About the property

Best value 3b / 3.5bt beachfront house in Guacalito resort w/ private pool

****HUGE DISCOUNTS IN MAY AND OCTOBER!!****

Casa Guacalito is a secluded villa located on a prize piece of real estate fronting the the soft white sands of Playa Guacalito. Playa Guacalito has calm, clear water and is an excellent spot for snorkeling, swimming and is a fun & safe beach for children. The villa affords wonderful views of the ‘La Anciana’ island and pacific ocean beyond. Soft grass lawns roll gently down from the swimming pool to the beach. Where the grass meets the sand there's a turtle hatchery and a beach palapa one side and a tamarindo tree the other. The tamarindo tree bears delicious fruit during the dry winter months December through February. At low tide there are many rock pools and a dizzying variety of marine life.

***Casa Guacalito, the accommodation***

South facing Casa Guacalito is distributed over two floors. The centrally air conditioned heart of the home is downstairs comprising an atrium style hallway that accesses the kitchen, living/ dining area. The open plan living/ dining area has large sliding doors looking out on ocean views and opening up to the pool terrace. The pool terrace is comfortably furnished giving plenty of places to lounge while enjoying glistening ocean views. The orientation of the villa allows for the prevailing winds to flow through this area, keeping you cool in spite of the hot Nicaraguan sun. Sleeping accommodation consists of three air-conditioned, en-suite bedrooms. The upstairs master suite has direct access to the balcony which runs the width of the house. Downstairs there are two further bedrooms including a junior suite with queen size bed and kids room with four bunk beds.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We have rented this house several times over the last few years and I hesitate to review it for purely selfish reasons! It is our little private piece of paradise and has become a huge part of my children's lives - it is home away from home in the most private, exclusive setting in Nicaragua. We are huge nature lovers and this property is as unspoiled as it gets - parrots and monkeys in the trees and a beach alive with activity. Every time we've been here there have been turtles nesting on the beach, eggs hatching ... my kids have shepherded many babies safely to sea and even (alongside my husband) helped rescue a huge female turtle caught in a tide pool which was no easy feat and one of their most significant childhood memories. The first thing they do every morning is rush down and check the nests. The beach is private and the swimming is safe as the island offshore tames the wild Pacific waves - and the fishing is amazing. We catch our own dinner (including Snappers and "Viejas" ... not sure what that is in English) much of the time. Delicious. For us it is the privacy that we love the most - the quiet, the exclusivity and the complete get-away-from-it-all feel and yet in a stunningly comfortable home. However there are resorts down the road with a golf course and a really cool beach town nearby called Playa Gigante with cafes, surfing lessons and quite the evening ambiance. Although you could probably have someone pick you up in Managua, it is a good idea to have your car - there's lots to explore. I suggest stopping in one of the big grocery stores in Managua, stocking up for the week as the nearest town, Tola, has limited options. Only back a week and we are already staring at calendars and wondering when we can return! Fabulous place, really.

Peaceful Privacy

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful serene location, perfect for unwinding at the start of a trip, the private beach is sheltered so much calmer for swimming and snorkelling. Great for families or a group of friends. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent location with great scenery.

A beach you should see

  • 5 of 5

My wife, three young children and I stayed eight nights at this location. The beach is the most beautiful I have ever visited. The house was very comfortable. David and Iain were always available to assist. Adolfo and Maria were very helpful while being respectful of our privacy. We will visit again.

10/10

  • 5 of 5

“This is quite possibly the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. The beach is pretty much private. The views exceptional. Because of the big island in front of the bay the waves are not very intimidating so it's great for swimming and snorkelling. The cleaning lady was very hard working and friendly as was the 24h security guard. Iain was always available to help us set up activities. We are already talking about renting it again.”

Secluded Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent several nights at this home and enjoyed it very much. First off, even if yo do not book this home, I highly recommend the booking agent David Jaen at nicaragua365.com He speaks excellent English and was an awesome translator on several occasions. David always answered his phone and replied to emails promptly. The home is private, large, comfortable, with outstanding access to a very private and small beach. Two days we had the beach to ourselves. The water is reasonably clear but don't expect any vibrant coral or many fish to snorkel with. Buy your groceries including ice at the Maxi Pali (grocery store) in Rivas before heading to the house. There is a small grocery store in Playa Gigante. The grounds keepers cooked us dinner two nights. I could not get the WiFi to work but had rented a hotspot/GPS from Alamo and it worked great. I highly recommend the zip line in San Juan del Sur "Da' Flying Frog" This place is pretty remote but it fit our needs just right.

Beautiful location for rest and solitude

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I wanted to get some rest and not be bothered by crowds for a few days. The house and location turned out to be the perfect place to relax and get away for 3 days but we would have all stayed longer.

Guacalito beach is very private and you only see people late in the afternoon when they release some turtles right before dark. The hosts were very attentive to all of our needs.

Although the house is within Guacalito resort it does not give you access to the golf and Manzanillo beach club. We were told that you can reserve at their restaurants though.

Since we wanted to get away from the crowds we were completely satisfied with our decision to stay at this very beautiful and private home. The pool is perfect for relaxing. Sitting outside at night with the lights turned off you feel as if you can touch the stars while enjoying the ocean breezes.
