10-15 mins drive to Kendal so easy to get there on major road. Well equipped accommodation. Good views across valley. Parking on site good.plenty of hot water and underfloor heating. Coarse fishing lake on site which wasn’t particularly advertised beforehand, or I may have brought some of my fishing gear!
Nice place, the DEN once I found it, but to be fair I probably didn’t follow the directions , what can I say? i’m a bloke.
The property itself, very nice and secluded on a working farm - we had all manner of animals sharing the patio with us, chickens, roosters (no they didn’t wake us up), ducks, goats, peacocks…
Enjoyed it
An excellent property, very well built and maintained. Lovely quiet situation with regular visits from ducks, rabbits, guinea fowl, pea hens and chickens. Wonderful view of the Howgills from French door windows. It is small with storage space a bit limited but that is to be expected. We would love to go back should the opportunity occur.
This cottage was very quite, the farm animals were very entertaining. The bedroom & bathroom were cosy but adequate. There was not a lot of storage space in the kitchen but it was well stocked with crockery & utensils. There Is ample parking & good supermarket shopping near at Kendal.
Amazing getaway with husband celebrating our 10year anniversary we stayed 3 nights
Amazing views chickens and peacocks to wake up to every morning soo peaceful just what we needed.. Theres a fishing lake just 10minz away that was amazing aswell.. Definitely will be back
The only negative thing about this cottage was the bed.. It was like sleeping on rocks.. Mattress was rock hard we woke up with bad backs.. Just needs a softer mattress.
Location was exactly what we wanted ...away from people, close to nature and friendly animals to boot. We loved the roaming chickens, pea hens and horse. We would definitely come back here again. Great as a base to visit lakes without having to stay amongst the hussle bustle.
Lovely cottage, in a lovely private setting. We stayed in 'The Den' and has everything you need for 2 people for a 3 night stay, could have happily stayed longer. (If you do washing on holiday then you'd need to look somewhere else).
It's a super cosy cottage and was perfect for a relaxing get away. We self catered throughout our stay and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Would have been great if there was a local pub or cafe to walk to but it's only a 5-10 minute car journey into Kendal, so it wasn't a spoiler!
Would highly recommend staying here, I have passed the cottage details onto my friends who are hoping to visit the lakes later this year.
Ideal space for a short getaway in a beautiful setting. The Den had almost everything we needed for our stay and would definitely recommend staying here. Lovely touch of a welcome bottle of prosecco.
It was easy to book the accomodation online. Katie was easily contacted via email and helpful with any questions. On our arrival the place was clean and very well equipped. There was limited space to put own food as every cupboard was filled with kitchen essentials. Welcome gifts of flowers, prosecco and biscuits greeted us and a box of eggs from the farm were well received during our stay. The scenery from the lounge window is breath taking and lovely to see a variety of wildlife roaming freely........peacocks, chickens, rabbits. Katie is very friendly and very welcoming and would definitely return to this farm for a holiday in the future.
A very cosy cottage, evrything you need. We loved seeing the animals in a very healthy way! Chickens with their babys surrond you with their cosy sounds!
