About Brenda Connely
We are Ted and Brenda Connely. Brenda grew up in Forks. Ted is from Nebraska but has been here on the Olympic Peninsula since 1976. We were living in Port Angeles when we found our river place. A friend mentioned the property might be available. We bought it and spent every spare moment for the next four years fixing up the old house on the property. One day in March of 2004 Brenda came back to the cabin from work in Port Angeles carrying Sam the cat, who had been the only one occupying the house in Port Angeles most of the time. 'We live here now,' she announced, 'we're always here anyway.' She got no argument from Ted and so the house in Port Angeles was sold and we became full time residents at the cabin. Since the cabin had only one bedroom and no garage, we decided to take care of both problems at once and build a garage with an apartment above. The loft was our guest room until we decided to buy a larger home closer to Forks, still on the river but not as special. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell the Riverside place so we decided to share it with others by turning in into a vacation rental. It has been gratifying to see our guests love it too. So many have told us they don't want to leave at the end of their stay.

Why Brenda Connely chose Clallam County
Even though the property was all grown up with weeds and the house was very run down, we knew at first sight this was our place. The sparkling river running along the edge of the yard, the golden light coming through the trees, just the peaceful feel of the place. Many guests have used the word 'magical' to describe their feelings about the place.
What makes this Apartment unique
We originally bought this property for our own vacation home with no thought of its potential as a vacation rental property. But not only is it a beautiful, relaxing, welcoming spot to stay, it is very handily located within an hour's drive of nearly all the attractions of the northwest section of Olympic National Park. Many guest comment on what a great base camp it is for seeing the park. We have often heard how nice it is to come home to after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the deck, sit by the river, build a fire in the firepit, and sleep in the very comfortable beds.

Peaceful and lovely.
This area of the peninsula is just stunning. The cabin is well equipped and cozy. Love the river and the location is perfect for seeing all the hot spots. We really enjoyed the Olympic game park which is only an hour's drive towards Port Angeles. We will come back in the summer.
Had a great stay! Such a beautiful setting, right on the river! Wish we had more time to spend here. Everything was clean and homey. Perfect place to spend a night while exploring Olympic National Park! Look forward to staying here again some time! Brenda was very thoughtful and easy to work with- very accomodating!
Thank you very much for the great review Kathleen. Hope you can return again soon!
Cozy weekend getaway
The loft was the perfect place for two! The view was amazing and we loved looking at the river in the morning. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Thank you for the great review Jennie. I am glad you liked it. Hope you were able to get out and hike in spite of the deluge. It can really rain out here as you got to see first hand. We'd love to have you come back.
My husband and I decided to celebrate our first anniversary by taking a fishing trip in the Forks area. This charming studio was absolutely perfect for what we needed. Extremely clean and comfortable! The bed was just as comfy as our own. They even provided fresh coffee beans and a grinder for that perfect cup of joe. We’re already planning another trip out.
Thank you for the great review Kim. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. We'd love to have you come back again.
We knew from the moment we pulled up that we had picked the right spot. The river and surrounding area is just lovely. The upstairs unit is well appointed and very comfortable. The hosts have added many little touches that make the space practical and inviting. We can’t wait to stay here again!
Thank you for such a great review Jessica. We are happy you liked our loft and we'd love to have you come back.
Clean, orderly and everything you need!
We had a wonderful time during our stay at the loft. It had everything we need and more! It was super clean and orderly with everything in good condition. We had trouble connecting to wi-fi at first because the password in the instructions was not current, but we later saw the new password was posted on the modem. Thanks so much for making our stay so easy and carefree!
Thank you for the nice review Joanna. Sorry about the wi fi instructions. I need to figure out how to get in and change that on VRBO. Good reminder.
Glad you enjoyed yourself and hope you can come back again.
This property is a great base camp for exploring the north Peninsula area of Olympic National Park.
It is located just off Highway 101 ten miles southwest of Lake Crescent providing quick and easy access to Lake Crescent Lodge, Storm King Ranger Station, Marymere Falls, Eagle Peak Ranger Station and Sol Duc Falls with hiking trails continuing into the Olympics.
Heading east from the cabins, it's less than an hour's drive to the main Park visitor center in Port Angeles, Hurricane Ridge, and the ferry to Victoria, British Columbia.
West from the cabins 8 miles is the junction of Hwy 113 which will take you to the Lake Ozette Ranger Station and the loop trail to the ocean at Ozette, the Makah Museum and Cape Flattery on the Makah Reservation. Shi Shi Beach on the Makah reservation is one of the most beautiful and remote beaches on the west coast.
Continuing from the cabins on 101 past the 113 junction for 9 miles will take you to Highway 110, (La Push road) providing access to 1st beach at La Push, the trailheads for Beach 2 and 3 and Rialto Beach across the Quillayute River.
Just past the 110 junction you will enter the town of Forks which provides shopping, restaurants, and Twilight attractions. Continuing south from Forks for 12 miles will take you to the access road for Hoh Rain Forest visitor center with miles of hiking rails. Another 25 miles south on 101 you will find Kalaloch Lodge perched on the bluff above miles of beautiful sandy beaches. There are many access points to this stretch of beach.
Many guests have told us how nice it is to come back to our cabins after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the decks or soak in the hot tubs.
