Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 Bed, 1 bath cabin that highlights the art of dog mushing

View the aurora from your living room in this cozy, well appointed, duplex log cabin home. It is the perfect location in town for easy access to everything Fairbanks has to offer while still offering night views of the aurora borealis from the comfort of your sitting area. It is in a dark, quiet neighborhood just outside of downtown. It has two bedrooms with queen-size beds. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking utensils and has plenty of counter space to prepare meals. Seasonings and many other basic kitchen products are available.

There is a counter style bar that seats two and the nearby dining table that seats six. The living area is warm and cozy with a gas fireplace that you can view the flames from all three sides. Though the bathroom is small, it has a huge Jacuzzi tub. There is a deck in the back yard with a gas grill.

Kathy, the single host lives discreetly in the downstairs apartment and is available as a resource if you want to ask about the local sights and aurora viewing. She works all day as a full-time school teacher and spends most evenings tending to her vacation rental properties. There are separate entrances, vehicle plug-ins, and driveways for the both the guests and the host.

About Kathy Alonzo

I am an elementary school teacher. I have lived in Alaska for over 40 years and still love it! I have been in the tourist business for over ten years and am happy to be a resource for your visit. In this photo, I am with Brent Sass the year he won the Yukon Quest!

Kathy Alonzo purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Kathy Alonzo chose Fairbanks

I purchased this duplex as a single family home and my daughter lived in the private downstairs apartment that has its own driveway and entrance from the alley. When she recently got married, I decided to move into the downstairs and rent the upstairs out on this vacation rental website. After running a bed and breakfast for many years, it seemed like a natural step. I enjoy my privacy, but I am always receptive to guests who want to learn more about the area by email, texting, or personal conversation.

Gorgeous House! Close to Town!

  • 5 of 5

Kathy was a wonderful host in this gorgeous house that was so close to town. My family loved staying here over the weeks we booked. We loved watching the flowers bloom and sitting out on the deck in the never ending sun shine. With a food allergy in our family, it's so nice to use such a well stocked kitchen with all the comforts of home. She *definitely* has a muffin pan :)

I hope we can come back soon!

Imagine youself wake up in the morning, having coffee and watching snow falling outside window. I never forget experience I had in Fairbanks and this property enhanced my true Alaskan cabin experience.

The cabin is clean and has everything you need. Kathy is really well communicator. She checked on us time to time to see if we enjoy our stay.

Over all if I'm in Fairbanks again, this is the place I'll stay

Snug and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We visited Fairbanks in February when there was more snow than even the locals are used to. The home stayed warm, cozy, and comfortable no matter the whims of weather. Kathy was an excellent host and the home had everything we could have asked for, including things we would not have thought of (being from a warm state) like an extra power cord for the car winterization system. The beds were comfortable and water pressure fine. The home is conveniently located in a safe neighborhood. There were too many clouds most nights to see the lights. But on our one clear (and crazy cold) night we were able to see the lights from the front windows, so we stayed inside and warm while we watched. Very neat experience! We would very much recommend this property for your Fairbanks stay.
