Overview

About the property

2br/2ba + Loft/sleeps 7 With Mountain Views And Fishing

There's no place in the world like the charm and haunt of southern Appalachia. Our cozy cottage is tucked away in the heart of the Clinch Mountains but offers all the amenities of home with its modern rustic interiors. Nestled beneath a 2,000 foot ridge and overlooking a fresh water spring fed two-acre pond, it's the perfect getaway from the hustle of normal life.

The cottage will sleep six comfortably, has a wrap around porch, updated interiors, and is a unique remote getaway. It would be the perfect getaway for writers or fly fisherman or a romantic secluded getaway for an anniversary, as well as a great family vacation spot.

There are two bedroom and a bathroom downstairs and a loft and full bath upstairs with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and central heat and air.

(The pond was stocked in 2004 with blue gill, small mouth bass, and Koie and is a fun place to fish with kids. We do not provide fishing gear and encourage catch and release! The property is located on Sweet Creek and a few miles from the Clinch River.)

About owner/property manager

We purchased the land in 2002 and then spent a year designing the fresh water pond. After the damn was constructed, Hurricane Ivan filled the pond and we began construction on the cottage. It was finished in 2005.

owner/property manager purchased this cottage in 2002

We'll be back next summer!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a good time. The home is airy, clean, adequate seating, plenty of space for a couple extra blowup beds. All supplies were indeed plentiful and then some. We were outside on the deck, in the creek, feeding Koi, fishing, paddling the lake, hiking up the hill. It was difficult to get to so follow the instructions. No gps or cell phone usage on the way up. My dog had a blast being off the leash. We left some painted trail rocks on the property for others to enjoy. Two items FYI: please fix the dock and get rid of the cactus on the rocks.

One of our best vacations ever!

  • 5 of 5

I'm writing this review upon arriving back at home. We are all so relaxed and feel so good. Most vacations are so exhausting. Not this one. Our family was perfectly content just staying at this vacation home and hanging out with each other. We took daily walks, fished, played board games, ate fantastic meals and watched the sunsets. We only went into town to get more food. We truly felt at home. We were completely comfortable. All you need to bring is food, everything else you would need is provided. We all agreed that we want to return to this wonderful place in the mountains.

Wonderful Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Lovely mountain retreat with an extensively equipped kitchen. We just walked the country roads as we didn't really see any hiking trails but there was very little traffic and we talked with a couple of neighbors who were quite hospitable.

This is the mountain retreat you have been looking for!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We throroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful mountain cabin. It had everything we were looking for. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and the cabin has everything you need to feel at home. Everything was clean and ready for us to relax when we arrived. Edie and Steve are great folks to work with.

If you are looking for a place to enjoy peace and quiet, this is the place for you. We rarely saw any traffic on the road to the cabin. The people who live nearby are wonderful and we really enjoyed getting to know some of them while we were there.

Being from Louisiana, we love to fish. I suggest bringing your fishing equipment and some worms. The fishing in the pond was great!!! My 10 year old daughter caught a beautiful 17.5" bass with just a worm under a cork. The pond also served as a pool. The kids enjoyed swimming in the pond. There is not a whole lot of grass in the pond so it was perfect to cool off on hot days.

The amount of wildlife you will see here is amazing. We saw plenty of white tail deer and rabbit while driving through the mountains, there were birds everywhere, and the sheer number of fire flies you will see at night are breathtaking. We brought our Jack Russell with us and she really enjoyed running around the place. Bring along some bug spray for yourself while sitting outside at night. It was pretty wet most of our stay, so the mosquitos were in full force.

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are only a 2 hour drive from here. We spent one day taking the kids to the Smoky Mountain National Park. If you've never been, it's well worth a couple of hours in the car.

Some suggestions for those looking to stay here. The cabin is secluded, so be sure to have paper maps printed and be prepared for the last leg of your journey, your GPS may not work. Also, look for the cabin on google maps and get your directions based on the coordinates, not the address. If you do not have Verizon, you will NOT have any cell phone service. The nearest town with AT&T service is Rogersville. Rogersville is only a 30 minute drive from the cabin and has everything you would need during your stay. Sneedville, is about 10 minutes closer, but there is only a small grocery store and there is no AT&T service.

If you are on the fence about renting this gorgeous cabin, go ahead and do it!!! You will not be disappointed. My wife and I are already planning out next trip in the fall.

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Please do not give up the opportunity to visit this piece of Heaven. We LOVED every part of being there. Most gracious host's and new friends are made with the owners. We fished, canoed, paddle boated around the lake. We jumped off the dock and swam until it got to dark. The country side to get there is beyond beautiful and it will surround you with calmness from a busy city life. We will return year after year... Please go and enjoy!!!
