About Susan Hayes

Our family has grown up on the lake and many of us still live in the area year round.

Susan Hayes purchased this chateau / country house in 1975

Why Susan Hayes chose Prince Edward County

The house has been in our family for over 40 years and is a home away from home when not being rented. We have several family members that live on the lake who are always happy to answer questions or be of assistance.

Comfortable & serene cottage by the lake

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 found this cottage to be well-stocked, beautifully-situated, and spacious. We appreciated the gorgeous view of the lake from the back deck and dining room. The owners have taken care to provide anything you might need for a cottage getaway--from good-quality pots and pans to dry kindling and newspaper for a fire. With ample common space and large bedrooms, we never felt cramped. Plus, the cottage is spotless and organized. Thank you for the wonderful stay, Susan!

Quiet, Modern, and comfortable stay!

  • 5 of 5

- Great lakeside home on the water with all the amenities a group would need.

- The kitchen is well stocked and beautiful, the dining table is great for meals and board games, and the bedrooms are comfortable and spotless.

- From canoeing, to paddleboating, to sun-bathing on the dock, to using the firepit - our group used it all, and loved it.

- Location wise, it was also quite easy to get to the wineries if that's your thing!

- We'll definitely be back. Thanks to the hosts for making us feel welcome, the special touch when we arrived made our time there extra special.

The perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

The pictures will not do justice!! The view is just breath taking!!! The cottage is beautifully decorated, spacious, cozy and modern. It is equipped with everything you can imagine; from kids toys, to water activities, to all the cooking and baking ware for the executive chefs. Susan was amazing and was very accommodating. We will definitely come back. Thanks for the perfect family get away Susan!

Perfect lakeside retreat for family celebration!

  • 5 of 5

This spotless home is larger and even lovelier than the photos capture. Had a wonderful time celebrating an 80th birthday with mom and her "kids". Scrabble tournament, paddle boat and canoe rides, gourmet kitchen to prepare great meals and views to savour from every spot on this private, pretty property. Tuned in 70s music on satellite and just kicked back. Everyone commented on quality and comfort of their beds. Loved the river rock floor and rainfall showerhead. Owners super to deal with - even had birthday banner in place, local wine and card for the birthday girl. Heartily recommend.

Wonderful County Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We just got home from spending a most enjoyable week at the cabin in Ameliasburg. For me, this was both re-living great memories of being at this property when my parents lived there and making new memories this week with friends that have never been to “The County”.

The transformation of the cottage to a very well appointed country retreat has been phenomenal. It is just beautiful! They have thought of everything you could want or need for a wonderful vacation. There is nothing like sitting on the deck overlooking Roblin Lake sipping wine and listening to the birds chirping - so peaceful.

It was a busy week. We did wine touring/tasting; took a trip to the Sandbanks Provincial Park (too chilly that day for a true “day” at the beach); had lunch at Lake of the Mountain at an old inn; shopped and had ice cream at Slickers in Bloomfield, ate fresh curd at Maple Dale Cheese Factory and picked up cheese to take home to Alberta – yum! There are so many great places to eat in the area, it was hard to choose where to go for lunch most days.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a true County experience, and I look forward to a return visit next year.

Lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed this cottage with six girlfriends for a ladies' getaway. Very well equipped and furnished, very clean. The only comment I would have is in terms of location; not too many places to walk to directly from the cottage without walking on a highway. Other than that everything was great.
