About Carol Heth
Pete & Carol have lived next door to the property 30+years. Carol grew up right up the road and the home they live in, next door to the cottage, was her Grandparents.
Carol Heth purchased this Cottage in 1983
Why Carol Heth chose Columbia
With growing up and living in the area for so long we know how enjoyable it is to be here. We have a private property and enjoy living here.
What makes this Cottage unique
The historic area around us has so much to see and enjoy. Whether you enjoy nature, hiking, kayaking, boating, shopping, farmer's markets, the Amish, or relaxing you will have the opportunity for it all. So close to the Susquehanna River to be able to use it or the hiking trails around it. If you want to travel to a big city, we are centrally located to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, or New York City. But, you will enjoy the city of Lancaster and Columbia for their arts and antiques.

Perfect, absolutely perfect
There is everything to like and nothing to dislike about this cottage and the other two.
We arrived to stay at Fairview after spending a few days in New York and Washington, having enjoyed the hustle, bustle of city life, arriving at the cottage was total tranquility and peace.
Pete and Carol welcomed us with delicious homemade scones, and a warm hello, told us that they were there to help in any way if we needed it. We agreed to meet up at sometime during our stay, I was on a promise of meeting Bella the “Frenchie” We were also greeted by the numerous animals, hens, roosters, donkeys, puss cats, emu’s and an array of wild birds, deer came along too in the evening. Opening the fridge to fresh laid eggs was fab.
There’s nothing that the cottage lacks, it’s tastefully decorated to a really high standard, with everything and more than you could wish for in facilities.
During our stay we met with Pete and Carol and enjoyed lovely food, quite a lot of liquid refreshment and the best of company.
We truly can’t recommend it enough to anyone thinking of staying there.
Thank you, Pete and Carol, we had a ball
Wonderful place to stay! Pete and Carol are the best. Hope to visit again one day.
Perfect city escape
What a lovely get away! Carol and Pete have thought of everything you can need and more for a relaxing country retreat! The house is beautifully designed and even has a screened in napping porch. The kitchen is so well appointed I actually enjoyed preparing dinners each night. We especially appreciated to be able to bring our dog along who enjoyed meeting the chickens and donkeys. Highly recommend!
Such a wonderful stay
My daughter and I made a last minute decision to book Carol and Pete’s property and we were so happy we did. By far, this has been one of the best trips we’ve taken. The home is amazing and feels like a home away from home the minute you walk into it. Carol and Pete are lovely and make you feel very welcome and comfortable on their property. So much that you instantly know you want to come back for a future stay. The donkeys, chickens, emus that you get as neighbors are adorable and the cows that come by in the mornings are just the icing on the cake of the special experience you get when you stay here. There’s also much to do around the area; we were able to visit Hershey World, the farmer’s market with amazing grocery options, see some of the Amish country and take a gorgeous drive thru the county looking for covered bridges. You’re also only a short drive away from a Giant grocery store, CVS, county wine store and a couple of restaurants. Overall, our stay was perfect and very relaxing. We couldn’t have asked for more. My daughter and I highly recommend booking your stay here, you won’t regret it!
Cozy, country comfort!
This was a repeat visit for us and just as enjoyable as the first time. From the tasty plate of homemade scones and fresh flowers awaiting us on our arrival to the friendly interactions with owners Pete and Carol Heth, we always feel welcome and comfortable. I take part in workshops at NAWCC clock school and the Heth’s cottage is a very convenient five-minute drive from the facility. I’m sure we’ll be back.
Made us feel at home...
We had the best time staying at Carol and Pete's hand-made cottage. Pete is a wonderful contractor and actually has three hand-made homes on his farm, each with their own theme! We stayed for our second wedding anniversary, and it was our 6th home away experience. They reinvented the words "home away" because it truly felt just that. Their attention to detail in interior designed by Carol and functionality, their attentiveness to ALL our concerns, and their thoughtfulness in our personalized welcome sign and home-made blueberry scones and farm fresh eggs! They welcomed our pups, Pillin and Bruce, too with their own dog bowls and doggie treats! Everything was so heartfelt we won't forget it - best home owners so far! We hope to come back and rent all three houses with our friends!! No wonder they do this for a living! Keep it up!
The cottage is located near the beautiful Susquehanna River. You may enjoy spending time on the river or hike a trail near it. If you enjoy shopping, the Amish, or just relaxing this will be a treat for you. Centrally located to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, or New York City for day trips if so desired.
