Overview

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The perfect place for enjoying your Old Town stay and its many activities, La Perla is a private adobe casita/guesthouse in Albuquerque's historic Old Town neighborhood.. Lovingly restored after years of neglect, this property is convenient to restaurants, museums, galleries and shopping. To our delight, guests often describe La Perla as a home away from home with both Southwest charm and modern conveniences.

The casita sleeps up to 2 adults and 2 children with a queen-size bed in bedroom and double sleeper sofa in the living room. Enjoy the lovely courtyard during the warm weather months; sip a glass of New Mexico wine while relaxing in front of the living room's inviting gas kiva fireplace in the winter. Brick floors, a slightly vaulted ceiling, along with a traditional banco, dining space for 4 and a comfortable sofa complete the living room.

The bedroom has a courtyard entrance, queen-sized plush mattress, dresser, closet, and shower bath. The kitchen is fully equipped with coffeemaker, microwave and washer/dryer (but no dishwasher.) Maid service is provided every other week for extended stays.

In addition to the courtyard which is shared with the front unit (usually the owners), there is a small, private patio off the kitchen to enjoy your morning cup of coffee or tea.

We hope you'll join our family of La Perla guests.

About Phyllis

Rob Rispoli and Phyllis Harper-Rispoli are the proud owners of La Perla in Old Town. Having traveled a great deal ourselves, we know how important the little things can be and take delight in providing a "home away from home" for our visitors from around the U.S. and the world.

Phyllis, with years of experience in career development, has assisted numerous men and women on how to improve their careers or find new passions. Her experience with people and her dedication to their needs can be seen in the care and consideration she provides to each person that stays at La Perla. Rob has spent decades provide real estate services to families throughout the U.S. He still maintain a mortgage lending company but more often than not you will find him in the courtyard working on the flowers and pond that make the courtyard a quiet peaceful place to 'hang out'. As only the third owners in a hundred years our obligation is to watch over and manage this beautiful historic property for others to enjoy...Rob and Phyllis

Phyllis purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Phyllis chose Plaza Vieja

We moved a great deal and while Tempe, Arizona was our base we lived in Palo Alto, CA, Minneapolis, MN, Durango, CO, Greenville, SC AND Albuquerque. As Tempe and the Phoenix area grew, we decided it was the right time to relocate to a smaller city and a less stressful lifestyle. One day, while on a business trip to Albuquerque, Rob noticed a for sale sign being pounded into the ground in front of a just-renovated Old Town property. He stopped, greeted the owner, went inside, called Phyllis and the rest as they say is history! We love our property and want you to feel as comfortable and relaxed as we do everyday when we greet the day. Come stay with us and enjoy the very best of our town in old town...!

What makes this cottage unique

La Perla is located in the heart of Old Town. We are close to parks, museums and great shopping. We are a block from the beautiful plaza which has restaurants, art galleries, and authentic Native-American jewelry. We are on the main bus grid and you can be downtown with access to the 'Railrunner' to Santa Fe in eight minutes. We have great local dining and lots of music venues in the summer. We are one mile from the Bio-Park and so much more. Park your car and walk, enjoy the great views, the great weather, and tne wonderful atmosphere of old town! (We do, everyday)

Guestbook comments from the owner

La Perla, a casita of peace and joy. It has been a wonderful week of reliving treasured memories of December, 2004 and creating new memories to enjoy in the future. Thank you sharing Aspen, a definite asset to La Perla! We look forward to our next visit.

Our overall experience was just fabulous. We loved the casita and how it provided all the comforts of home. Also the owners could not have been any nicer. They tended to our every need with patience, kindness and a great sense of humor. They absolutely made us feel comfortable the moment we met them...Phyllis and Rob are definitely in the right business, their people skills are a quality we all should have. I would return/recommend La Perla to all of my friends, family and acquaintances.

Comfortable and pet friendly casita within walking distance of Old Town

  • 5 of 5

The guesthouse casita was perfect for our stay during a bike event which started in downtown Albuquerque which was very close by. We brought our dogs and bikes and Phyllis and Rob were very accommodating and made us all feel at home. Upon arrival, we had a minor system glitch with our reservation but once that was cleared up the rest of our stay was perfect and Phyllis and Rob were very apologetic for it. The property has a beautiful courtyard where our dogs could run around in and enjoyed playing with Phyllis and Rob's lab. The casita was comfortable and had everything we needed and more. We would definitely stay again.

Owner's Response: What lovely, gracious guests you were! And outstanding pet owners! We enjoyed having you and the dogs and hope you will come back to Albq. and La Perla again soon. Plus, you have inspired us to train for next year’s Day of the Tread bike ride! Phyllis & Rob

A slice of Albuqueque and a special home

  • 5 of 5

A warm visit with hosts Rob and Phyllis who provided everything we needed, and then more. A traditional adobe home, just perfect for two, with all the conveniences, with a beautiful garden. We walked the one block to Old Town several times, for fun and food. Any time we return to the area, this is the place to call home for a few days.

Great location, walking distance to Old Town and many restaurants.

I stayed 4 weeks at La Perla and I completely enjoyed my time there. Phyllis and Rob are excellent hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The casita is an updated, charming place to relax and has all the comforts of home. I recommend this place for a short-term or long-term stay in the Albuquerque area.

Great place to stay!! You won't be disappointed!!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the month of March 2017. The home was everything we wanted, quiet, comfortable bed, clean and not far to the bike trail. We were only two blocks from Old Town, a five minute walk to the park, restaurants, stores and museums. I felt very safe walking around Old Town and you meet people from all over the country. Phyllis and Rob were such great hosts! It was fun to sit in the yard talking to them and learning all about New Mexico. They gave us so many tips on things to do and places to go. Their pond and little waterfall was so relaxing! The home is just as described and you won't be disappointed. We will definitely rent from Phyllis again!!!

Owner's Response: Terry, we appreciate your very kind words and feel the same about you two as guests. Interestingly, this has become the year of Wisconsinites. Our 3rd WI guests just booked for Balloon Fiesta. If you're spreading the word, please keep doing it. Warm regards, Phyllis & Rob
