The master bedroom features a new King-size bed, 2 bedside tables with reading lamps, an antique dresser with mirror, and two double closets. Our pine headboard with marble stone insets was hand-crafted in Mexico, and our brightly colored bedspread was hand woven in the Zapotec village, Teotitlan del Valle, in the Mexican state Oaxaca. The middle bedroom has a Queen-size bed, bedside table, wall mounted reading light, and a spacious closet. The third bedroom contains twin beds, bedside table, wall-mounted reading lights, an antique dresser, and a large closet. Additional towels, linens, and blankets are available in each bedroom closet. The living room has a Southwestern couch with 2 reclining seats, microsuede reclining chair, brown fabric love seat, 32-inch TV with cable, DVD player, WiFi, and a bookcase with books, puzzles, and games. Along with other books, there is a set of 15 hardback Navajo mysteries by Tony Hillerman. The well-equipped kitchen has a breakfast bar with three stools and is open to the dining room which has a dining table that will seat 6, a love seat, a corner computer desk, a side table with a radio & cassette/CD player and music CDs. The dining room’s sliding glass door opens to our private patio that is completely enclosed and partially covered. The patio has a table with umbrella, 8 chairs, wicker love seat, BBQ grill (charcoal & starter fluid provided), flagstone flooring, a high adobe wall and wood fence, and a seating banco. About Owner/Manager Charly Bullock

I am a retired educator. I have been married to Cathy, also an educator, for 47 years. We have two sons and many grandchildren. We enjoy traveling, hiking, bicycling, reading, writing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with our family. I grew up in Oklahoma (elementary school years) and Colorado. Cathy grew up in Colorado. We met and married at Colorado State University. Cathy and I moved to New Mexico in 1974 and we love living in Albuquerque. I take the main responsibility for our townhouse, but Cathy happily pitches in when needed. We live near the townhouse and are always available to help with planning your time in Albuquerque.

Owner/Manager Charly Bullock purchased this townhome in 2012

Why Owner/Manager Charly Bullock chose Villa De Paza

We love Albuquerque's westside where modern meets ancient. The vibrancy of the city butts up against ancient rock art carved onto volcanic rock just over a mile away from Casa de Paz. The townhouse is conveniently located near the intersection of I-40 and Coors Blvd allowing quick and easy access to ABQ's many wonderful attractions. We are only minutes away from the Petroglyph National Monument Visitor’s Center (1.5 miles) and its many hiking trails, Ladera Golf Course (1.3 mi), Old Town (4 mi), many museums (6 within 4 mi), the Botanic Gardens & Aquarium (4.5 mi), Rio Grande Zoo (5.5 mi), the Rio Grande Nature Center (5.5 mi), Open Space Visitor Center (4 mi), city parks, multi-use trails in the bosque paralleling the Rio Grande, Pueblo Indian Cultural Center (4.5), Cottonwood Mall (6.5 miles), theaters, balloon rides, great restaurants, and so many other great attractions. Our location offers easy access to our diverse cultures, history, art, architecture, food, concerts & live theater productions, outdoor activities, and our outstanding university. Our location offers easy access to the Park & Ride buses available during the Balloon Fiesta (early October).

What makes this townhome unique

Our adobe-walled, private patio is the place to begin your day with a cup of coffee or tea, and then it's the place to relax with your favorite beverage after your day of sightseeing and exploring. Huffington Post calls Albuquerque "one of America's Five Secretly Cool Cities," offering authentic southwest culture by the bucketful, seemingly endless number of multi-use trails, an inexpensive gondola ride to the peak of Sandia Mountain, and, of course, artisanal green chile cheeseburgers. Add in the region's unique multicultural heritage (architecture, a ton of good food, festivals, local traditions, and so many wonderful people!) and you've got a city that's not staying under the radar forever. Casa de Paz provides an ideal location providing quick and easy access to our city's many wonderful features.

Many publications have ranked Albuquerque as one of America's top travel destinations. National Geographic Travel named Albuquerque as one of "The Best Cities in the United States." Today's Parent says ABQ is one of the best destinations for Springtime Family Travel. Travel+Leisure and Groupon say that we are one of the friendliest cities in America. Travel+Leisure also picked ABQ as one of the most charming cities to visit. USA Today says that we are one of the most Wildlife Friendly cities. ABQ is on Outside Magazine’s list of the 10 Best Big Cities for Active Families. National Geographic says the 550 hot air balloons that launch during our Balloon Fiesta present a "forest of billowing color." This is perhaps the only mass launch of balloons where visitors can wander the 78-acre field right next to the launching balloons. And the Travel Channel places our Botanic Garden in the top 5 in the country. The Botanic River of Lights display was named one of "The 15 Most Spectacular Holiday Light Displays in the U.S." by MSN. So please come stay at Casa de Paz and enjoy the many wonderful virtues of our city.

Outstanding charm ~ Over the Top Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Charly met us upon arrival. He and Cathy go over the top with hospitality. They think of everything before you arrive. There were an array of foods, teas, coffee and just everything you could need in this home. They also had milk, cereal, eggs and condiments supplied. Oh Salsa, kind personal notes, chips...I just can't believe how kind and thoughtful they are. It was so a pleasant surprise. Makes the start great so you have some basics to start your vacation.

They decor, art and large selection of games were just the start. As you tour through the home you can find books of the native american culture - history and Native American Art together with bright and happy colors and pictures of Balloon Festival surround you.

We will come back again and again. We have so many books to read and games to play.

The living room is so comfortable with the couches that recline and open feeling for a nice family gathering.

The kitchen is well stocked with a dining area into the lovely patio. All the beds were very comfortable supplied with more than enough linens towels and even the bathroom came supplied with toiletries and hair products. Together with this we also had a full washer and dryer and again supplied us with laundry soaps and such.

Charlie even came by and dropped of a special balloon festival coloring book for our Grand kids who were staying with us.

This is certainly a charming home together with the lovely host and hostess that make you feel like you're welcome and cared for.

We are from Kauai and this is true "ALOHA"

Thank you Charly and Cathy.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your beautiful review of Casa de Paz! We are pleased that you enjoyed the food, the Southwestern décor, the comfortable rooms and furniture, and all the other amenities. We are also pleased that, as you mentioned by phone, your two 5-year-old grandchildren loved the play area in our private community park. Our weather during the week you were here was just perfect for the children to play outdoors. We’re also glad that you and the grandchildren enjoyed playing “Trouble.” That was always a favorite game of our sons when they were little, and it was also loved by our grandchildren. Communicating with you via email and phone while you were still at home in Hawaii, and then while you were driving from California to New Mexico, let us know we had very special guests arriving. It was indeed a pleasure meeting the two of you when you arrived, and then meeting your little grandchildren when they arrived a few minutes later. Thank you for leaving the townhouse so clean after your weeklong stay. That was quite considerate of you. It must be difficult leaving your lush Hawaiian paradise, but we do hope you will return. Aloha, Charly & Cathy

Outstanding townhouse, thoughtful host, convenient location.

  • 5 of 5

It wasn't until we became a family of 5 that it really became apparent to us that the world seems to be designed for families of 4. From restaurant table sizes, to passenger cars, and especially to hotel rooms - for a family of 5 you're always 1 seat (or bed) short. On our many previous trips to Albuquerque, we have been squeezing into too small hotel rooms, or trying to find suites that worked (and were affordable), and nothing quite fit right. This year, we decided to try VRBO instead, and ended up choosing Casa De Paz. To say we were delighted with the property, and the host, would be a considerable understatement. The home was perfect for our family of 5 - usually after about 4 days everyone is eager to head home - but this year it felt like we could have stayed much longer! Charly was an incredibly thoughtful host - from some starter snacks and basics in the fridge allowing us to avoid a late night trip to the grocery store the night we arrived, to hand written welcome cards, and notes to clear up any possible confusion in the home as to where to find things. There were books, puzzles, and all kinds of activities in the home to keep the kids occupied - it was hands down our favorite place to stay from all of our trips to Albuquerque and we hope to return to Casa De Paz on our next trip. Thank you Charly!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your fantastic review! You five were very considerate guests, leaving the townhouse as clean as it was when you arrived. I was glad that I could meet the five of you, but, since we were leaving town the next day, I worried that I would be gone if you needed something. I'm glad that your Thanksgiving stay was a good one. When our sons were growing up, we traveled as a family of four so I never considered how accommodations were not designed for larger groups. Now we frequently travel with extended family and we too find that vacation rentals are ideal for us. I am pleased that you were comfortable at Casa de Paz and found plenty to occupy the kids. I do hope you will keep us in mind for your next trip to Albuquerque. Thanks again for choosing Casa de Paz as your headquarters while visiting ABQ!

Exactly like the photos

Roomy adorable townhome. Seemed to be 15 minutes from anything we wanted to do in ABQ. The proximity to the main interstates made getting around very easy. Owner had many special touches including basic groceries, brochures, information on local spots and a thoughtful welcome note. The little park inside the townhome community was a great place to throw the football with a 9-yr. old and to work out. Nice enclosed patio out back. The owner made everything easy. Our family would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: Michele, you and your family were great guests! I'm glad that you found Casa de Paz's location convenient to every place you wanted to go. The weather for our 2017 International Balloon Fiesta was excellent, so I'm glad that you were able to watch the balloons launch and fly over ABQ. I'm also glad that you were able to enjoy our community park for exercise and tossing the football. I'm pleased you enjoyed our private patio. You left the townhouse just as you found it which we greatly appreciate. You even washed and folded the towels, something we don't ask our guests to do, so thanks for your extra effort. We look forward to having you stay at Casa de Paz the next time you visit New Mexico.

Beyond all expectations!

  • 5 of 5

This rental exceeded all expectations! We were a group of 5 with 2 teenage boys. The unit is meticulously cared for. There were welcome gifts upon our arrival, and basic items in the refrigerator. Owners were very attentive and quick to offer suggestions on dining, entertainment, and activities. The unit is very close to the freeway, offering easy travel to anywhere in the city!

Owner's Response: Thank you Kristen for this wonderful review! It was a real pleasure meeting you and your family. I'm so very happy that you were able to enjoy so much while in Albuquerque: the 2017 International Balloon Fiesta, the Sandia Mountain Tram, Old Town, the Rio Grande BioPark (both the zoo and the botanical garden). Wow, you all experienced so many great attractions in your 6 days in Albuquerque! I know local residents who haven't experienced all of those wonderful activities. I'm glad you enjoyed Casa de Paz and found that the townhouse and amenities exceeded your expectations. We hope you will visit again. Thank you for being wonderful guests!

The property was clean, warm & welcoming.

It was decorated with notable art and Southwest accent pieces. The owner stocked the refrigerator with common groceries such as milk butter, yogurts, etc. The cupboard was stocked with cereal, coffee, flour, etc. We would return in a heartbeat!

Owner's Response: Thank you Bruce for your nice review. I enjoyed meeting you and your family, and I'm glad that you will be our neighbor (not too far away) fairly soon. It's great that our location worked out for you to meet with design folks planning for your new home. I am pleased that you found Casa de Paz to be comfortable for the four of you. I look forward to seeing you again and hosting any family members that come to visit you once your are relocated.

Colorful, Fun and Everything We Needed.

  • 5 of 5

We are full time travelers ( So we have stayed in many, many HomeAway/VRBO properties.

Casa De Paz was a wonderful town home to stay in. The owners were extremely courteous, attentive and helpful throughout our entire stay.

Casa De Paz is located in a housing division called Villa De Paz. It is a nice and peaceful area with a park and pool in the center of it. We enjoyed walking, for exercise, around it daily.

Villa De Paz is conveniently located on the West Side of Albuquerque and just off of a main road that you can literally find almost anything you want.

The interior of the house was outfitted with all of the amenities that we needed. The beds and furniture were comfortable and the outside patio space was an enjoyable retreat to read books under the Albuquerque sun.

I have no problems recommending anyone to stay in Casa De Paz.

Safe Travels!

Owner's Response: Thank you Chase for the fine review of Casa de Paz. You and your family were great guests and we are pleased that you found your two-month stay (May & June) at our townhome so enjoyable. I'm glad that I was able to meet your family. You packed a lot into your long stay, visiting many of Albuquerque's wonderful sites along with excursions to Santa Fe, the Turquoise Trail, and the Sandia Mountains. I'm pleased that you enjoyed family hikes in Petroglyph National Monument and in the Sandia Mountains. Cathy and I enjoyed reading your blog posts about your experiences in New Mexico. We wish your family wonderful journeys as you explore each of our 50 states!

We are located near the intersection of I-40 and Coors Blvd. We like this location because of the quick and easy access to so many wonderful attractions. We are only minutes away from the Petroglyph National Monument, Old Town, many museums, the Botanic Gardens and Zoo, parks, Ladera Golf Course, hiking trails in the bosque paralleling the Rio Grande, Pueblo Indian Cultural Center, shopping, balloon rides, great restaurants, and so many other great attractions.

We love Albuquerque because of the great quality of life including New Mexico's diverse cultures, life styles, history, art, architecture, food, dance, theaters, outdoor activities, and our outstanding university.

Huffington Post calls Albuquerque one of America's "Five Secretly Cool Cities." ABQ offers authentic Southwest culture by the bucketful and is wildly underrated as a destination for lovers of the great outdoors. Noteworthy microbreweries like Marble and La Cumbre are the place to be once work is done. And let's not forget the seemingly endless number of multi-use trails, the cheap gondola rides to epic, high-elevation hiking, or the artisanal green chile cheeseburgers. Add in the region's unique multicultural heritage (think architecture, think a ton of good food, festivals, local traditions) and you've got a city that's not staying under the radar forever.
