Quiet and peaceful rustic cottage in a beautiful setting with private pool
Spent a lovely week in this peaceful period cottage. Very quiet setting with far reaching private views across a lovely forested valley and many hills with the impressive mount Canigou range in the distance.
The pool is completely private and not overlooked, but with unparalleled views across the valley and the mountains. The pool is large, clean and well maintained, with plenty of space around to lounge in sun or shade. Owners had pool noodles and other fun toys to use in the pool.
The cottage itself is very spacious, clean and tidy. Looks recently modernized, but has been tastefully renovated to keep period features and rustic charm. All rooms are a good size, with all facilities in the large kitchen. Patio doors lead out onto a private patio overlooking the pool and valley. There are 3 large terraces to explore and local walks amongst the woods, washing machine is in the basement in a wash room with plenty of hanging space to dry clothes.
Owners are very nice and helpful, live in the house next door, but the cottage is very private and not really overlooked. The owners are discrete and available if needed for advice on the local area or facilities.
The area offers lots to see and do, but a car hire is a must. Roads seem narrow at first, but plenty of passing areas, and very little traffic. Routes are all picturesque, and more to stop and see than you can fit in a week!
Took a day trip to Mount Carlit, road trip was fantastic and walk up the mountain amazing. Lots of gorgeous French towns and villages with historic buildings to explore and high Abbeys and Castles galore within a reasonable drive.
Highly recommended for someone looking for peaceful tranquility in lovely countryside within reach of modern facilities and shopping.
Bien cordialement, Susie & Paul
