The experience of Little Bent and the surrounding area was wonderful from the moment we arrived. The four of us (two couples) arriving a little after 7.30pm, spotting the house in the dark just off the secluded road. The remote area made it a perfect opportunity to gaze up at the stars, that evening being particularly clear and warm for this time of year.
We were welcomed by log burners and a generous basket full of goodies and essentials. There was no squabbling over rooms as they were equally as inviting and comfortable as each other. Thanks to 360 views, it was lovely wherever in the cottage you were.
The cottage has a strong character yet is modest; with simple and appropriate furnishings. Living in a new build apartment currently, the plush carpets, wooden beams and log burners were a treat.
The jacuzzi bath was amazing, although I'd recommend not using too much bubble bath. All linens were fresh, clean and crisp - nothing felt cheap.
Pauline and Ray were brilliant hosts, making us all feel welcome and giving ideas on things to do during our stay.
For the whole weekend, we felt like the cottage was our home. We settled right in. It just has that vibe.
We cooked each night, all pots, pans, utensils were provided. Baking trays and tin foil would have been handy, but that is my only gripe.
Whether you are going with friends, family or as a couple, you will not be disappointed with Little Bent. Pauline and Ray have clearly put a lot of effort into this place, which would make it feel like home for anyone.
It is excellent value for money and there is so much to do in the area. We are already talking about this being a yearly retreat.
