About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

La Perla is the perfect place to stay for enjoying Old Town and the numerous activities nearby. This private adobe casita/guesthouse in Albuquerque's historic Old Town neighborhood welcomes vacationers, families, and business travelers alike. Lovingly restored after years of neglect, this Old Town property is convenient to restaurants, museums, galleries and shopping. Guests frequently have described La Perla as a home away from home with both Southwest charm and modern conveniences.

The 1 bedroom casita sleeps up to 2 adults and 2 children with a queen-size bed in bedroom and double sleeper sofa in the living room. Enjoy the lovely courtyard during these warm weather months or sipping your favorite glass of wine or reading a book in front of the living room's inviting gas kiva fireplace with full banco. Brick floors and slightly vaulted ceiling, along with dining table and comfortable sofa and chairs, complete the living room's ambience.

We hope you'll join our family of delighted La Perla guests who come back over and over.

The bedroom has a queen-sized plush mattress, dresser and closet with a shower bath just off the bedroom and a courtyard entrance. The kitchen is fully furnished and includes coffeemaker, microwave and washer/dryer. For stays of more than 2 weeks, maid service is provided every other week. Both living room and bedroom have courtyard access - a pleasant place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, entertain guests, or just hang out in the warm weather months.

PLEASE NOTE: Starting September 2015, La Perla will make the front bungalow available on a limited basis. Contact us for more information

About Phyllis

Rob Rispoli and Phyllis Harper-Rispoli are the proud owners of La Perla in Old Town. Having traveled a great deal ourselves, we know how important the little things can be and take delight in providing a "home away from home" for our visitors from around the U.S. and the world.

Phyllis, with years of experience in career development, has assisted numerous men and women on how to improve their careers or find new passions. Her experience with people and her dedication to their needs can be seen in the care and consideration she provides to each person that stays at La Perla. Rob has spent decades provide real estate services to families throughout the U.S. He still maintain a mortgage lending company but more often than not you will find him in the courtyard working on the flowers and pond that make the courtyard a quiet peaceful place to 'hang out'. As only the third owners in a hundred years our obligation is to watch over and manage this beautiful historic property for others to enjoy...Rob and Phyllis

Phyllis purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Phyllis chose Albuquerque

We moved a great deal and while Tempe, Arizona was our base we lived in Palo Alto, CA, Minneapolis, MN, Durango, CO, Greenville, SC AND Albuquerque. As Tempe and the Phoenix area grew, we decided it was the right time to relocate to a smaller city and a less stressful lifestyle. One day, while on a business trip to Albuquerque, Rob noticed a for sale sign being pounded into the ground in front of a just-renovated Old Town property. He stopped, greeted the owner, went inside, called Phyllis and the rest as they say is history! We love our property and want you to feel as comfortable and relaxed as we do everyday when we greet the day. Come stay with us and enjoy the very best of our town in old town...!

What makes this cottage unique

La Perla is located in the heart of Old Town. We are close to parks, museums and great shopping. We are a block from the beautiful plaza which has restaurants, art galleries, and authentic Native-American jewelry. We are on the main bus grid and you can be downtown with access to the 'Railrunner' to Santa Fe in eight minutes. We have great local dining and lots of music venues in the summer. We are one mile from the Bio-Park and so much more. Park your car and walk, enjoy the great views, the great weather, and tne wonderful atmosphere of old town! (We do, everyday)

Guestbook comments from the owner

La Perla, a casita of peace and joy. It has been a wonderful week of reliving treasured memories of December, 2004 and creating new memories to enjoy in the future. Thank you sharing Aspen, a definite asset to La Perla! We look forward to our next visit.

Great place to stay!! You won't be disappointed!!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the month of March 2017. The home was everything we wanted, quiet, comfortable bed, clean and not far to the bike trail. We were only two blocks from Old Town, a five minute walk to the park, restaurants, stores and museums. I felt very safe walking around Old Town and you meet people from all over the country. Phyllis and Rob were such great hosts! It was fun to sit in the yard talking to them and learning all about New Mexico. They gave us so many tips on things to do and places to go. Their pond and little waterfall was so relaxing! The home is just as described and you won't be disappointed. We will definitely rent from Phyllis again!!!

Charming, comfortable, convenient

  • 5 of 5

I recently returned from a month's stay at La Perla. I can't imagine more charming, comfortable, or convenient accommodations. The casita is immaculate and well-stocked, the setting is quiet and private, and the location is within walking distance of several museums and good restaurants. The hosts, Phyllis and Rob, are delightful and very helpful with suggestions on where to shop, what restaurants to try, and information about the neighborhood (as I shopped for property to buy). I'm looking forward to another stay in the spring!

Oasis in Albuquerque

  • 5 of 5

Spotless and charming, La Perla is just steps from Old Town Albuquerque. Phyllis and Rob are gracious hosts and they made us feel right at home. Enjoyed our time in downtown as well as at the Balloon Fiesta and anyone who ventures this way should make sure to stop at Monroe's for some of their delicious green chile stew.

Had a wonderful time

  • 5 of 5

The location is perfect. You're a block away from Old Town and Museums. Phyllis and Rob are so hospitable. The casita is lovely inside and out. I really enjoyed their patio, it's just beautiful. Rob is an excellent gardener. I also had my dogs along and they were welcoming to them as well. Phyllis is very helpful in helping you with planning excursions or anything else you might need.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

Phyllis and Rob were so welcoming and the casita was comfortable and charming! We had everything we needed and the location was a very short walk to Old Town. We took day trips to Hatch, Santa Rosa, Gallup, Las Cruces and Taos with no problem at all. There were tons of interesting things to see in Albuquerque as well. It was nice having such a nice place to come back to each day to relax. We would definitely stay at La Perla again!

Definitely worth a stay.

  • 5 of 5

I just spent the month of March at La Perla and my only wish is that it could have been a longer stay. Gracious and thoughtful hosts (Phyllis and Rob), immaculate accommodations, quiet and private setting, yet within a short walk to museums, restaurants and Old Town. Having the additional garden space and stream only adds to the charm.
