This is a superb, fully air-conditioned, spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment in the St James complex in Praia da Luz. The huge balcony can be accessed from both bedrooms & lounge via patio doors, allowing all guests to enjoy the delights of Algarve outdoor living. The St James complex provides a children's play area and both adults' & children's pools all set in landscaped gardens. Alternatively, if you are feeling a little more energetic, you could stroll down to the blue-flag beach or visit the many varied shops and wonderful restaurants and bars that the charming village of Luz has to offer. For golfers, there are 4 golf courses between a 5 and 20 minute drive of the apartment and the beaches of the western Algarve are famous for both surfing and fishing.

Praia da Luz Beach: A short 10min walk from the apartment brings you to the gently shelving Luz beach, with soft golden sands. The remnants of volcanic activity from long ago can been seen at the far end of the beach, know locally as the Rocha Negra or 'Black Rock'.

Rock pools and a beach-front restaurant, complete with children’s play area make the beach a great place for all the family!

Activities / Things to do: From Luz, there are day trip coaches to the water parks (Aqualand is one) and the Dolphin park (Zoomarine), and many other attractions in the Algarve.

Surfing, sailing, fishing and scuba-diving trips can be booked for departure from Luz or nearby Lagos.

Travel Arrangements: The apartment is c.80km/50miles from Faro airport and travel time should take about 50min-1hour. Full directions can be found on our website. You don't need a car to get to or travel around Luz as bus and taxi services operate to and from Luz and Faro airport. Car hire is available in the town for those who wish to explore the Algarve.

It is a lovely area and a lovely apartment, and we all wished we were staying longer!



The weather as you may have heard was very hot even by Portuguese standards, so at least we were prepared for England's heatwave!

Huge 50m2 balcony with hardwood dining table, six hardwood chairs and parasol. 2 steamer chairs and 2 sunbeds fully equip this fabulous outdoor space. The property is managed by a local agency that speaks perfect English and will be happy to help with any of your requirements. We try to be flexible with changeover days where possible. This allows you to look for the best flight prices. Towels and bedding are changed weekly. Please supply your own beach/pool towels. Weekly cleaning included. Lovely spacious apartment

We have just returned from a week in this lovely apartment. It is spacious and has everything you could need for a holiday including a huge terrace. We were particularly impressed with the step stool in the kitchen for the "not so tall people"to reach the higher cupboards in the kitchen. I would certainly recommend this apartment.

Home from home

Having previously owned property in Praia da Luz, David's apartment was as comfortable as mine was. Spending 28 days in February passed so quick.

There is so much space both inside and outside that even if 4 or 5 people were staying you would each have your own space without being under each other's feet!

The kitchen is well equipped, one item lifts the apartment (for me) over so many others - a teapot! Maybe an orange juicer would be a bonus! The rest of the apartment was comfortable with plenty of seating in the lounge and a decent sized dining table comfortably seating 6 if necessary.

Beds were so comfy, almost made you not want to get up in the morning!

As for the outdoor space, I don't think the photos fully prepare you for just how much space you have. It is certainly one of the largest terraces I've found and it gets the sun (even in winter) from sunrise until late afternoon.

Lux itself is a quiet little place but there are many eating places dotted around the many quaint streets and the beach is larger than it may first appear. For the truly energetic you can climb up to the Pinnacle - good luck! There are many local walks around there to keep the keenest walker busy!

Luz is an ideal base for getting out and about into the Western Algarve so I would recommend car hire (although you can get there from Faro by train and bus). 20 minutes takes you to the most south westerly point of Europe at Cap St Vicente where as well as getting a galao (local coffee) at the lighthouse you can walk for miles along the stunning cliff tops.

Lagos is an easy 10 minute drive with it's many small shops and cafes - and Aldi/Lidl if you want those. The lighthouse has many footpaths which give stunning views of the coastline including Black Rock and Luz.

Portimao with its large Aqua shopping centre is less than half an hour away for anyone who needs a regular fix of shops with many big names (for the Iberian Peninsula) like Primark, Punt Roma, Zara, C&A etc.

For truly spectacular views be sure to up to Foia, the highest point in the Algarve where on a clear day you get a good view of the Algarve race track, views of Portimao in the distance and also up the West Coast.

There are many secluded beaches, just find a road, drive down and you will be surprised what you will find!

Spacious apartment with everything you need. Great for a family or 2 couples. Walk to the beautiful beach and grocery. Our family loved it - would love to come back for longer than 4 nights.

An excellent apartment in a really nice complex.

We've stayed in Luz numerous times but this was our first stay in this apartment/complex & we genuinely thought it was excellent. The apartment is bright, spacious & spotless. The balcony really is fantastic.....it's huge & gets the sun for practically the whole day. The pool area was really nice, busy enough throughout our stay but we still managed to get sunbeds & there was a nice atmosphere about the place.

The wifi in the apartment is also excellent & the android tv box was a big hit with our teenage kids .

There's an Italian restaurant just below the complex which also does takeaways & a small supermarket just up the road.

The apartment is also in a really good location, literally a few minutes walk into the centre of things & also only short stroll to the beach.

I would honestly highly recommend the apartment to anyone who is planning to visit Praia da Luz.....you will not be disappointed.

Praia da Luz is a beach destination in the Algarve, at just under one hours easy drive from Faro airport. The development of the town is mostly low rise apartments and villas of all sizes, and the facilities are mainly aimed at family holidays, although suitable for people of all ages. There is a great variety of family friendly restaurants and bars, good shops and supermarkets and all the amenities for a complete holiday. There is a beautiful sandy beach perfect for sun bathing and water sports, and Luz beach sports the European blue flag indicating clean sand and clean water. To the east of town you find some spectacular cliffs and among them the prominent black rock Rocha Negra. This is an intrusion of lava produced from the volcanoes of Monchique some 190 million to 135 million years ago. Luz is just 8 minutes west of the larger historic town of Lagos which is provides great sightseeing, plenty of shopping, good night life, and a large established marina.

Golf: For golfers, there are 4 golf courses within 5 - 20 minutes drive from the apartment.
