About Jonathan Cromwell

I teach and coach football in McKinney ISD, my wife Sarah teaches in Garland ISD, and we have two awesome boys named Rocky and Rhett. Our lives are hectic and we enjoy every minute we get to make the 50 minute drive from our home in Collin County to our Lake Texoma Treehouse! Being at the cabin makes you feel like you are living in an amusement park where everybody knows who you are. You will see more golf carts then cars on our streets but don't worry there are usually only a few of those!

Jonathan Cromwell purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Jonathan Cromwell chose Pottsboro

We purchased this property for a couple of reasons: it is not in a subdivision which allows ultimate seclusion, it is the perfect size for our family right now and leaves room for growth, the opportunity to make many great memories is awesome, it is ONLY 50 minutes from our home in Collin County, the water is only 500 feet from the front door, and the Corp of Engineers property is about 15 feet from our driveway. Absolutely beautiful!

What makes this cabin unique

Water, wildlife, and wonder

Great spot and love of things to do.

  • 5 of 5

Nice spot with lots of things to do. Our first VRBO with our 2 year old and it was great. Walking distance to lake and easy enough access for the canoe. Canoe transport to the lake is difficult with one person let alone two. Could really use a catty or something to aid in transport to and from lake, however. My son and I were out in the lake for several hours fishing regardless.

Found 2 dollar coins which blew my kids mind and cleaned up the yard of tin cans! :)

Likely to come back for a longer stay in the future.

Amazing weekend again!! Perfect Family Oasis!

  • 5 of 5

Our experience was phenomenal again! Cabin was perfectly outfitted, best property out there for a family. We made some lasting memories with our kiddos out here again, from s'mores at the campfire, steaks on the grill, hiking and driving down the trails, and catching a lot of fish (if you go down the trails far enough there is a sweet sand bass honey hole ) This was our 3rd time staying with the Cromwell's and we will definitely be back again!!

Nice weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

Overall, this was an enjoyable spot to get away for the weekend from the Dallas area.

* Nice outdoor space with large campfire pit, grill, horseshoes, and more

* Feels like you are hundreds of miles from home in the middle of the woods

* Very nice sandy beach nearby that was great for swimming and kayaking

* Clean rooms

* Lots of useful kitchen appliances and tools

* Neighbors are a little close and loud at night. I stayed with young children, and they had a hard time sleeping with the noise.

* It was difficult to bring a kayak or canoe down to the lake shore (it's a 2 person+ job)

* No lake views but you can walk to views in 5 minutes

Perfect getaway !

  • 5 of 5

Great location. Best equipped with kitchen supplies , games, movies, Canoe and everything you needed for a fun time. So close to the beach which had shade, sand and a cove for safe swimming and canoeing. It had a big deck and a fire pit and grill. Really couldn't ask for a better place!

Fun weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

We booked this trip kind of last minute and we were delighted with the hidden gem we found with the Treehouse. The cabin was the perfect size for the 4 adults and 2 young kids. We took full advantage of all the toys for the kids, the grill, fire pit, and the canoe available. The walk to the swimmable beach was about 5-10 minutes so we took full advantage of this. Taking the canoe to the lake was more difficult given the poor condition of the trails due to recent rain.

We would definitely rebook this location in the future.
