware they cannot be driven on the highway.

About Property Manager
I am Elouise Carpenter, a retired teacher, and my husband is a retired plumber. My son, an aspiring writer and avid gamer, lives at home helping with house and yard maintenance, and some bookings for the cabin. My daughter Elizabeth 'Lisa' Valastro is an insurance agent in Nederland, TX and handles the bookings for the cabin my son misses. I also have two grand daughters and two great grandsons in the Golden Triangle area.
Property Manager purchased this House in 1964
Why Property Manager chose Port Bolivar
I purchased land and had the home built in 1964 at that time as a beach cabin. In 1967 my family and I moved in and became residents of the Bolivar Peninsula. After Hurricane Alicia we built a newer home and moved into it. The original cabin was used for storage never being fully utilized. After years of sitting empty, we decided to revamp the original homestead as a rental home. It was completed in 2009, survived Hurricane Ike, and served as a residence for others who lost their home until they could repair or relocate. We have repainted and furnished the interior, and it's ready for weekly and weekend beach going renters.
What makes this House unique
Scenic beaches and beautiful sunsets make this a wonderful place to relax. Local Activities include fishing, crabbing, beach combing and bird watching. A short ferry ride to Galveston provides numerous sightseeing/tourism opportunities like historic home tours, Moody Gardens, and the Schlitterbahn Waterpark!

Has everything you need
Third year in a row to stay here. It’s not fancy but has everything I need and well priced!
We love staying here and we love the family that rents it!
This is our 3rd summer staying here and we love it! The family is amazing and it is awesome to be so close to the ferry and only like 8 minutes from the beach. We love that we are on the quieter and less crowded side of the ferry and beach.
Highly recommend it!
Great place to sleep while vacationing.
We were here to see relatives and do the beach thing. We only needed the cabin for sleeping accomodations. For the price, it was nicer than any hotel we could have stayed at on the peninsula.
Bathroom smell unbearable. Had to make up all the beds on arrival. Firepit area unuseable.
Stove sitting on the front porch. Only part of the yards were mowed. Nails backing out on the stairs. Ice box smelled like fish. Note on the icebox indicated the bed sheets and towels needed to be washed before departure. I did complete that request and made up the beds for the next guest, so the could actually feel like they were on vacation.
Apologies for the unfortunate conditions you encountered during your stay. I will speak with my family members who stayed on the premises prior to your arrival about the condition they left the cabin in, especially the fish smell in the fridge, especially since they didn't spend any time fishing and should have told me about the smell while they were there. We do typically leave the beds unmade as some renters bring their own sheets and pillowcases, however the beds always have a mattress protector and pillow protectors in place. As soon as my surgery recovery is complete I will remedy the nail issue and remove the stove, which was supposed to be taken from the property by my family also at the end of their stay. Please send me a message about how the firepit area was unusable and I will work on getting it improved before any future visits. I reviewed your rental and found you had agreed to pay the cleanup fees, so any notes on the fridge could have been disregarded in terms of cleaning, however as my after-stay inspection of the property was positive, I have refunded the cleaning fees in addition to your deposit, which should arrive in your account through VRBO in a few days. Your husband was very nice and understanding about our situation when he spoke with the owner during your stay. I will work to make improvements in our communications system with renters in the future. No renters should ever feel they cannot reach out to us about problems on the property while staying with us, we are always within walking distance of the property if we are needed to remedy an issue.
Thank you for your honest review. It's good to know where we fell short of our renters expectations so we can improve.

Very quite and property clean. Spend one week and no issues. Good enjoyable time with family. Beach and ferry is nearby, to ride around Galveston and Crystal beach. Kids enjoyed spending time at the beach and feeling at home in the cabin.
Would recommend to anyone!
We came down with some friends and had 8 of us and we all had a place to sleep. Great for people that plan on staying on the beach all day. Will come back. ALSO a BIG THANK YOU to the owner, because some how we left my little girl's bears that she sleeps with and the owner called me to let me know and unfortunately we were too far away to turn around and the owner mailed the bears to me at no cost to me.
