Remodeled Historical Home - Close to the Bay - Charming

This charming original beach house has been lovingly maintained and redone over the decades. Many families have enjoyed the property for over 100 years. Perfectly positioned between the piers on the Balboa peninsula, visitors will enjoy both the sun and surf on the beautiful beaches nearby. The bay-front is 7 houses away with multiple bay beaches for children not ready for the big waves of the Pacific Ocean. Bike for miles along the oceanfront boardwalk or stroll along the quiet bay-front to the Balboa Village with shops, restaurants, the Balboa Island ferry and the fun zone close by. 6th St. is one block away containing a convenient small store /deli, a coffee shop, and our wonderful local public library.

The open floor-plan feels large with the living room, dining and kitchen connected for big family meals or friendly get togethers. The dining table can seat 8 and the stand-up bar at the kitchen is a great gathering place. The front patio is perfect for any meal at the large outdoor teak table.

Bedrooms: - front upstairs bedroom has a bay view from the king bed and a comfortable sitting area that converts to an extra queen bed. The large back bedroom has multiple beds. A nice upstairs patio sits directly off this room. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the bright ā€œgarden roomā€ has a day bed that can sleep 1 or 2 and contains extra seating. These 3 sitting areas allow your group to all be together or spread out for different activities. Outdoor seating areas allow for sun or shade all day.

The house has all the amenities: Wi-Fi, cable, fully equipped kitchen, linens, washer and dryer. The house is filled with beautiful varnished wood and hand-built details, the ā€œschoonerā€ bathroom, the ownerā€™s local artwork, our New Zealand seagull, a toy basket, nautical & other books, games, and a ships bell to ring for dinner.

We hope you enjoy this house and get to experience the tranquil streets of the Balboa Peninsula bay-front. SLP12755

Balboa Beach House

Last minute visit. Place was great but cold. Also could have better pillows (felt like my grannyā€™s pillows) and towels. The amount of housework required on checkout was also a bit much. Itā€™s not a dormitory. Otherwise great.

Great location - Wish it had air conditioning or screens

Overall, we were happy with our stay. Large property with many places to spread out and sleep. We were only a part of 5 and could have easily brought 5 more. Areas I think could be upgraded for future visitors: -BIGGEST ISSUE - No Air Conditioning. The temperature outside during our stay was extremely pleasant. We are not used to going without air conditioning so initially, we found it fun to open all the windows and enjoy the fresh air. The problem came when the bugs started entering the property. There are no screens on the windows and the bugs would come in throughout the day and stay. Unfortunately, this means we had numerous bug bites from mosquitos. There were only 2 large fans in the home so we were very warm at night if we kept the windows closed. I'm all for camping, but with the price point, it wore thin on a week-long vacation. This needs to be fully disclosed and/or remedied for future visitors. -Linens- They are on their last leg. Need to be upgraded. Pillows are thin. Bathrooms- For 5 people, we didn't have too many issues with the 2 bathrooms but only one shower was occasionally an issue. The downstairs bathroom had little room to get ready with a pedestal sink and only a tub. Bedrooms- only 1 T.V. in the upstairs bedroom. The others don't have one. Excellent parking, location to the water, and the kitchen was very nice. We took the opportunity to take the kayaks into the water which was incredible. Great front porch swing and sunroom.

Would book again!

This is a unique, 100 year old house that is completely charming and well stocked with all the comforts of home. Located between the beach and bay it was close enough to walk to either but far enough away from crowded, chaotic, party area that it was quiet at night. Only two comments; fireplace advertised on site yet personal information provided states fireplace can NOT be used and house across the street is under construction so M-F construction workers began to show up as early as 6:30 am so quiet morning coffee on front porch swing or sleeping in was not an option.

Perfect family vacay

The property was perfect for our large family plenty of sleep spaces. It was cute and felt like it had old ship theme with itā€™s dark wood and lighthouse decor. Cute story about the property on the wall that made it feel even more homey. Quick walk to the beach. Quick stroll to the Fun Zone. The place has two bathrooms and one shower inside. The other shower is outside. Itā€™s probably an after beach rinse off shower but itā€™s private and a fun adventure showering outside. We would love to stay there again. Thank you for sharing your awesome home!

The charming wood and the spacious kitchen, and all of the decor in the home was very inviting and it felt like you were in a nice wooden ship. We would stay in the home again if available. Plenty of room for our large family of 9 people. The weather was great and all of the fans in the home along with the windows kept the home very cool in early October. Location was quiet and away from 20th street party scene. Loved the location with 8 minute walking distance to ferry location and fun zone area. Marina Cafe was a close bike ride and it really was great. The microwave went out on the second day and the management company replaced it immediately the next day. Highly recommend this fun home!

The biggest concern were the flies. So many flies my son brought over his bug zapper. We couldnā€™t keep windows shut due to the heat. We kept counters and trash emptied but still flies were everywhere.

PERFECT FOR A FAMILY

This property is comfortable and homey ; it is open and great for games ; proximity to the marina beach and the ā€œbigā€ ocean is perfect!! We walked most everywhere and loved the neighborhood.

Family Vacation

This is our 2nd time staying at 318 Lindo Ave and we all had a fantastic stay. This house feels like home with all the character it has. We love staying here, it's a wonderful location, so close to everything, but still quiet and cozy. Looking forward to our stay next year.

The details are charming, the history wonderful, the location perfect. There was a stunning bouquet of roses on the table to greet us when we arrived, which we loved. Property management was welcoming and responsive. We were there in December, and the weather was unusually cold. When we asked management for help staying warm, they jumped through hoops to provide space heaters- for which we were so grateful! All in all a memorable stay, and we hope to return someday!

The side yard allowed us to relax while the small children played & we BBQ'd. Since I have family in the area, they visited & there was plenty of room since the front of the house has a front porch along with a table, which is in the shade from the tree. The large kitchen provided ample area for food prep. Having access thru the back gate was also handy for unloading & extra parking if needed. Overall, this was above our expectations for a great place to stay!

Cruise ship in land

Such a wonderful space for family with sooo much personality! We LOVED all of the different spaces!! One daughter and hubby have a little one, so they had plenty of space in the room with two queen beds! Our SIL could work remotely at the desk in their room as well! The master also had a sitting area and wonderful view of the sweet neighborhood! The kitchen was the most totally furnished cooking space weā€™ve ever experienced in a short term rental!! Everything we needed to cook and serve our family. Our family also totally enjoyed the outdoor shower!! So relaxing!! It does get warm upstairs but there were fans for every bedroom!! We all enjoyed the decor, which was such a fun vibe like being on a funky yacht!!! We will return!

Great location and house

We had a great time in this home. the house has lots of character. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the porch swing and parking wasn't as bad as we expected. The house is close to beach and the bay and just an ideal location. Only downside for us was that we found the listing photos to be deceiving as there are multiple images of bikes, surfboards, paddle boards, kayaks, boogie boards, etc and none of those are available. Management gave us a little bit of a credit to cover some of the costs of our rentals which was nice, but it still ended up costing us a lot more than we had planned to find and rent which a bit of a hassle. Not a deal breaker for sure, but just not what was expected. Even with that we would definitely come back again to this home.

Our grandsons, ages 8 and 6, thoroughly enjoyed exploring the unique features of the house, both inside and out. They found the hanging pulley basket quite fun and useful in hoisting their stuffed animals upstairs upon arrival. They loved the warmth of the outdoor private shower after a day at the beach. The experience of exploring the various nooks and crannies throughout the house brought extra excitement for the boys especially upon finding treasures such as games to play. The comfort of the two living areas provided for some great family timeā€”playing games and for just hanging out together. Sipping on a cup of coffee or enjoying a bowl of ice cream on the porch swing was just heavenly. The location is perfectā€”just a few houses away from the bay or a short walk to the beach. Mochaā€™s from My Galley Coffee were a big hit just a short walk from the back driveway door. We so enjoyed our vacation at this beach house that we hope to return again in the future to create additional fun memories.
