About Alaska Coastal Studies...Connie Woolfolk

NorthWynn is located within the Wynn Nature Center, a 140 acre wildlife preserve donated to the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies by the Carl E. Wynn Foundation in 1990. Carl Wynn had NorthWynn built by master craftsmen such as Lee Cole, Gus Weber and Werner Stutzer and special touches are seem throughout the house. His daughter, Billie Fischer, has donated the house to The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies, a local non-profit, dedicated to connecting people to the nature of Kachemak Bay.

Alaska Coastal Studies...Connie Woolfolk purchased this house in 1968

A timeless gem overlooking Homer and Kachemack Bay

  • 5 of 5

We were 4 couples looking for an Alaskan reunion venue. We found NorthWynn to be perfect for our needs. Private rooms and baths, a large kitchen and dining table and the perfect living room for lounging and wildlife viewing such as moose and a black bear. Our hosts went out of their way to answer questions and prepare for our comfort. We loved learning about the history of the house a nd it's affitiliation with the Wynn Nature Center. Everyone left with great memories of their stay in Homer.

Owner's Response: We are delighted to find our guests treasure their experience at the NorthWynn! VRBO 62935....It is truly a treasure over looking some of Homer's incredible views and wildlife viewing. The Watering trough and minerals provided for the wild life often bring excellent viewing.

A wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

North Wynn served as housing for our family and the reception for our daughter's wedding. It was a wonderful place to stay and a beautiful back drop for our special occasion.

While the house is original to the time frame in which it was built, it is very comfortable.

Connie was a great help in assisting with other housing and those last minute details that seem to always be missed in the planning.

We look forward to another vacation at North Wynn.

Homer's "Best Kept Secret"

  • 5 of 5

We loved our NorthWynn getaway!! From the views, to the abundant wild flowers, to the serenity and privacy. This mansion built in the 60's is steeped in charm. Don't be taken aback by the green shag carpet and orange chairs - the retro look grows on you. Perfect for 4 couples with their own private bedroom and bath, and comfortable beds. We were blessed with an evening moose, and baby moose on our hike at the Wynn Nature Center which is Homer's best kept secret.

If I had to improve on anything, I would suggest lawn chairs as we loved sitting outside. And a fire pit ring, otherwise perfect.

Explore, indoors and out!

  • 4 of 5

This home truly reflected the love of those who built it. SO many details that showed how much they cared for it and when I was there I felt cared for as well. Pretty magical. And then, when you head outside, the property is beautiful and lots of lawn to play on and woods to explore. I love visiting Homer and whether it's with family or a friends escape ~ NorthWynn is definitely a go to place! p.s. there's a little apt. off the garage so if someone really wants to escape or sleep in, it's the spot!

Classic Log Mansion

  • 4 of 5

This historic log cabin mansion is a classic. It's a very private getaway overlooking Kachemak bay. The cabin is huge with lots of room to relax. Moose and other wildlife casually wander by in the yard. It is also located by the Wynn Center with interpretive talks with their network of hiking trails. As always Homer is a great place to enjoy with all it's fine restaurants, art galleries and of course access to Kachemak bay. We enjoyed our time here...
