Suck on mangos you gather on your evening stroll in the summer. Watch the sunset from your own nearly private beach. Walk to tacos and margaritas (Dec-July). Enjoy your big balcony with a coffee in the cool mornings while birds sing. Hear the waves crashing at night!
Relax in our airy, natural-light-filled, 1 bedroom apartment. Use the full-kitchen to make awesome Mexican meals. There's a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables and local fish! In the evening, take a 15 minute stroll to the beach to watch sunsets, whales, and even turtle hatchling releases almost daily all winter. (No swimming or surfing at this beach).
Your apartment has a huge outdoor balcony with a small ocean view, a generous living space, a separate bedroom, and a spacious bathroom.
The kitchen/living room has a picture window looking out into the branches of our Caoba tree. The bedroom has two bedside dressers and a clothes rack to hang your clothes. There are lots of windows throughout the apartment for fresh breezes and natural light. Queen bed and extra cot provided upon request. Regular sofa also available for sleeping, and we can provide a Pack and Play if requested ahead of time.
The apartment has its own street-level entrance and off-street parking. It also has its own fenced-off yard on the ground floor.
Pots, pans, dishes, silverware, a fridge, a stove, a blender, and a coffee machine are all yours. We supply paper towels, 4 dishtowels, and 2 dishcloths. In the bathroom we provide: 2 bath towels, two hand towels, and two washcloths. Sheets are included as well. Free wifi.
My sister-in-law's Mexican restaurant is just around the corner. Fish tacos, margaritas, mexican food and breakfast!
Town is just a 10 minute bicycle ride South (bike included), La Esquina Cafe and Cuatro Vientos yoga studio is just three minutes, and the grocery store with all the essentials is just a block away.
To the North (10 minutes drive), check out La Pastora beach where all the best surfers congregate.
We live on site, so if you need assistance we are always in and out. Carlos was born here and I've been here 8 years. We'd love to use our local knowledge to help you make the most of your time here.
Our three preschoolers and one toddler are often home when they're not at school. Please keep that in mind--they are not always quiet, but they are always adorable! :)
My husband and I have four sweet little boys and run a small organic farm downtown called Rancho Buen Dia. I came to Todos Santos 8 years ago from Illinois, and my husband grew up on a ranch about 30 minutes south of Todos Santos! Let me know if you want to volunteer at the farm during your stay!
Caroline Benzel purchased this apartment in 2012
We love our giant Caoba tree that shades half of our property. It's great to go out and get a suntan, and its also nice to relax in the cool shade at home. We're so proud of our house because my husband built it himself and we designed it together.
A great place to stay, walking distance to town, we had the privacy we needed, Caroline was always very attentive, always making sure she kept us aware of things by texting us, the WiFi signal was great. Thank you Caroline.
We spent 2 months (late September to Thanksgiving) at Casa Caoba. No matter how hot it got outside, the apartment stayed cool (good fans, thick walls). The kitchen was well supplied for a vacation place. The bathroom was roomy and clean. Plenty of space on the second story porch. There were no security problems at all.
It is a 12 minute walk to the beach and between 5 and 10 minutes to the well-stocked Super Mercado. La Esquina and Tacos El Marlin are a 15 minute walk away if you want great places to eat. There is a laundry just around the corner. Bahia Restaurant, in town, sells fish fillets, ceviche and serves a great taco. The pastor vendor on the street by the park on Militario has the best tortas. Having a car would make it easier to explore the surf beaches and Los Cabos.
It was fun for us old guys to be around such a vibrant family. These folks are always busy. Caroline and Carlos were helpful when we needed it. We consider Casa Caoba a great value and a great find. Casa Caoba is simple, clean, roomy, handy. It is a great place for those who like “early to rise and early to bed.”
My husband and I spent a month renting from Caroline and her family, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. Let's break it down:
Apartment- So beautiful. Caroline's husband, Carlos, built it himself. We loved the open floor plan- everything was cool and breezy with the windows open. We cooked a lot while there and found the kitchen to have everything we needed. The bathroom was also incredibly well designed. In past apartments we've rented in Baja, bathrooms were tightly enclosed spaces, so they were quick to become muggy and smelly. Not Caroline's. Great ventilation and gorgeous walk-in shower. Lots of sink counter space as well. As for the bedroom, we couldn't have been more comfortable. Great queen bed and a very well positioned fan overhead. We slept very well there.
Location- Such a great spot! Most mornings my husband and I began with a quick run to the beach. Del Mango is a direct dirt road that will take you there, winding its way through beautiful properties and producing mango trees. Keep in mind that this is not a cabanas-on-the-beach kind of place. If that's what you're going for, Cabo is a better bet. But if you get excited about long stretches of beach with no crowds and a rugged surf break, you'll be impressed. As for amenities, Caroline's is within walking distance to a grocery store (though there are hills, so driving is more comfortable), a laundromat, and some solid food options. And my husband loved using the family's bikes!
Living With The Family- The apartment was beautiful, the location was convenient, but most of all we felt really lucky to stay with Caroline's family. When deciding where to rent, we were debating between an entire home we'd have to ourselves, or Caroline's place. Staying with a family had so many perks- Caroline helped us get some traction in the community. She was there to answer any and all questions, and helped us navigate tricky situations. When Hurricane Newton was headed towards Baja Sur, it was Caroline who sent us the text message letting us know it was coming. (We were exploring Cabo at the time, but quickly headed back to TS.) She and Carlos helped us ride out the storm (which in the end, didn't cause any significant damage.) I couldn't imagine having felt so safe and cared for had we been renting out our own house.
Long story short- great people, great apartment, great location, great deal. Whether you stay for a weekend or a month, we bet you'll be very happy here.
We had our own bit of paradise for a week. We came down for a wedding and family fun. This apartment was perfect for us. A lovely home away from home. Caroline and Carlos are the perfect hosts. We had everything we needed. We liked having a kitchen to do some cooking. Carlos brother runs a fishing boat which the guys had great fun on. There were beaches, hikes, beautiful sunsets. Watching Caroline and Carlos' four boys play was a delight. What ever you need they will help you with. Caroline even helped us find some of our family when we arrived. We slept great. We loved this place. We liked being in a neighborhood rather than a resort. Do yourself a favor and stay here, you won't be sorry.
If you want a simple, calm, non-hectic, vacation, this is a great place to stay. Casa Caoba was perfect for what we were looking for. There's a small grocery store nearby and we enjoyed cooking with local meat and fresh vegetables from Rancho Buen Dia. Also, the owners very quickly took care of anything we needed. Todos Santos was a little more touristy than we expected, but we found it much more relaxing than Cabo San Lucas and the food and souvenirs were much cheaper. The beach was beautiful but not swimmable so if you're looking to swim, this may not be the right spot for you. If you just love the smell and sound and picturesque view as you walk, it's perfect. As for the comments about the noisy kids in other reviews... The listing says very clearly that there are kids around and kids play and laugh and yell (as they should!). The quiet times noted when kids are off to school and in bed are pretty accurate. I'm glad we stayed at Casa Caoba :)
Just to give you a bit of history, my husband and I have been in Baja since Jan 6. We drove all around the whole peninsula and stayed at different places along the way some more expensive and some a little less. We stayed 2 nights here and this was by far the nicest and coziest!
I know Christine has taken into consideration other peoples comments and made some changes but seriously most of the places we’ve been too, didn’t have food containers, scissors, face clothes, body wash etc. It was very considerate of the owners to get all that extra stuff!
Yep, the family has kids, imagine that!!! It was no surprise; it is well stated in the description and it’s true they are adorable! When they weren’t in bed or in school they were up and about but we didn’t mind them at all. They acted like children their age are supposed to act, kids are kids! In my opinion, if you expect the children to make no sound at all, perhaps the problem isn’t the children… I must say we didn’t even hear them on our second night and hardly heard them before school, so it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be.
Aside from being considerate, Christine was very friendly and welcoming as well as informative about the surroundings. The apartment was very comfortable, fresh and clean, nice and cozy, spacious and airy with lots of natural light and it’s simply and tastefully decorated. There was plenty of hot water as well as bottled water. We had everything we needed and wanted. If we ever return to Todos Santos, we will go back, that is, if it’s not booked!
We took advantage of the balcony both mornings and evenings , it was nice and relaxing, we slept really well, we walked to the beach, walked our dog off leash, saw other friendly dogs walking around freely, saw some on leash who seemed aggressive and maybe even scary but when approached were friendly. It’s a quiet, clean and safe area!
There is a little cozy restaurant just around the corner from the apartment, 2 minute walk if that; the food is delicious and of good quality, the owners very friendly!
Thank you Christine for making our stay in the lovely town of Todos Santos a pleasant one!
