Family Vacation

We stayed in the 3 bedroom Stable 1 which was perfect for my family. Everything we needed to enjoy our stay was provided. Plenty of room for the 6 of us. Grandkids had a blast on the trampoline and the grounds to run around in and we enjoyed a cocktail on the back porch. Beautiful property.

These cottages are clean, very comfortable, and well supplied. A perfect place for families!

We felt right at home in our cottage. What a wonderful way to experience the Irish countryside, with sheep, chickens, geese, and friendly cats and dogs to visit, a lovely community den with a pool table and more, even a treehouse and extended kids' play area. Paula was so helpful, whether we wanted sightseeing advice, more turf for the fire or more fresh eggs from the chickens. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen had all we needed to cook meals, and there's even a DVD library for movie time. Just a very short drive to the amazing historic sites of Newgrange and the Hill of Tara, and about 45 minutes to Dublin. It was almost TOO nice here...we had to drag our kids away on adventures, they just kept calling the cottage "home". My mother-in-law walks with a cane and was so grateful for ground floor entry and one flight of stairs to bedrooms. This would be an ideal spot for family reunions or multiple-family holidays. We hope to return someday.

Amazing!

Our experience was wonderful! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Paula who had our prearranged and prepaid delicious dinners and desserts ready for us. Also, we were provided with a free welcome basket stocked with fresh eggs, bread, butter, chips, hot cocoa, and other treats. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee, tea, sugar, milk, pots and pans and whatever else we needed. The entire apartment was very clean and very comfortable. I would happily stay there again!

Long-awaited Family Vacation

The Stables at Country Decoy Cottages was a delightful place for my parents, sister & bil, and me to spend a week. Paula was great & saw that our needs were sufficiently met (including getting allergy-free linens). We loved seeing the llamas & Scoot, the cat. We only wish we had more time!

Great place to stay!

Great place to stay! Amazing views and not far from all of the northern attractions. Ancient ruins and beautiful castles. The accommodations were very clean and have everything you need.

Unique Country Location with all of the amentities for a comfortable stay

This is a unique location that was renovated from a former horse stable. It is a Top Shelf quality renovation with quality throughout and spacious comfortable living quarters. The property is secured by a gated entry and is beautifully landscaped. All the amenities of comfortable living are here. It is close to many historical sites including castles and ancient cultural locations. We enjoyed the welcome basket that included local milk, eggs, bread and condiments. Owner Paula and her property manager Georgina tended to all of our needs while we were there. It is a place that will create a lasting memory.

Spacious accommodations in a great locale

Our family of 5 was very comfortable in the 3 bedroom 'Stables' at Decoy Cottages. There was plenty of space and everything was well cared for and equipped. We also really appreciated the on premise farm fresh eggs, milk, butter and cheese provided in the fridge for us. What a treat! The grounds were so pleasant, quiet and secure. Our children thoroughly enjoyed playing on the playground and especially playing with 'Milo' the dog who made appearances from time to time. You can't beat the location when going to see all of the things that the Boyne Valley has to offer. We only had two nights at Decoy Cottages, but we saw a lot and plan on returning someday to see more. The closeness of Decoy Cottages to Dublin and its airport cannot be overstated either. We had a wonderful, albeit short, stay at Decoy Cottages.

When Conor and Paula went on a holiday to Devon in the UK in 1998, they stayed in a converted farm yard and enjoyed the experience so much that when they purchased their home in Ireland in 1999 they immediately saw the potential in the farm yard attached to their house. It wasn't until their 3 children had all started school and Paula had a bit more time on her hands that they decided to convert the courtyard in to the beautiful development of 8 cottages that it is today.

This has been a labour of love and every detail has been carefully thought out by Conor and Paula so that now these cottages have become a haven of peace and tranquility away from the stresses of today's hectic lifestyle.

They also are a fantastic base for exploring all that Ireland's Ancient East has to offer as they are so close to the many tourist sites in the region and Dublin airport is only 30 minutes away.

Conor and Paula fell in love with this property when they moved back form the UK with their 3 small children in 1998. They spent a year restoring their own house and then in 2006 they spent 18 months renovating the courtyard to fulfil their dream or running this business from home.
