Treated us like family
Marie treated us like we were family. She picked us up from the ferry and even took us to the grocery store when we were without a rental car. The first night I arrived alone after the stores and restaurants were closed and she invited me to have a lovely Polynesian dinner with her and her kind husband Gilles. Not a day went by when Marie wasn’t available to help advise us on activities, help us get local discounts, bring us fresh fruit from the garden, or just chat. She speaks fluent English which was a big help too.
The house was the most comfortable rental I’ve stayed at. I loved sitting in the living room or on the zero gravity chair on the back porch and watch the ocean and the boats pass by. Everything was quite clean and well maintained with lots of extra bath towels, sheets, and cleaning supplies for a long stay. Bikes and kayaks were great for day excursions.
Getting to meet Marie and her husband Gilles was one of the highlights of our trip!
I stayed at Marie's place during September, encountering welcome but unexpected experiences. She very energetically, when she had time, showed my friend and I off-road spots near Belvedere. Moreover, I wanted to see what Chinese-Tahitian food was like, and she surprised me with the idea of eating at the one fancy Chinese place on the island. There are not many places in the world where you will be serenaded by a Tahitian band while eating well-made Chinese cuisine.
The house itself is cozy and clean. It has what you need to cook, stay fresh, and watch weird French TV. I took a few swims straight from the dock, which has quite shallow water for a few hundred meters but gives an excellent entry into Opunohu Bay. And my friend and I, somewhat naively, went on a rather long kayak ride from the dock that could have led us astray given the wind.
If you don't want to live in a contrived environment like at the resorts but still want have easy access to all the hotel beaches and excellent snack shops nearby, def stay at Marie's place. I will forever miss her deserts and her admonishments.
Thank you Jammie Jeff and John for your visit and for being a part of our big familly now .
Jeff be a good boy now.
Mauruuru roa for your visit and good luck fo your works
Island to Island
We have just spent a most relaxing and special holiday on Moorea as guests at the pension of Marie-Lou. From the first day we were welcomed as friends to her family of husband Gilles and friendly dogs Rex and Queenie. At the house we enjoyed comfortable accommodation with everything we needed. We even found treats in the fridge on our arrival! The position of the house allows ample space from the garden or deck to admire the mesmerising lagoon and the small pier is an excellent bonus for kayaking. Having grown up nearby, Marie-Lou was a wonderful source of helpful information from historical events to present day tourist possibilities. She was very generous with her time, taking us shopping and showing us local highlights. We so enjoyed the time spent with Marie and Gilles who are relaxed and entertaining hosts. Thank you for sharing your corner of paradise with us. We look forward to returning to your stunningly beautiful island. Caro & John
Terrific Tranquil Time in Moorea!!!
We completely lucked out with booking MarieLou and Gilles' waterfront rental. From the moment we met Marie at the dock we knew we were in for an amazing experience. This couple, Marie and Gilles, are the ultimate hosts with an beautiful rental, complete knowledge/background on the island (being locals), connections to any activity, and extremely generous with their time and energy. We walked into a clean house, treats in the fridg., and an ocean view. The place was perfect with its comfortable bedrooms, showers (inside and out), large deck, lush yard, fun kayaks, bicycles, and a private ocean pier ( there is plenty more I am forgetting about). Marie and Gilles helped us with everything from grocery shopping, adventure tours (lead by Marie), tasty meals, and lots of laughs. The four of us highly recommend this place and hope it is not booked when we want to return. Mauruuru!!!!
Moorea, a true paradise of flowers, beautiful water, majestic peaks, and wonderful hospitality. MarieLou greeted us and really shared her island, and island stories with us. She showed us what Polynesian life is really like. We learned so much about the people, the island and the life. The location was perfect, nestled next to the oponopa bay. Located on the water with a boat dock and making kayaking very accessible. We really had all the amenities we could want and then some. The surrounding gardens were cared for with love and the setting so serene. I would highly recommend this place. MarieLou and Gilles were excellent hosts and fun story tellers.
