Elmar is a large four hundred year old period cottage complete with a massive Inglenook fireplace and bread oven situated in a quiet village location tucked away next to the ancient parish church just a mile away from the sea. The cottage comfortably sleeps four guests in two bedrooms. The bedrooms have just been renovated to expose stone and cob walls and a delightful ancient fireplace in the main bedroom Its character features, wood burning stove and quiet location make it an ideal romantic retreat for couples, including those who want to bring their dog away with them.Perfect for families in the school holidays as well. Two pubs, two restaurants and a general store/Post Office compliment the village. Cubert is well located with easy access to Crantock beach, Polly Joke and Holywell Bay. Cubert however is more suited to those seeking a more tranquil family holiday with very pretty walks to the beaches including Polly Joke which has recently been voted one of Britain’s best secret beaches. Locally there are two pubs in the village including the picturesque Smugglers Den Inn, a delightful 16th Century Thatched Inn a restaurant and organic bakery. . The Three local beaches are all within walkable distance of the cottage. Holywell Bay and Crantock Beach offer vast sandy bays with dunes, rock pools and caves to explore. In between is the gem that is Polly Joke, a gloriously natural beach surrounded by nothing more than National Trust headlands with a beautiful rugged coastline. About Steve Franklin
We bought the cottage having spent many happy family holidays in the area. Recently we have fully renovated the cottage exposing a massive Inglenook fireplace complete with a bread oven and have installed a new Wood burning stove.
Steve Franklin purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Steve Franklin chose Cubert
The cottage is a second home rather than a commercial let so you will find more home comforts such as good books to read, board games and local walking guides to compliment the character accommodation.
What makes this Cottage unique
There are great local pubs and restaurants as well as fantastic coastal walks all year round
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
Comfortable and Peaceful place to stay
We're really pleased with our choice of Elmer Cottage to stay at for our long weekend break. The cottage was well appointed and comfortable in a quiet location with local amenities close at hand. It quickly felt like a home from home.
Charming cottage in an excellent location
The cottage is charming and very nicely refurbished and offered everything we needed for a great holiday.Enjoyed the village location of the cottage and the fact we could take our dog. The village of Cubert has a small convenience store/post office and bakers, which were really handyand there is a recreation/dog friendly field opposite and small park the other end of the village. There are a couple of local pubs The Anvil in the village and the Snugglers den a walk across fields. The beaches are incredible, surrounded by stunning countryside all within healthy walking distances or very short car rides (if you are National trust member you get free car parking at Holywell and crantock. Prolly joke is free parking). We went also took our 6 yr old boy who loved the different beaches, but not as keen on the walking back, hence using the car on occasions
Many thanks for your review. I have translated it into German as we often have guests from the continent:

Beautiful cottage. Prrfect for peace and quiet
Initial impression when we walked into the cotrage was 'just perfect'. Could fault it. No wifi or mobile signal which i was completely happy with so a proper rest. No complaints at all
Thanks for your great review and we are so glad that you had a perfect stay. Regarding the phone signal, there is good 4G reception upstairs but a bit hit or miss downstairs as the walls of the cottage are so thick!
Lovely cottage, great location
Had a lovely time, lots of long beach walks, everything you need in the village in walking distance.
A perfect cottage that is clean comfortable and in an ideal location to explore Cornwall
A beautiful cottage that has everything for a couple or small family to get the most out of a holiday or short break in Cornwall. Very clean and cosy accomodation in village that has all the ameneties to make for a great stay. This was the best booking we have ever made and we recommend to anyone looking for a great getaway.
Great Family Holiday
Great Family Holiday - we would certainly stay again
The 3 local beaches are all walkable from the cottage with the closest a mile away. Holywell Bay offers a huge sandy bay with dunes, Polly Joke a delightful natural beach and Crantock Beach offering rock pools and dunes. All three beaches are great for surfing and fishing.
There is a train station at Newquay for local trips. Truro station is some 12 miles away offering a direct service to London and Scotland. Newquay airport offers seasonal flights.
