My mother is 90 and although our family is accustomed to spending holidays at her home, our number one priority has been social distancing to protect her through the pandemic.
In spite of the challenges of 2020, our Christmas was one the best ever thanks to Amy and Robin’s three cabins on Mitchell Lake where our extended family was able to social distance and spend time together outdoors.
Amy was so incredibly responsive to our every need. From the moment we booked, to the moment we realized we’d have to leave a day early to avoid driving through a snow storm, Amy was so easy to reach. She was completely committed to getting there safely and making sure we had a good time once we arrived.
All three cabins were wonderful. They are all immaculate. The kitchens in all three homes were very well stocked with supplies and even Kuerig coffee machines. And all of the cabins incredibly charming complete with lovely decor, cozy cute bedding and fun touches like the snowy egret wallpaper in the Castle cabin. And Robin had them fully decorated for the holiday making us feel so at home on Christmas.
The cabins were warm and the deck spaces spacious and lovely. In spite of the snow, the temps got into the high 30s so we were able to enjoy some outdoor, masked deck visits. The views are mesmerizing. The lake was snow covered for our visit and we couldn’t stop taking photos. It was warm enough one day to use the fire pit at Mom and Pop’s, the largest cabin. It was just gorgeous with the fire, lake and snow-capped trees.
We ventured out one day hitting Campbell Pottery Store, which is really a giant barn featuring dozens of art by local craftsman. Cambridge Springs is a beautiful little town and added to our experience of our country Christmas. We didn’t have time to check out the small ski resort close by but maybe next time. We did enjoy taking walks and imagining all the summer fun the lake might bring.
In a year that we expected to have a somber Christmas, we ended up having the best one ever thanks to Amy & Robin.
I highly recommend Amy & Robin’s cabins for a together/apart pandemic getaway for extended families. Or, each of these homes on their own would also be lovely for smaller families or couples.
Now that we’ve experienced winter in the cabins, we look forward to going back to experience the beauty of the lake in other seasons!
