About Ron

Working to balance a busy life in the city, with a desire for peace and relaxation in nature, we found Cedar Creek Lake to be a near perfect solution for us. We bought our first lake home in 2001 and soon considered it "paradise found". Now with a total of 5 homes all adjacent to each other around our own private cove, we are thrilled to share this paradise with friends, family and our growing list of repeat guests and their referrals.

Ron purchased this farmhouse in 2005

Why Ron chose Mabank

Each of our homes offer their own unique charm. We're often asked, "Which do you like best?".....and we find that like choosing a favorite flavor of ice cream on a hot summer day,. They are ALL delicious!. The Farmhouse is a favorite for comfort and relaxation.

What makes this farmhouse unique

With it's open and spacious floorplan it's the perfect spot to gather larger groups for meals or movie night. The views of the lawn and animals in the barnyard are spectacular and always entertaining. We can sit for hours watching the antics of the chickens, ducks, goats and llamas, and campfires under the stars are the BEST. With views of the mature trees and wooded areas from every window, The Farmhouse feels completely secluded and nestled in the woods. We love the "country" kitchen and the oversize farmhouse table which seats up to 12 reminds us of a visit to grandparents and family gatherings. It's a "feel good" home.....come see for yourself!

Always Perfect

  • 5 of 5

My group of friends and I have rented these houses for mother/daughter weekends for years. We keep coming back because the houses are wonderful, the beds are comfortable, and the products and extras in the houses are high end. The amenities are also perfect. We have used the grills, made fires in the fire pit for s'mores, eaten eggs and veggies from the garden or just sat outside and stared at the view. Whatever your plans are, these houses just make them better!

It's simply the best! We've stayed twice and although other properties there are on the lake, we love the farmhouse. The setting is beautiful, the hosts are gracious, and so accommodating. Everything you could want in the way of a restful get-a-way. Fully stocked kitchen, farm fresh eggs, and always a surprise! Comfortable beds, luxjourius bath products.. The proximity to the lake is great, just a few steps away and provides beautiful views and fun in the water. We would come every month if possible! So far we have been in the summer and in March. Can't wait to experience THe Farmhouse in the fall.

Memorial Day Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying at the Farmhouse at least once a year for several years now. Ron and Michael are great hosts who always make us feel at home. Always making sure you are having a good time and looking for ways to improve it, while being very respectful of our privacy. There's always treats like fresh eggs, fresh berries, home made yogurt, etc. They are constantly updating property, with new furniture, piano, fire pit, kitchen appliances, etc. I highly recommend it for families, couples, corporate retreats, etc.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion over Christmas and rented 3 different houses between us. Each was unique & lovely, all with very comfortable beds, nice linens, nicely equipped kitchens complete with farm fresh eggs and everything we needed to start off our vacation! Our house had lots of room inside and out and even a piano. Lucky for us we had a pianist with us and we enjoyed singing along. Each house had a fire pit loaded with wood, surrounded by plenty of adirondack chairs. This was our second stay and we will be back. Each house has been everything we expected and more. Merci beaucoup, Ron & Michael. You are gracious hosts

Gorgeous house, comfortable, unique location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently attended a wedding on Cedar Creek Lake, and we rented the Farmhouse for our family (the two of us, plus three adult family members). We weren't quite sure what to expect, but the house turned out to be a phenomenal experience. It's a 90 minute drive from Dallas. The house is located just off a gravel road, along with a number of other rentals also owned by Ron and Michael -- most of them were occupied by wedding guests during our visit, so it was very easy for all of us to explore the properties, attend the wedding, and celebrate afterwards. It's an easy 5-minute walk to the lake.

The Farmhouse is actually much nicer than I expected it to be. The two large bedrooms have comfortable beds (although the King in the master bedroom is high enough off the ground to require step-stools to climb up and down!). There is a lovely large bath attached to the master, with a huge shower and double sinks. The other bathroom has a large tub with shower -- both bathrooms are new and very clean. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need, even if you want to do some major cooking during your stay. The fridge is equipped with an icemaker and there's a full-size washer and dryer. The living room and master bedroom have flat-screen tvs, and there are queen-sized futons in the living room and sun room. Ron and Michael provided us with fresh eggs (from their organic farm), along with waffle mix, pure maple syrup, and all the fixings for s'mores (graham crackers, marshmallows, and Hershey bars). They also provide fresh coffee beans which you can grind each morning for fabulous coffee. And on our first morning in the house, Ron stopped by with fresh baked bread from a local bakery, along with some delicious sun-dried tomato spread -- it was really a delightful surprise!

Be advised that the organic farm is on the Farmhouse property. It's fenced, but the animals do make noise (one of our adult sons had a little trouble sleeping past 7:00 AM, since the roosters definitely do their thing at sunrise!). My husband and I are both early risers, so it was no problem for us -- in face, we really enjoyed sipping our fresh coffee out on the patio watching the goats and chickens being fed. If you have young kids, they will definitely be entertained. I've never seen goats as friendly as these -- they really want to be petted!

Overall, this is a great house, and we had a great weekend. Highly recommended!

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to the Farmhouse for years, and we absolutely love it. It's only an hour and a half away from Dallas and makes for an easy get-away. We have been at all times of year and I can verify it is beautiful year round. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we need, and the rooms are inviting and comfortable. We love the proximity to where the animals are kept - they keep my 2 year old and 5 year old entertained the whole stay. We love to feed the goats and watch the llamas. On our last visit my daughter got to milk a goat! And the fresh eggs are the best! The lake is within walking distance and the water is always nice. The farmhouse is one of our favorite vacation spots!
