DESCRIPTION OF THE COTTAGE

THE COTTAGE IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR A MINIMUM OF THREE DAYS/MAXIMUM OF SEVEN DAY STAYS. NO ONE UNDER 30.

LANDSCAPED/ GARDEN-LIKE OUTSIDE -- The Cottage is comparable to a five star hotel room in this area, at a fraction of the cost. Your elegant guest home-away-from-home has its own private entrance through a secret, landscaped garden walk. The door to your cottage has its own security code off a beautiful, private patio with two chaise lounges, glass-top table for outside dining, a hot tub and an orchid-filled outdoor shower. Access to the shared-with-your hosts (but no one else) sparkling new, salt-water heated swimming pool (clothing optional), gas grill, outside dining area all enclosed with a privacy fence and gorgeous, lush tropical landscaping. A double-doored gate separates the Cottage from the pool area. You may choose to leave it open or close it for complete privacy.

UPSCALE, COMFORTABLE INSIDE -- The comfortable living area comes complete with 42" flat screen TV plus free high-speed WIFI. Also, you'll find a comfortable, full-size sofa, a designer upholstered chair for reading, an antique trunk (for a coffee table), a huge chest of drawers (for your clothing), books and book shelves for your reading pleasure, oriental carpets and original artwork throughout.

Off the living room is a galley styled kitchen with mini-fridge, toaster, microwave oven, Keurig & regular coffee maker, sink, a cozy glass-topped breakfast table with two stools and a full washer/dryer. We provide FREE beverages including coffee and tea pods, soft drinks and bottled water. You also have full use of the outside grille by the pool for cooking.

The separate bedroom boasts a queen-size, sleigh bed with new, firm mattress, two night stands, plus a large armoire to hang your clothes and a charging station for your i-phone or Android. The entire cottage is done with taste, interesting antiques and tasteful furnishings and signed original artwork and posters. But it is not stuffy. It is comfortable, warm, cozy.

TONS OF AMENITIES -- It also comes with these amenities: Tommy Bahama beach chairs & umbrella, two bikes, beach mats, a welcome basket of goodies and libations, all linens & bath towels, beach towels, bath soaps & shampoo, plus all the kitchen fundamentals. Plus we offer many other amenities -- massage table, iron, free coffee/tea pods, soft drinks, bottled water, etc.

PARKING -- The cottage includes one FREE, off-street parking space.

TAXES -- VRBO collects and pays directly the Florida State Sales Tax (7%) and the local Broward County Tourist Development tax (6%.) Legally, both must be collected and paid. The rate shown, includes both taxes.

The important thing is: you get what you want. It is your visit -- our goal is to not only meet your expectations, but to exceed them.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
We live in beautiful West Wilton Manors. It is a quiet, upscale residential neighborhood -- only a few blocks from all the action on the famous Wilton Drive and an easy 10 minute drive to the beaches and Las Olas (the main drag of Ft. Lauderdale). The streets often have very friendly people walking their dogs, jogging or biking. There are hundreds of things to do and see, gay and straight.

Mikel Park -- underwent a $1.6 million renovation -- anchors the neighborhood and you are free to use it during your stay. It is a few steps from our home. The brightly lit and beautifully landscaped park features estate fencing, outside workout stations, a running/walking path, restrooms, softball/kickball field and a pavilion for musical performances. The park is locked at dusk. There is also a police sub-station in the park and is kept lit all night.

We are located five miles from all the Ft. Lauderdale beaches, including Sebastian (the gay) Beach and dozens of Ft. Lauderdale city beaches, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Beaches(straight/family friendly), and less than five minutes from the bars/restaurants of Wilton Drive. And a short drive from the shops of Las Olas and Haulover Beach (the nude beach). 15 minutes from the Ft. Lauderdale airport. About thirty minutes South (depending on traffic) from South Beach/Miami. 45 minutes North to Palm Beach International Airport.

We are a two minute drive to Publix (a grocery store), Dunkin', 24-hour convenience store, liquor stores, Home Depot & Lowes, Walmart Drug Store and many other retail stores, restaurants & bars.

We will be happy to recommend bars, gyms, restaurants, site-seeing spots, shopping areas -- depending on your preferences. Let us know what you want to do ahead of time and we'll prepare a customized list of suggested places to go and try. Suggestion: Check out Groupon.com for local deals on restaurants, massage services, attractions, theatre, etc. Also, upon confirmation of your reservation, we will send you a specially-created-for Cottage-Guests-only, 30+page manual that not only describes the house rules, but also places to go and see, recommended restaurants, location of nearest beaches and casinos, etc. and a sampling of some of our 400+ FIVE STAR reviews.

GETTING AROUND
We strongly recommend you rent a car so you can easily visit the attractions on Wilton Drive (about seven blocks away), all the beaches, restaurants, upscale shopping on Las Olas, and the nearby bars. Depending on the season, Florida car rentals are typically not expensive, but be sure to check rates. You may also wish to try Toro.com. Parking is incredibly cheap. (We'll show you where & how to pay, depending on where you want to go.)

Given the nature of the city & its party-atmosphere, UBER and LYFT are very popular and easy-to-use here. Cabs are also available, but more expensive. If you plan on having a drink out, USE UBER or LYFT. Wilton Manors also now features CIRCUIT... a golf-cart service taking you between any two points in Wilton Manors for $2 pp. Do not drink heavily & drive here. We can also offer you two new bikes, if you prefer to get around that way.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- All the major airlines fly into Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL). We recommend SouthWest Air, They have less add-on “surprises” (like paying for luggage) & a very flexible "change" policy. Other good rates can be found with all the majors, plus Allegiant & JetBlue. We do NOT recommend Spirit. Although a little further away, you may also want to check airfares into Miami (MIA) or Palm Beach International (PBI). MIA is about thirty minutes away/ PBI is about 45 minutes away.

Note: Pre-send a package (with clothes, for example). We’ll hold the package for you until you arrive.

- You’ll find a Welcome Basket on your arrival, full of snacks, libations & tips on what to do & how to get around. Coffee/Tea pods, Soft drinks and water are provided free throughout your stay.

- ITS VERY PRIVATE -- The cottage is attached to our home, though there is NO direct, inside access from the main house to the cottage. Your privacy is assured: there are no direct visual lines between the two buildings & sound does not carry between the Cottage & the main house. There are NO security cameras focused on the patio behind the Cottage, the outdoor shower or hot tub, or inside The Cottage. There are security cameras around the perimeter of the Main House for security purposes.

- The pool is surrounded by a privacy fence. It's a clothing optional area. Since we only rent out this one space, you have these areas to yourself, shared only with your hosts. Guests use all amenities at their own risk.
