About the property

3 bedroom 1 bath with view of the Galveston Ship Channel and Nesting Waterfoul

Our cabin has a fully remodeled interior. It sleeps 8 comfortably, has 2 private bedrooms each with a queen bed, one open concept bedroom with 2 queen beds, and 1 bath. Central Heat and AC, 4 TVs, DirecTV, wi-fi, a dvd player, dishwasher, washer, dryer, electric stove, full fridge, microwave, toaster, crockpot, coffee maker and blender.

Outside there is a small deck in front, medium deck in back, slab below, gas grill, 5 patio chairs and fire pit. DO NOT BURN THE FIRE PIT UNDER THE HOUSE. Move it from under the house before lighting a single match please.

Walking distance from the cabin is the North Jetty, providing an excellent venue for unguided nature walks with stunning views of the nesting waterfoul and migratory marsh birds, and some excellent fishing and crabbing spots. There's a small beach (4 blocks long) with a boat launch. Scenic Fort Travis is a short drive away. The Port Bolivar/Galveston Ferry Landing is two miles away with access to all the sites and attractions of Galveston Island just a free boat ride away. Crystal Beach is 10 miles in the other direction with the Big Store and Stingaree Marina. Access to the big beach (the one that runs the length of Crystal Beach) and the Audubon Society's Tidal Flats Sanctuary is a little over a mile from the house. You're welcome to bring and use golf carts to get around, but please be aware they cannot be driven on the highway.

About Property Manager

I am Elouise Carpenter, a retired teacher, and my husband is a retired plumber. My son, an aspiring writer and avid gamer, lives at home helping with house and yard maintenance, and some bookings for the cabin. My daughter Elizabeth 'Lisa' Valastro is an insurance agent in Nederland, TX and handles the bookings for the cabin my son misses. I also have two grand daughters and two great grandsons in the Golden Triangle area.

Property Manager purchased this house in 1964

Why Property Manager chose Gulf Coast

I purchased land and had the home built in 1964 at that time as a beach cabin. In 1967 my family and I moved in and became residents of the Bolivar Peninsula. After Hurricane Alicia we built a newer home and moved into it. The original cabin was used for storage never being fully utilized. After years of sitting empty, we decided to revamp the original homestead as a rental home. It was completed in 2009, survived Hurricane Ike, and served as a residence for others who lost their home until they could repair or relocate. We have repainted and furnished the interior, and it's ready for weekly and weekend beach going renters.

What makes this house unique

Scenic beaches and beautiful sunsets make this a wonderful place to relax. Local Activities include fishing, crabbing, beach combing and bird watching. A short ferry ride to Galveston provides numerous sightseeing/tourism opportunities like historic home tours, Moody Gardens, and the Schlitterbahn Waterpark!

Last Minute Summer Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Last minute vacation before kids headed back to school. So glad we found this place to stay we usually stay on the Galveston side in a hotel. But this is by far way better stay, makes you feel at home especially if you have kids. They provide everything you need besides food. I will be recommending family and friends. Thanks!!!

Really Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

A group of friends and I stayed here for a small vacation and the house was great! It's close to a jetty and a short drive to some of the beaches on Port Bolivar. The house accommodated the 6 of us very well, and it was very comfortable. I would recommend this house, especially if you are looking for a quieter area with good Texas beaches.

Great location for our family!

  • 5 of 5

We have enjoyed Pt Bolivar every summer since my childhood. This time we decided to come for the fall flounder run. We had a great time fishing and had a big fish fry our last night there. The Carpenters were not in the least bit intrusive, in fact, we wouldn't have known they were the owners if we hadn't known beforehand. The cabin had everything we needed including kitchen items. We'll check with the Carpenters next year if we decide to do another "flounder run" fishing trip. The La Playita diner is only a couple miles away and they are open for all meals. We were not disappointed. We had a great time!
