About Kathy Spotts
Springfield Farm has been a Spotts family farm for five generations. While it remains a working cattle farm, the Spotts family lives and works in Richmond, VA. Springfield Farm has an important history having been a bivouac site for Stonewall Jackson's valley campaign during the Civil War. The Creek House is the Spotts' Springfield Farm home. Besides housing our family of five and who knows how many family pets for vacations with friends and holidays, the Creek House has welcomed Virginia Tech families for graduations and vacations, Appalachian Trail Hikers for break weeks, College Sorority gatherings, Mission Leadership weekends for youth groups, family reunions, painting workshops, cross-country bikers and more.
Why Kathy Spotts chose Dublin
Springfield Farm is truly special. Nestled in the beautiful New River Valley, it is a scenic 11 mile drive to Radford, VA, an easy 20 mile jump to the Christiansburg/Blacksburg/Virginia Tech area, a next door neighbor to Claytor Lake and only 50 miles South on I 81 from Roanoke, VA. Nearby, explore the New River, one of the oldest rivers in North America, known for its beauty and fishing. HIke, bike or ride the New River Trail, Virginia's longest linear trail. The views are exquisite. In Pearisburg, WV, just 30 miles north, hike the Appalachian Trail. Take a trip to Floyd, VA and enjoy their Arts/Craftsmen/Musicians or plan to attend any one of the many festivals in the area. Or you may decide to stay put and enjoy the farm. Over 500 acres, it's the real experience - cattle at your gate, creeks, barns, mountain ridges, even the sound of peacocks drifting over from up the hill. During every season, the space for outdoor activity is extensive - hiking, biking, running, sledding, cross-country skiing and some of the most beautiful photographic & plein air painting opportunities imagined.
What makes this House unique
The Creek House has all the qualities of home. The interior reflects a simple country charm that's both comfortable and relaxing. The living areas are spacious providing guests wonderful flow for large groups. The dining table sits 10 easily. The front porch is ready for visiting together with a cup of coffee or sharing the day's stories while grilling dinner with cows mooing, the creek gurgling and peacocks calling. Our memories from the farm are far and away our family's favorite.

Relaxing farm house
My friends and I were on a bicycle trip in the area and loved coming back and sitting on the porch watching the cows, birds and deer. We even saw a fox. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay there again.
Beautiful unique peaceful setting
The setting is beautiful , unique and very peaceful The farm house was decorated very nicely and very clean . We had a wonderful family get together to celebrate my sons graduation from Va Tech School of Veterinary Medicine. I was so glad we went with a VRBO house rental rather then a hotel. It allowed us much more time to spend together then a hotel could. The grandkids could go to bed and the adults could still spend time together since we were all in the same house.
We loved every minute.
Felt like home and had everything we needed.
My family met here to visit our Hokie daughter and attend a VT football game. We chose the rental based on availability and reasonable pricing, and came into our visit with mild concerns about the size of the house and distance to Blacksburg. This place exceeded expectations in every way. Prior to our visit, Kathy was extremely helpful, accommodating and gracious, and the information package she provided was thorough and accurate. Upon arriving (without any problems finding the place due to the excellent directions), we were pleasantly surprised to find that the house was much larger than anticipated, and fully stocked far beyond our past VRBO experiences. As noted by other reviewers, it really felt like staying at the home of friends or family. And although the house is a bit removed from Blacksburg, the rural route avoids game day traffic and we probably had an easier drive than many attending the game.
The location and setting of the house is beautiful and serene, with night skies and lack of noise rare to the east coast. We wish we were there for a longer stay so we could have explored the area more. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting VT, or just looking for a wonderful getaway in this region.
Warm, Serene & Cozy
Talk about a perfect setting for my whole family. We sooo appreciated the beautiful outdoors and the coziness of the entire house. Thank you for sharing it with us!
We loved it
Kathy was a joy to work with. The home and the area were beyond our expectation. My two granddaughters fell in love. We would definitely visit again.
