Perfect family beach house

Despite the difficult conditions on the South Coast we were still able to enjoy some time at this lovely beach house. Great location & views & pet friendly. A generous welcome basket & well stocked pantry was very much appreciated.

Family holiday by the beach

Perfectly situated beach house looking across the sand and out to sea this well set up house has everything we needed for a perfect stay. The kitchen was amazing loved the stove and coffee machine. A great welcome pack from our Hosts

Brilliant house in an outstanding location!

A perfect Easter weekend with friends in a brilliant location with amazing views. A wonderful comfortable house with great bedrooms & plenty of room to relax. A welcome basket & a pantry full of all the little kitchen items you might need, the homeowners have made it very easy for us to enjoy our stay. Awesome communication, this property comes highly recommended as do Culburra Beach Lake Wollumboola The Little Snapper & Bennys Beach Cafe

Fantastic mini break

Golden Shores is a fabulous location that has everything our group was looking for . Magnificent views, access to the beach, great cafes within walking distance and the house was, clean, well equipped and comfortable, providing everything we needed. Helen is a wonderful host, leaving a basket of goodies that included a well received bag of treats for our two pups and offering us early check in and late check out so we could maximise our time at the beach. We were a group of 8 adults , split between two generations and this property ticked the boxes for us all. We will definitely be back to explore the area further.

Great stay

Great communication with the owners. Beautiful house, no aircon was an issue until we realised that the big windows cool the house down with the breeze so well, also every room had its own portable fan. 10 minute walk to any shops and the entrance to the beach is just down your driveway (there is one to the beach from the house but it isn’t great for older people as it can get a little steep). Absolutely would recommend.

wonderful week at this property

Loved the views, well equipped house with toiletries and kitchen items. Welcome pack was appreciated. Extremely handy to the dog beach, only a few minutes walk. House worked well with our dogs as there is a fenced area at the side where they could eat and stay when we went out. The house is starting to look a little tired for the amount it costs at peak time, however it was clean, the beds were comfortable and the separate tv area worked well so that didn’t bother us. Nice areas to sit outside, although it was windy most days so it’s good you can see the views from inside. Helen and Ian are very responsive and communication was prompt and clear. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed the location and house a lot.

Dirty and Upsetting

Stains on pillow and quilt. Dirty sandy floor and table tops. Food crumbs on the floor. Black mould in the bedroom. Pet hair on surfaces. Dead spiders and cockroaches on bedroom floor and in bath. (I suppose that is better than live ones). Unclean place and owner was not willing to offer a solution and believed cleaners over me. Of course they would say they cleaned the place! He accused me of lying about the state of the house despite us supplying pictures. Had the owner had offered a sensible solution on the night, we might not of been in this mess. He offered a full refund minus service fee and went back on his word resulting in us losing close to a thousand dollars and ruining a holiday that was meant to be a memorable 50th birthday with good friends. We had an agreement and he went back on his word. He offered partial reimbursement and then refused to cover alternative accommodation, which was less than the current accommodation. He would not cover the cost of the hotel room we had to stay in because of due to lack of accommodation because at short noticed. So sad. So upsetting.

In response to this review we wish to make the following comments. The guest arrived on the first day and late afternoon contacted us advising she was leaving and seeking other accommodation. She provided photographs which included one cushion out of 30 cushions in this large 5 bedroom ocean front house, with a 5 cent piece stain mark on it. The mark on the doona was not a stain but a discoloration again size of a 5 cent piece. The pictures of the sand was minimal. We acknowledge there were 2 dead cockroaches and 1 dead spider. Between cleans surface sprays are done and as we back onto the sand dunes, straight onto the beach, the odd insect is inevitable . There was no mold, it was a water stain, as there had been heavy rain. Our cleaning team inspected the property, provided a report and confirmed all the matters were extremely minor. It would appear that there was another reason for not wanting to proceed with the booking. For a 5 guest booking that then moved to a 2 bedroom apartment at Kiama, raises doubts about the reason for wanting to leave. Of the 3 nights stay we did refund 2 nights plus cleaners fee and without any deduction of Stayz fees. This was more than reasonable under the circumstances.

Dreadful

This is probably the worst place we have ever stayed. Gave the owner an opportunity to refund and offered to provide evidence photographs but owner would not accommodate. Happy to provide anyone with photos. The place has never been cleaned. Owner said professional cleaners went in day before - this is rubbish. Filth, spiders (both alive and dead), cockroaches. The stains on the furniture were so bad that we could not sit on the couch. Foul stains with weird white powder on top, carpet filthy, sand and dirt everywhere, damaged binds. Locks didn't work properly. Cooktop failed to heat so you can't cook. Every plate was chipped. No tall glasses (only one tumbler glass) to drink out of so my young son hard to drink out of a tall beer glass. Cutlery was dirty. Actual rubbish from previous guests in the garden outside, paper plates and garbage. Seriously overpriced. The furniture all looks like it was off the side of the road. The owner said I never told her about taking two dogs, but I emailed her weeks before the date specifically asking about fencing for my two dogs and she replied. So am not sure how she can say she didn't know. Happy to provide evidence of this also. As I said, offered the owner to refund and provide photos but she would not agree. Cobwebs, all paintings on a lean. No one had cleaned this place at all. Foul. Disappointing. Overpriced.

Perfect location

The size of the house was perfect for our group of six adults and three children with room to spare. You can't beat the location, truly spectacular views. The beach is beautiful and easy to access. Would stay again!

CNY away

The place is a bit too hot to sleep in the first day arrived. would prefer air conditioner place next time. TV signal is weak, unable to watch Channel 7,9 etc.

We do encourage guests to contact us if any appliances are not working, properly. The problem with the SmartTV was that one of the guests had switched off the power to the antennae booster switch, we could have advised the guest to check this and the Smart TV would have worked.

Views for miles

Beautiful views, well equipped house. So relaxing and so handy to the beach, only a few minutes walk. Stunning beaches. Local food and service faultless. The house is tired and worn, and not overly clean but not an issue enough to take away from the ocean views, the sounds of crashing waves and the serenity that is the sea! On a clear night, star gazing is a must! Helen and Ian are very responsive

Excellent location. The house is ok but needs maintenance.

Some windows wouldn't open. Blinds didn't work etc. Great for supply of crockery and appliances. Needs an iron and towel airer. Also need access to the 3rd bathroom in the studio because the one main bathroom is not sufficient for the 8 people without the ensuite. Overall a very nice place and an enjoyable stay.

Family holiday

Amazing location. Heavy rain caused a leak from the skylight which disappointing the owner was aware of when notified. We had 9 people with only 8 dining chairs available. The house can cater for 10 people! Another outdoor setting would enable the whole group to sit on the back deck and enjoy the amazing view. Overall just looking a little tired. Well appointed kitchen and appliances good. We had a fun family holiday.

Relaxing Birthday weekend

Our group of 5 was thrilled with every aspect of this property. Very spacious and so well equipped. The view was amazing, and in light of the dreadful weather during our stay was ideal, as we could watch the waves and the storms roll in from the comfort of a panoramic living room.
