AFFORDABLE PARADISE!!!

We stayed in Neal and Vicky's condo for a week last April. We had absolutely no issues. The decor may be older but very comfortable. The king size bed is very comfortable. If you want granite countertops you can get one for double the price and not get the views. The views are so amazing you could spend your entire stay inside. There was absolutely no stange odors or mildew. We had a few days of wild weather, when we opened the door to go in or out the wind would blow us like a cartoon. We loved it, it was an adventure!

The pictures don't do this condo justice, the views are MESMERIZING! The owners, Neal and Vicky are great, if there ever was a problem they would take care of it immediately.

The kitchen is fully equipped, even a dishwasher!

View-Spectacular, Unit not so much!

We have rented two other in units at Maui Kai prior to this visit and never had any issues, so after reading reviews on 408 we did not hesitate to rent. We were stunned when we arrived. The smell was very bad, even the fabric softener in the air vents (which is not something I want to breath) couldn't mask the mustiness. The carpet is probably original to the 70's, which is most likely where the smell comes from. We wouldn't even walk on it barefoot. I cannot understand having carpet in such a moist environment for so long. The towels were also very musty. Disgusting to take a shower and have to dry off with towels that smell like mildew/mold. The furniture is uncomfortable, which really wasn't a problem for us as we didn't spend any time inside. Don't plan on cooking as the kitchen is not very well stocked and has ants everywhere. I understand that Hawaii has bugs but neither of the other two units in Maui Kai had ants inside. I have mild allergies and was miserable in this unit. The view, however, is spectacular! We actually cut our vacation short and left the second day. We would never rent this unit again!

Owner's Response: I'm sorry you feel that way. Two weeks prior to your visit, Maui had ALOT of wet, stormy weather. That wet weather continued upon your arrival and a week after your departure. That made everything in Hawaii damp and musty. The building maintenance crew DO NOT put fabric softeners in the air vents. We would have been more than happy to replace your towels. The building maintenance crew sprays regularly for bugs~ants,etc. The wet weather does not help with the bug problem in Hawaii. We have sprayed the unit and have set ant traps to fix that issue. Our kitchen is well stocked and complete with cookware, cooking and eating utensils and dinnerware.If there was something you needed, We would have gladly accommodated you.

OUR 7TH VISIT TO HAWAII. BY FAR THE BEST PLACE TO STAY

Unit 408 at the Maui Kai is great! It's right on the ocean and being a corner unit you look up the beach for miles. When the wind is blowing you see the plams swaying and the waves coming in and you hear the roar of the ocean. It's true PARADISE. You never want to leave.

The unit is very comfortable, the king size bed is very comfortable and the roar of the ocean will put you to sleep in no time. I have read all the other reviews and they are spot on. You can get other units in the same building and pay more than twice as much and not get these awesome views.

And saving the best for last the owners are great!! Neal is the nicest person.

Stunning Sunsets!

We had a wonderful stay at the Maui Kai and Neal couldn't have been nicer. On our first morning we were greeted by whales breaching right in front of the condo. The Maui Kai was the perfect launching point for seeing the sites in West Maui and was a short drive to Honolua Bay. It felt great coming home to a perfect sunset every night.

Perfect place to relax!

We stayed for a wonderful week to celebrate my wife's birthday. This is a wonderful, well maintained unit with a corner view of the ocean and up the beach. Very quiet and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The owner is very helpful and helped arrange for flowers to be delivered to the unit for her birthday. The unit is close to The Fish Market and The Farmer's Market and Time supermarket. Duke's is just down the beach and the unit is close to the best snorkeling on the west side. Again I must emphasize that the owner is just perfect to work with. IF YOU WANT A PLACE TO RELAX AND CHILL THIS NEEDS TO BE ON YOUR LIST OF OPTIONS!

Perfect for us!

We stayed 2 full gloreous weeks in April 2015 in Maui Kai 408. It is the ONLY unit in this complex that is affordable for us and we loved it. It is an older unit but is well maintained and very CLEAN. We don't need all the fancy upgrades that add alot of extra expense to the other units. AND...this is a CORNER unit which makes it so wonderful. Quiet...never heard a neighbor, perfect 4th floor view. Whales, sandy beach and so very close to the ocean. While sitting on the lanai, all you can see is water. The enclosed lanai adds so much more living space. The property directly north has a restaurant/bar which is ocean front. Then, Duke's is within walking distance to the south. Wouldn't change a thing about this unit. Can't wait to go back and will most definantly stay in this very unit. The owners are wonderful to work with and we appreciate them keeping it so affordable.
