About the property

Very private, very cool. And a huge Guanacaste tree in the backyard. This cabin has breezes, killer views and total tranquility. A separate bedroom with two twin beds and 3 walls of screening offering great jungle immersion! In the living area an additional double bed with built in back-rests provides a comfy place to hang out during the day and room for two more at night.

Full kitchen with coffee maker and all dishes, full bath with on-demand propane hot water, small covered porch and a great yard for watching wild-life. Step outside and enjoy the new outdoor shower with lights, curtains and great hot water!

Feel free to use the WiFi at our main house and take a dip in our invigorating, spring-fed plunge pool!

A short drive up from the beach, at over 600 feet in elevation, enjoy cooler temps, amazing wildlife and breathtaking views of the valley and ocean below. Welcome to Edge of the World where our rental cabins are perched above 180 acres of private jungle, including several seasonal waterfalls, a lagoon, a wide variety of fruit trees, walking areas, birding and more -- right on the property!

World renown as a surf mecca, Dominical has amazing breaks and great beginner beaches just to the South. The sleepy little town with dirt roads is quiet and peaceful, but there are still bars, restaurants and shopping. Phenomenal beaches are a short drive in either direction, along with other amazing outdoor adventures like hiking, horse-back riding, ziplining, waterfalls and cultural destinations.

A beautiful experience in the jungle

  • 5 of 5

After having been in chilly Arenal for a few days, the sticky heat of Dominical in a cabin was a little bit of an adjustment, but it cooled off at night and, with the help of a couple of fans, we were actually chilly by the time we woke up. After a day at the beach, it felt especially nice. There was not much breeze, though. The cabin looked very pretty and clean and we didn’t have any bug problems, save for one (weirdly adorable) cockroach the size of a semi (Lesson: Leave no pizza box out in the rainforest). I wasn’t expecting how dry CR was in general, but it makes sense since we stayed at the end of summer there. Dominical was greener than the towns to the north, so it was nice to see the terrain getting greener as we drove and, while the road to the property was dusty, the property itself didn’t appear very dry at all. Nauyaca Waterfall is a hike that starts just up the road and is particularly spectacular. I will say that, after the first night, I found myself craving an AC hotel room with a comforting TV, but I think it was because we arrived in the dark, didn’t know what was around us, felt a little hot, and I'd been up all night with a headache. But (hear ye hear ye) after that, I was happy to have the more authentic experience of being in Costa Rica, living less like a tourist for once. There was a nearby place with AC for something like $60 more per night and, from one societally-conditioned, occasional-camper human to another, I can honestly say I am glad I picked this cabin. I would do it again. Luke and Devin were very welcoming, gave spectacular ideas for what to do and what to watch out for, and suggested a much better route through the cloud forest to San Jose. I already miss waking up with coffee on the patio with that view.
