5 bedroom, 6 bath arts and crafts home in the heart of Madison
Stunning historic arts and crafts home near downtown Madison and right on the shore of Madison's largest lake, Lake Mendota. This is a big house at over 5000 sq. feet of living space. There are 5 bedrooms each with private bath. We are located in James Madison Park where you will find a beach, volleyball, children's play structure and basketball courts. We have a 6 stall parking lot behind our house at your disposal. There are 3 bedrooms on the second floor, and 2 on the third. There is 2400 sq. feet of first floor living space. The sunset views from the home are breathtaking. Because our home is also run as the Mendota Lake House B&B, our calendar on this site is not updated as often as we would like. The owners have a private apartment in the walk out basement portion of the house.

About David Waugh
In late 2012, my husband, Bob Klebba, and I purchased the historic Collins House and have opened her as a B&B. I love architecture and I am both thrilled and humbled to own this stunning home. The house was built in the prairie school style by local architects Louis W. Claude and Edward F. Starck. I feel strongly that this house should be a place for everyone to enjoy. Whether it be guests at the Inn, or guests at a private function, or neighbors walking by, we are happy to invite the public into our home. And, I think it is important to offer a range of price options. When I travel, I look for unique places, well situated and clean. And that's what we have here. The location is incredible. We have a vibrant, busy neighborhood out front, and out back we have the stunningly beautiful and tranquil lake Mendota. Bob and I have lived in Madison for 30 years and love sharing our knowledge of this beautiful area. In addition to innkeeping, we own a plant nursery 10 miles west of town, Morningwood Farm Nursery and Greenhouses. We share our private living quarters with 2 labradors -- Coco and Arnie.

What makes this House unique
We are one mile from the UW campus, and only a 15 minute walk to the Capitol square. Some of the best restaurants and cafes in Madison are in our neighborhood.

great stay at the mendota lake house, David was a perfect host!
Loved the home, the view, worked perfectly for our family (4 night stay) RECOMMEND!!
We can't thank the owners enough for allowing our family to share this space. The yard of flowers was spectacular! The rooms were huge, beds comfortable - we loved the front sun room to hang out & view the lake. Amazing job with renovations - we felt at home and happy! Highly recommend this home for "close to the action" place to stay in Madison!
Thanks for staying with us and so glad you enjoyed your stay! And thanks for writing this lovely review!

So many to places walk to from here and the owners were so gracious and wonderful making sure that we had everything we needed. 5 bedrooms......all cozy with their own sitting areas and bathrooms.
