Why ARLENE J PATRICIA WILKINSON chose Cliffdwellers
Bay Breeze was our first home in St. Kitts Nevis. Although I was born and raised in St. Kitts both of my parents were from Nevis and I had spent many happy summer vacations in Nevis during my childhood. I feel really connected to Nevis and I really wanted a piece of that particular rock with its clay soil and lovely mango trees. We will probably retire at Bay Breeze.

About 17 years ago my husband and I were looking for the perfect place to built a weekend get-away in Nevis. Having experienced a couple hurricanes, we wanted to be close to the beach but not on the beach. We found just what we wanted in New Castle, a nice plot with just enough elevation to give us a fabulous ocean view. Thereupon we perched our home away from home, aptly named Bay View. When in Nevis we wake up to the most amazing coffee and sunrise and unwind with cocktails and soothing sunsets from our very own verandah with its comfortable plantation chairs and loungers.
Bay Breeze’s proximity to Oualie Beach hotel which is literally across the street provides a whole bunch of amenities and opportunities. Oualie Bay has a lovely, lovely, lovely beach with the gentlest of swells where children make lopsided sand castles and frolic the days away. In addition to the bar, restaurant, spa and dive shop, all for adults, the water taxi at Oualie Beach makes it super easy to travel between Nevis and Nevis.
I love Thursday nights in Nevis as I get the opportunity to visit Nisbet’s plantation Inn where I thoroughly enjoy the famous and fabulous seafood barbecue where they actually serve as much turf as the traditional surf. It is seafood galore and so much more. Great opportunity to eat drink and be merry as you dance the night away to live music.
I love Friday nights in St. Kitts where there is so much to do. Reserve your 6 minute water taxi from Oualie Beach to Reggae Beach Bar in SKB where you can dine and wine or indulge in a full fledge Friday night lime in SKB. From Reggae Beach you can make your way to the well known Frigate Bay strip where there are lots of restaurants and bars to choose from. En route, take a quick stop at Salt Plage home of the most beautiful mojitos! Before heading back, try your hand at the Royal Casino where you just might get lucky!
When in Nevis my favorite place to have Sunday Brunch is the Four Season’s Hotel which is about 3 miles from Bay Breeze. So after a nice brunch, I like to take a few minutes to browse in the darling little boutique; there is always something worthy of purchasing there! Well well, Four Season’s opens on to Pinney’s Beach which is also the home of my favorite place to have a late lunch on those long lazy weekends. There are no surprises at Sunshine’s. You will enjoy the most incredibly fresh and delicious lobster, conch and fish along with the best salad on any beach any where. Delicately laced with grilled vegetables, slivers of aubergine, pumpkin and ocra scattered here and there, the salad is indeed a culinary delight. As you can tell I like my seafood, but not to worry, the barbecued ribs and chicken are also very good. But what of entertainment? Sometimes there is live music and other times it’s the Bobs et al, a little Marley , a little Dylan or whatever you choose. Sunshine’s is just one sweet smooth laid back vibe and the signature rum punch the “killable” really makes “Nevis Nice”.
