About Paula Irwin
When Conor and Paula went on a holiday to Devon in the UK in 1998, they stayed in a converted farm yard and enjoyed the experience so much that when they purchased their home in Ireland in 1999 they immediately saw the potential in the farm yard attached to their house. It wasn't until their 3 children had all started school and Paula had a bit more time on her hands theta they decided to convert the courtyard in to the beautiful development of 8 cottages that it is today. This has been a labour of love and every detail has been carefully thought out by Conor and Paula so that now these cottages have become a haven of peace and tranquility away from the stresses of today's hectic lifestyle. They also are a fantastic base for exploring all that Ireland's Ancient East has to offer as they are so close to the many tourist sites in the region and Dublin airport is only 30 minutes away.

Why Paula Irwin chose Lismullin
Conor and Paula fell in love with this property when they moved back form the UK with their 3 small children in 1998. They spent a year restoring their own house and then in 2006 they spent 18 months renovating the courtyard to fulfil their dream or running this business from home.

Great place to stay!
Great place to stay! Amazing views and not far from all of the northern attractions. Ancient ruins and beautiful castles. The accommodations were very clean and have everything you need.
These cottages are clean, very comfortable, and well supplied. A perfect place for families!
We felt right at home in our cottage. What a wonderful way to experience the Irish countryside, with sheep, chickens, geese, and friendly cats and dogs to visit, a lovely community den with a pool table and more, even a treehouse and extended kids' play area. Paula was so helpful, whether we wanted sightseeing advice, more turf for the fire or more fresh eggs from the chickens. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen had all we needed to cook meals, and there's even a DVD library for movie time. Just a very short drive to the amazing historic sites of Newgrange and the Hill of Tara, and about 45 minutes to Dublin. It was almost TOO nice here...we had to drag our kids away on adventures, they just kept calling the cottage "home". My mother-in-law walks with a cane and was so grateful for ground floor entry and one flight of stairs to bedrooms. This would be an ideal spot for family reunions or multiple-family holidays. We hope to return someday.
Brilliant cottage to suit 6 people
I would recommend this place for any group parties or just a quiet break.
Thanks for your lovely review and hope you had a brilliant birthday party. Hope hurricane Ophelia did nit disrupt your journey home. Hope to see you again in the future
Best wishes - Paula
Unique Country Location with all of the amentities for a comfortable stay
This is a unique location that was renovated from a former horse stable. It is a Top Shelf quality renovation with quality throughout and spacious comfortable living quarters. The property is secured by a gated entry and is beautifully landscaped. All the amenities of comfortable living are here. It is close to many historical sites including castles and ancient cultural locations. We enjoyed the welcome basket that included local milk, eggs, bread and condiments. Owner Paula and her property manager Georgina tended to all of our needs while we were there. It is a place that will create a lasting memory.
Hi Phillip - thank you for your very kind words and feedback. It always helps to get the guests perspective on things. Georgina and I were delighted to look after you and are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Hope to see you again in the future
Best wishes - Paula
This was a fabulous place to stay! Very nicely decorated, lots of amenities, very clean. We were warmly greeted and incidentals explained to us. This was my first experience with VRBO and I am very pleased and satisfied.
Very comfortable and quiet. Had a nice chat with the chickens.
Decoy Cottages have a best of both world's location, just 30 minutes from Ireland's famously hip and happening capital city of Dublin yet in the countryside of the Meath Boyne Valley which is steeped in the country's enthralling history and heritage. The nearest shop is 3 miles from Decoy Cottages and all the amenities families need are in the town of Navan, 5 miles away. There are parks and an indoor play centre in Navan, as well as a swimming pool and a cinema.
Hundreds of years ago the Hill of Tara (5 minutes) was the seat of the ancient Kings of Ireland and the whole countryside is strewn with castles, monuments and mystical sites. The world heritage site of Newgrange (15 minutes) has spectacular megalithic tombs that are 500 years older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids, whilst Trim Castle (20 minutes) featured in the filming of Braveheart.
The historical stuff is all very well but children will possibly be more excited by Tayto Park (10 minutes), which is a theme park based around Ireland's Tayto crisps! Besides the loveable Mr Tayto Character, attractions include the Pow Wow adventure playground and Spudhara play area for under 5's; wild animals and a petting corner; plus a steam train, roller coaster and a 5D cinema among new highlights for 2015. There's also a funky tour of the crisp factory which has a psychedelic vortex tunnel!
Rathbeggan Lakes (5 miles) makes another great day out for families, with bouncy castles, mini Land Rovers, playground, art barn, fairy garden, swan boats, water zorbing and more plus stocked fishing lakes for fly fishermen. Miles of sandy beaches are half and hour away at Laytown and Bettystown, and golfers have championship courses galore within easy reach including the Royal Tara.
Ireland is world famous for the craic of its lively pubs as well as creamy pints of the "black stuff" and families staying at Decoy are spoilt for choice for great pub food too. The nearest, with good carvery lunches, is the Tara Na Ri at Garlow Cross (1.5 miles) and O'Briens at Johnstown (3 miles) prides itself on its award-winning food, with fish as a speciality. Mrs O's Pub has a big reputation and featured in a Guinness Christmas advert and Eden 2 at the Bellinter House Hotel is sister to the fun and quirky original Eden in Dublin's Temple Bar.
Nearest medical services: Navan, 5 miles.
Getting there: Dublin airport is 30 minutes from Decoy Cottages and the ferry port in Dublin is 50 minutes.
