Awakening Spirit Retreat is a 3 Bedroom 2 Bath cabin that is located on 8 wooded acres that are yours to explore and hike during your stay. The cabin has a separate garage that has been closed in that is home to Awakening Spirit Massage Therapy and Hypnosis Monday through Friday. The entire cabin was originally used for the business until we closed off the garage so that we could live there during the construction of our home. Our new home is now complete and we wanted to share the simplicity and tranquility that we found while our family stayed in the cabin. The cabin has a covered front porch perfect for drinking your coffee and watching the wildlife as you wake up in the morning, an open back porch with plenty of seating, and a fire pit that is perfect for enjoying the sunset and a glass of wine. There is a game room in a separate building that has a dart board, pool table, and separate refrigerator. The cabin is equipped with a full kitchen that has most of the basic utensils you will need, and a charcoal grill on the back porch. It has a central heat and A/C unit, as well as a wood burning fireplace with wood provided. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and adjoins a full bathroom. The second bedroom has a full size bed, and the third bedroom has a queen size bed with a twin bunk above.

About Russell Winston
Amy and I were both born and raised here in Starkville, MS. We both attended high school at Starkville schools, then continued our education at Mississippi State. After graduating, I began my career in the automotive collision repair industry, and Amy attended The Cayce Reilly School of Massotherapy in Virginia Beach, VA. Amy has been self employed as a massage therapist for 15 years, and I now own Advanced Collision Repair in Starkville. We have 3 young children, and love to travel and discover new places. We enjoy staying in cabins and houses that we find on VRBO, and we are excited to have the opportunity to share our retreat with others.
Russell Winston purchased this Cabin in 2010
Why Russell Winston chose Starkville
The land the cabin is on first belonged to my grandfather. He sectioned off the 8 acres and gave it to his sister so she could have a place to build outside of town to get away. Louise and Kenneth Pyron built the cabin on the property in 1968 where Louise would come to paint and read, and Kenneth would come to work on woodworking projects in the adjacent shop. When Louise and Kenneth passed away the cabin went through several hands, until 2010 when Amy and I had the chance to purchase it to reclaim and restore it for what the property was originally intended. We love this property and are excited to share this peaceful retreat with others.

Great little cabin in the woods!
We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed every inch of the cabin . We will definitely be repeat renters at this location.
Tranquil, calming, with beautiful views of surrounding land. Beautifully furnished cabin that provided a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a convenient location in Starkville Ms.

Super Stay on Super Bulldog Weekend!!
For a second year in a row, we spent super-bulldog weekend at this cabin.
And as we did last year, we love it!!
Cabin is really clean, has all the essentials and more!!
Owners go the extra mile to make you feel at home!, we found a nice basket with all the fixing to make smores, waiting for us !
The cabin's location is perfect!! out of town just enough to be surrounded by woods, but so close to Starkvegas and MSU for gameday or other activities.
We are already planning for Super bulldog weekend 2019! :)

Nice nature escape
Liked the “homey” things like stocked bookshelves and DVD shelves, although we did not turn on the TV once during our stay. Watch out for ticks!! It’s that time of year and boy did they love my blood type. Lots of space for walking around and watching birds.
Our cabin is located on 8 wooded acres, and is a perfect setting for a weekend of relaxation. We are located 3 miles from the campus of Mississippi State University, and 3 miles from the Mississippi Horse Park. We are just far enough out of town to not see another person if you like, but still close enough to be in the middle of any events that Starkville has to offer with in 5 minutes.
