Paradise does exist!



Just a few kilometres north of Frigiliana, take the road to the hamlet El Acebuchal, and you will approach the Sierras of Tejeda, Almijara, and Alhama Natural Park. Then, a beautiful green valley. This is where Cortijo Ricardo is located, in a forest setting where peace and quiet reign. Your little paradise—and Andalusia doesn’t come better than this!







Location and outside area



Rustic, private, and rural. This is the essence of this wonderful location. The valley hides at a 10 minute drive from Frigiliana, an enjoyable trip through the mountains. The access has some pronounced curves but doesn't give any problems as the track is fully surfaced with concrete. The cortijo is set on generous grounds and has several sitting corners with flowers and trees. There is an attractive barbecue area and shady porch with patio furniture. The private pool (7m x 4m long and 1.7m - 1.0m deep) comes with sun loungers and is on a higher level giving panoramic views over the valley and also to the hamlet El Acebuchal (1 km), a tiny village with an interesting history. Its inhabitants were forced to abandon the hamlet in 1949 by the Franco regime. El Acebuchal remained unoccupied and fell into ruin until 1998 when a descendant of one of the original villagers bought a house there. He encouraged others to help renovate the 32 homes, town hall, chapel, bar, and streets that make up El Acebuchal. The works have been carried out with great care and attention to details, to return the village to its former glory. There are no shops here but there is a bar restaurant that serves up local dishes such as game, wild boar, and goat. In the whitewashed village of Frigiliana, well worth a visit, you will find a wide selection of shops, tapa bars, and restaurants. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic spot, then you may also visit Nerja (9 km) where you can enjoy its beautiful beaches and take a dive in the Mediterranean.

A beautiful villa in a lovely location. The pool was fabulous and well used throughout the stay. You might want to hire a car with a bit of oomph to get up to the villa. Lovely night sky for stargazing. Certainly somewhere we would like to stay again.

We had an amazing time at this place. It is exactly what we love, very private, surrounded by nature, close to town by car if needed. Everything what you need is on the property, every day it is possible to eat in a different corner with a different view. Love the garden, the details of the place. I recommend it for the people who like peace and quiet, relaxing atmosphere in a feel like home surrounding.

Tranquil and beautiful place nestled away from tourist and noise, but also close enough to head to the beach or into town whenever we felt like it. Just what we wanted. The pool area overlooking the valley was stunning, and the house had all necessities. Ps: a car is needed.

We have just had the best holiday. The Villa was super clean with amazing outdoor space! The photos just don’t do it justice. It’s private and peaceful, set in beautiful scenery. Lovely to have Frigiliana a short drive away for meals out and wandering around the shops. We loved walking to the restaurant in The Lost Village. Everything was thought about on this holiday with lots of care and help from Ralph and the team. Thank you! Would be back in a heartbeat!

Een super mooi huisje met een geweldige tuin en zwembad. Alles is netjes onderhouden en schoon. De weg naar het huisje toe is slecht begaanbaar maar het is te doen met een goede auto. Het went ook wel na een paar keer rijden. Je hebt dan ook echt een unieke omgeving. Ralph was erg goed bereikbaar en zeer vriendelijk. We hebben ons erg goed vermaakt in deze prachtige omgeving.

Cortijo Ricardo is a place where you van find peace and quiet. It is a windy and sometimes steep road to get there, but the location is all worth it. We were warmly welcomed, with fresh local fruits and wine. The house is perfectly clean and has everything you need. The house has a beautiful covered terrace with lovely views. You can enjoy the place in any weather.

This place is amazing - the house is great ...

This place is amazing - the house is great with so many lovely touches & attention to detail that lots of holiday rentals just don’t do but this place had everything we needed and more. It was immaculately clean and well equipped. The location is stunning in the mountains, and the gardens and terraces of the house had fabulous views and while there we saw lots of wildlife including squirrels, goats, lizards, geckos, bats and more. The pool is beautiful and is set on a terrace above the house so makes the most of the incredible scenery. We had a very warm welcome from Lucrezia, and there was fresh local fruit and other treats to enjoy. Ralph was very helpful in all communication before we arrived and was always happy to answer queries. The road to the house is steep and has some tight turns so be mindful when hiring a car, but the end result of arriving at the villa is worth the journey! We didn’t want to leave!

This place is heaven! It is certainly off ...

This place is heaven! It is certainly off the beaten track (we were fine without a 4x4) and away from the hustle and bustle, so if you want to recharge your batteries and get back to nature (we saw ibex, eagles and a red squirrel) this is the place. We had planned to do some site seeing, but in the end chose mostly to stay and relax around the pool (Acebuchal and Frigiliana were close by and lovely for lunch or an evening stroll). The house has everything we needed (dishwasher and washing machine) and was cool even in the heat of August. We met the delightful owner, who was really welcoming (allowing us to check in early) and helpful (getting us an extra fan).

The scenery was stunning whilst the farmhouse ...

The scenery was stunning whilst the farmhouse and its various terraces and seating areas had been restored with real love and thoughtfulness which made for the perfect home from home! Our almost daily trek to Bar El Acebuchal was much looked forward to (we will bring walking boots next time so that we can cross through the mountain stream to get into the next valley), the recently opened wine bar in Frigliana is worth a visit and a trip to Alhambra not to be missed! Although the weather was not particularly kind - and we probably should have taken a few more warm clothes - the warmth of our host's welcome and care of us during our stay was much appreciated, and we very much hope to return!

De plek was precies wat we hoopten: een plek waar het echt stil is, waar je midden in de natuur zit maar ook met een half uur in Nerja aan het strand bent. Het huisje en de tuin zijn met heel veel aandacht ingericht. De kinderen hebben zich ontzettend goed vermaakt bij het zwembad. Het ritje van Frigiliana naar het huisje is wel een kleine uitdaging. Wij hebben het ontzettend naar onze zin gehad.

Siempre nos habían contado que al séptimo ...

Siempre nos habían contado que al séptimo día Dios descansó, pues creo que eso no es cierto, lo que realmente hizo fue trasladar una parte del paraíso a la tierra creando el Cortijo Ricardo. En muchos comentarios se habla de los accesos ¿son fáciles? No, pero ¿alguien cree que las cosas buenas son sencillas? Evidentemente lo bueno requiere de ciertos sacrificios, y además tan sólo es una primera impresión ya que una vez recorres ese camino un par de veces, compruebas que es mucho más cómodo de lo que creías inicialmente. La verdad es que hemos pasado allí dos semanas maravillosas, a ello han contribuido en gran medida Lucrecia y Martín, los dueños de la casa que se han volcado en que nuestra estancia fuese perfecta. Para finalizar este comentario simplemente quisiera animar a todo el mundo que quiera disfrutar de unas vacaciones en el cielo, que elija como destino de las mismas está residencia... no se equivocarán.

Die Unterkunft war ein wunderschöner, naturverbundener ...

Die Unterkunft war ein wunderschöner, naturverbundener und ruhiger Ort der Entspannung. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt: das Haus war sehr sauber, es war alles vor Ort, was wir benötigt haben: von Toilettenpapier über Seife, über eine komplette Küchenausstattung, sogar Obst und eine Flasche Wein hat uns begrüßt. Der Pool und die Aussicht war wirklich für uns das absolute Highlight. Genau wie die verschiedenen Terrassen, die zu jeder Tageszeit und zu jeder Mahlzeit einen anderen Ort mit Sonne oder Schatten zugelassen haben. Alles war sehr liebevoll hergerichtet. Ralph persönlich haben wir nicht kennengelernt. Uns hat stattdessen Fr. Lucrecia empfangen. Sie war sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und es hat alles reibungslos geklappt. Es war eine wirklich sehr warmherziger Begrüßung. Für das Haus ist definitiv ein Mietauto erforderlich und auch die Anfahrt ist recht kurvenreich durch die Berge. Man wird aber definitiv mit einem wunderbaren Ausblick belohnt und ist weit weg vom Massentourismus!

C'est une villa idéalement située au calme ...

C'est une villa idéalement située au calme tout en étant loin de rien...on a l'impression que le temps s'est arrêté. La ville est très bien équipée, il y a tout sur place. La piscine est en hauteur ce qui offre une vue imprenable sur les collines. Les propriétaires sont très gentils et très avenants, nous avons eu droit à quelques petites attentions a notre arrivée. La route pour accéder à la villa est assez serpentée mais donne le ton de la tranquillité. Nous avons passé 11 jours magnifiques dans cet endroit magique. A très bientôt.
