A delightful cottage with very friendly hosts. The position is quite remote although only about 4 miles from Pateley Bridge. It is warm and comfortable and it was very pleasant to be allowed to walk around the wonderful garden of our host's house. It was just my wife and I staying which meant that one bathroom was OK and would be for a couple with children. But two couples might prefer two bathrooms (the cottage sleeps four). We are contemplating going back which is unusual for us as we normally try new places.

About the host

Hosted by Andy & Sue Murtagh

Host profile image

Andy, Sue & their 2 pet spaniels all live at Yates House in Nidderdale. Yates Cottage sits in the grounds of Yates House, a 100 acre estate, overlooking pasture, a small lake and the valley beyond. We take great pride in welcoming guests to both our cottage, but as importantly the surrounding area, which really holds something for everyone.

Why they chose this property

The cottage started life as a stable, being part of the original farm which dates back to the 1750's. Over the years, various owners have developed the stable into a single storey 2 bedroomed home. After we moved to Yates House in 2008, we decided to fully refurbish the cottage as a dedicated holiday let and the work was completed in 2011. It has flourished ever since.

What makes this property unique

As it is within the grounds of our home, we naturally think it is ideally located for those who want to enjoy a rural retreat, but to be only 20 or so minutes in different directions from Harrogate, Ilkley, Skipton, Pateley Bridge, Grassington, Ripon and the many, many attractions they offer makes it an ideal base.
