Secluded country retreat situated next to a magnificent walled garden at The Yair

Garden Cottage is a unique and charming secluded cottage, situated on the edge of a magnificent and truly impressive walled garden on the private Yair Estate, in the heart of the Scottish Borders on the bank of the river Tweed. Boasting wonderful views of the south facing walled garden, this property is ideal for those looking to relax in peaceful and beautiful surroundings.

The cottage comprises of two large bedrooms (which can be configured as either 1 twin room and 1 double room or 2 double rooms), a cosy sitting room with log burner, large kitchen diner and shower room with a large walk in shower. Both bedrooms are upstairs using a fairly steep staircase, which may make access difficult for some and might not be particularly suitable for the elderly or those with mobility difficulties.

Rental is fully inclusive of linen, towels, logs etc and the cottage comes fully equipped with all white goods (dishwasher tablets and washing powder provided), TV, DVD player, telephone (landline calls only please) and wifi. Responsible pets are allowed but are asked to remain downstairs.

Guests have access to the walled garden, glens and walkways and are free to roam the entire Estate and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, away from the main road. Guests can also fish for Trout (April through to beginning of September).

Being located on the Southern Upland Walk and Cycle route, a 5 minute stroll from the river, a short drive of numerous golf courses and boasting a tennis court (shared with other cottages), Braefoot Cottage is perhaps ideally suited to the outdoor enthusiast. Mountain biking has gained in popularity in recent years and there are now many published routes surrounding The Yair. The well known Glentress mountain biking centre can be reached easily by car (20 mins drive) or by bike (Southern Upland Way).

Awesome Stay at the Yair

We stayed at the Garden Cottage and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the gardens. Also we took full advantage of the many walking trails in the local area. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfy. We would love to come back again!

A magical getaway

Such a gorgeous property - I wish we could have spent more time here! Check in is easy as can be. Highly recommend this for a getaway in nature. The cottage is comfortable and lovely - albeit with a few spider friends, but they are no bother. The owners left a homemade lemon loaf as well! The gardens are just stunning and I could have spent hours walking through them, not to mention the trails around the estate. Definitely hope to come back for a longer stay in the future! Thank you!

Garden cottage dream!

Absolutely love everything about this property! Honestly could have used the entire week just roaming around the gorgeous estate grounds . And that walled garden!?! Just a dream😍 The Fall colors were breathtaking! Super comfy bed! Cozy kitchen and living area. Great shower! Everything you need! Loved the lemon drizzle bread made by Hannah and Ollie was so kind to come and rescue us when we locked ourselves out. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The Garden Cottage is an enchanting house surrounded by a wonderful garden. Olly and Hannah take such care of the whole property and the quests. You just feel incredibly comfortable. Nothing is missing. We will be back again. Thank you for everything.

Really lovely cottage

No complaints regarding cottage. It was absolutely lovely. However I found the VRBO logging in processes convoluted and difficult. Didn't actionally receive any last minute information, and neither was it available to me on going looking for the information on VRBO.

Idyllic Cottge in Beautiful Country Estate

The perfect place to get away from it all. The Garden Cottage is situated at the edge a beautiful garden and set within an estate which boasts forests, rivers and hills. Withdirect access to the national cycle path 1 there is lovely quiet lanes to explore some of the Border towns. There are also mountain bike trails in the woods surrounding Yair. We had a brilliant day out at the 7Stanes, Glentress, this offers a huge array of excellent mountain bike trails. The property is beautifully finished, has excellent TV and wifi and the kitchen is equipped with everything needed for family meals. The owners are welcoming and ensure everything is as it should be for a super family holiday.

Beautiful Garden Cottage

Garden cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. Olly was at the cottage to meet us and explain how everything operated. The cottage has been recently renovated - looks amazing and is incredibly comfortable. The shower is spacious and powerful and the bed supremely comfortable, dressed in beautiful cotton - we slept so well at the cottage. We dined at the cottage most nights and it was a pleasure to cook in the stylish and well equipped kitchen. The garden is outstanding and it is a joy to walk in the extensive grounds. We were fortunate to enjoy some fishing and Alan is a knowledgeable and charming ghillie. We look forward to returning very soon.

Toller Urlaub über Weihnachten zum Entspannen

Es ist ein wundervolles Cottage, sehr gemütlich eingerichtet. Wir haben unseren Weihnachtsurlaub sehr genossen. Vielen Dank an Olly für den schönen Baum. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Man kann direkt vom Haus tolle Wanderungen zum Tweed oder über die Weiden unternehmen. Es ist wunderbar ruhig und abgelegen. Ich habe lange nicht mehr so gut geschlafen wie hier. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet und es hat uns nichts gefehlt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Für uns perfekt

Sehr ruhig, geschmackvoll eingerichtet, Betten die ihresgleichen suchen, toll ausgestattete Küche, ein eigener Walled Garden. Wie gesagt, für uns war´s perfekt. Die Nähe zu Melrose, Peebles und Galashiels kommen noch on top drauf. Der Fluß Tweed ein Traum. Gerne wieder. Vielen Dank Oliver

Bordering on Tranquility

Lovely cottage in magnificent setting, offering a peaceful retreat for the festive season. Well stocked kitchen, cosy rooms with wood burning stove and comfy beds to encourage lazy days. The addition of a decorated Christmas tree made it feel very homely. We look forward to returning in Spring/Summer.
