Peaceful Mountain Retreat on Walker Creek

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type house

About the property

Great family getaway, close to Virginia Tech, Appalachian Trail, Cascades

There is something about a clear mountain creek that brings back memories of simpler days and reminds us of the timeless joys that can be found in ordinary moments- wading barefoot into the cool water, skipping rocks, learning how to fly fish, tubing downstream on a sunny day, or swapping stories on the porch over a cup of coffee. Scenic Walker Creek, the largest tributary to the New River in Virginia, is a wide creek that winds through forests, pastures, and mountains on its journey to join the river.

Walker Creek Crossing offers all the modern amenities to make your stay comfortable as well as the enduring charm of a country retreat. The spacious kitchen and dining room overlook the water and are designed for sharing meals with friends and family. Downstairs, the game room is a favorite gathering place. Walker Creek Crossing is a short drive from the Appalachian Trail, Cascade Falls, birding trails, and some prime spots for canoeing and kayaking. At just twenty-five minutes from Radford and Blacksburg, guests can enjoy a peaceful escape to the quiet countryside while still having all the convenience of nearby dining, shopping and activities.

Walker Creek Crossing is a great place to get together and return to the simple joys that turn ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

Friendly pets will be considered for an additional fee.

Memorial Day weekend

  • 5 of 5

Your retreat on Walker Creek was the perfect recipe for our family gathering. There was plenty of space for us all to reconnect without being on top of each other. The home was cool, clean and comfortable. The yard was great for wiffle ball and the creek provided a lot of catch-n-release fun for us. The street out front was quiet and it provided a nice jogging road. The grocery store was not far away for supplies either. Cascade Falls provided a day of scenic hiking for us as well. We highly recommend this retreat to anyone who enjoys quiet beauty.

Excellent Location for AT

  • 5 of 5

Three of us enjoyed our stay here while doing day-hikes on the Appalachian Trail. The house was well equipped and clean. Megan was easy to deal with and quick to reply when we had questions. Highly recommended.

Walker Creek WOW!

  • 4 of 5

The Walker Creek rental home was stylishly decorated. Lovely colors and updated features throughout! We hosted a group family members for our daughter's graduation and each person expressed how nice the home was. The country atmosphere was lovely and quiet! The windows have screens so you could sleep with the windows open, but both the heat and air worked well. There were plenty of linens, we never ran out of hot water and the beds were comfy. It appeared to be possible to enter the water from the property and you will find a pool table, floats, kayaks and fishing poles as well as a fire pit and horseshoe pit for outside fun. The only "negatives": the bathrooms don't have exhaust fans, and the downstairs bedrooms need mirrors and trashcans added. Water pressure in the upstairs bath was less than desirable but the water tasted great and didn't have any unpleasant scent. Tough to even list anything negative since the whole experience was great! Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

Owner's Response: Hi, Vicki -- Thank you so much for taking the time to provide some feedback about your experience at Walker Creek Crossing! We're thrilled to hear you and your guests enjoyed your stay. We really appreciate feedback on what we can do to make the experience better for future guests, so thank you for letting us know about the need for mirrors and trashcans in the downstairs bedrooms. We will be adding those on our next visit to the house! Congratulations again to your daughter on her graduation! All the best, Megan

Beautiful property!

  • 4 of 5

Very nice property but it was right off the road. I was nervous because we had 5 kids with us and I wasn't comfortable with them running around the property. That was my fault for not google mapping the house though. On another note the backyard was beautiful with a picturesque view of the river. The owner was very easy to communicate with and we had no issues during our stay. The house is warm and cozy with plenty of space to move about. There is a wonderful winery only 2 minutes from the property with even more amazing views. If you have a chance please go to the Pallisades restaurant for either dinner or brunch, it's wonderful home cooked food with a great beer and wine selection and the dessert is by far some of the best I've ever had!

Owner's Response: Hi, Michelle -- Thank you for your feedback! You're right -- the house is pretty close to the road. We're thankful that the road doesn't get much traffic, but certainly understand your concern with little ones! Glad to hear you took advantage of the new winery and the wonderful Palisades restaurant. Megan

Great weekend getaway with girlfriends

  • 5 of 5

Located in a quiet spot in the country. Beautiful home, clean and spacious. Unable to enjoy the outdoors due to the rainy weekend but it would be a great place during the summer months with having the creek in the backyard and available water "toys".

Located about a 20-25 minute drive from an interesting and good restaurant "The Palisades".

Will keep this rental for future getaways.
