We stayed at this property in Spello for two nights. There were certainly some highlights: the view from the house was stunning, and the fixed menu dinner offered on-site was a wonderful showcase of traditional Umbrian cuisine. The town of Spello itself is a gem—peaceful, picturesque, and full of charm. Every window and balcony in town had flowers. However, the access road to the property was a serious issue. It’s a narrow, one-lane dirt road over a mile long, flanked by tall grasses that obscure hazards like large boulders and deep ditches. Only a small European car can realistically make it through, and there’s no safe way to pass another vehicle. Every time we engaged on it during our stay we prayed that no other car was on it. And of course the inevitable happened: on our way out as we were departing on our last day we encountered an oncoming car driven by a local who refused to reverse. We were forced off the path and into a ditch, damaging our vehicle with chassis structural harm and subsequent flat tire which required towing. Because of the dangerous access and the severe consequences we experienced, I would not recommend this property, despite its otherwise lovely features.
