Unit needs attention- your expectations should be low

  • 1 of 5

This unit was extremely poorly lit. There was a stain on the master comforter when we arrived. The unit was lacking basics like hand soap in the kitchen, even a spare packet of laundry detergent, and a hair dryer among other items. Ryson Rental company had said there would be one of everything. You basically need to spend about $100 extra stocking up on extras like toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, olive oil, soap, etc. So plan on that.

Now to safety issues. The dryer wasn't connected to the vent and the exhaust was blowing directly into the room which is a huge safety hazard. Additionally, the balcony wouldn't lock and I have two small kids under three. When maintenance finally came to fix the safety issues, they said that they had been trying to get the owners to fix the lighting problems for months (the unit is dark and depressing at night with blue LED overhead lights, and the light in the master didn't even work so we had no lighting in there because we had to use the lamps in the master to provide light in the living room. I contacted Ryson the rental company and asked for a manager, and no one has contacted me yet. They did come fix the two safety issues probably for legal reasons.

There were stains all over the carpet and the unit needs some serious attention. If this is the fault of the owner, I hope he reads this. But I personally fault Ryson for renting it out when there are known issues in the place around the lighting and if the owner hasn't responded to them; then it is the rental's company duty to take the market off the rental market and not charge people the high dollar they are charging to stay.

Nice property

  • 4 of 5

We loved the property, the pool, and the unit. I would have given a rating of five except for a couple of issues we ran into, though. When we arrived, there was no record of our reservation. The front desk called the management company and eventually got it figured out, but it was stressful and worrisome that Ryson never let the front desk at Palisade Palms know it was booked. What if it had been double-booked? If we had arrived after Ryson closed, what would have happened? Also, our balcony door was almost impossible to open more than about two inches. It felt like it would break if you forced it. We discovered this the night we checked in, and called the next day about it. It took three days and five total phone calls to get someone to finally come fix it. That was unacceptable based on the amount we paid for the rental. And there was a large roach in the kitchen one day, yuck! (We let the front desk and the mgmt. company know so they could spray, but not sure if they did.) Also, there were no switches for the ventilation fans in either bathroom, and they didn't come on automatically. So it was absolutely sweltering in the bathrooms after showering.

Overall, we had a wonderful time though and was impressed with how nice the location, pools, and unit were. The beach was very private, and the pool was rarely crowded. It was much nicer than the crowded Seawall area/beach. We would definitely return.
