About Carol Heth

Pete & Carol have lived next door to the property 30+years. Carol grew up right up the road and the home they live in, next door to the cottage, was her Grandparents.

Carol Heth purchased this cottage in 1983

Why Carol Heth chose Columbia

With growing up and living in the area for so long we know how enjoyable it is to be here. We have a private property and enjoy living here.

What makes this cottage unique

The historic area around us has so much to see and enjoy. Whether you enjoy nature, hiking, kayaking, boating, shopping, farmer's markets, the Amish, or relaxing you will have the opportunity for it all. So close to the Susquehanna River to be able to use it or the hiking trails around it. If you want to travel to a big city, we are centrally located to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, or New York City. But, you will enjoy the city of Lancaster and Columbia for their arts and antiques.

Made us feel at home...

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time staying at Carol and Pete's hand-made cottage. Pete is a wonderful contractor and actually has three hand-made homes on his farm, each with their own theme! We stayed for our second wedding anniversary, and it was our 6th home away experience. They reinvented the words "home away" because it truly felt just that. Their attention to detail in interior designed by Carol and functionality, their attentiveness to ALL our concerns, and their thoughtfulness in our personalized welcome sign and home-made blueberry scones and farm fresh eggs! They welcomed our pups, Pillin and Bruce, too with their own dog bowls and doggie treats! Everything was so heartfelt we won't forget it - best home owners so far! We hope to come back and rent all three houses with our friends!! No wonder they do this for a living! Keep it up!

A hidden gem.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came to celebrate our 50 th birthdays. Probably one of the best getaways in a long time. Carol and Pete were so inviting and really down to earth. Really enjoyed getting to know them. Loved waking up to the cows grazing and the rooster doing his thing. Highly recommend and plan on coming back 😊?

Perfect Escape

  • 5 of 5

The highest compliment I could offer on this awesome cottage is to tell my friends, family, and coworkers about this new favorite place to escape. Since returning from a recent stay there, I can't stop recommending it! Each of the steller reviews and details included by previous guests is spot on. My husband and I have been blessed to travel all over the world and we both agree that our stay in this beautiful cottage on Pete and Carol's farm is definitely among are favorites. If you haven't visited Lancaster or the surrounding area, put it on your bucket list. Your stay here will only complement your visit. We're looking forward to returning soon!

Everything was perfect. The house was very quaint, clean and very well maintained. Pete and Carole were extremely warm and welcoming, they could not do enough for us and our dogs. We will definitely return.

What a lovely retreat! And the screen porch with swinging daybed is pure heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Carol and Pete are the best hosts we've ever met! And we can't say enough about this "home away from home" on their little farm nestled in the hills. You'll see donkeys, emus, chickens, and a daily morning cow parade. You're welcomed with farm fresh (amazing) eggs and fantastic home made scones. This cozy retreat has an amazing kitchen, and the upstairs bathroom is very spacious as well. Everything is designed with a wonderful touch. We recommend it without reservation!
