I call this a palace because it is so spacious and yet simply cozy. It was the perfect place to come back to after long days of exploring Yellowstone. Private rooms for everybody, plus an extra living room/loft area. The third full bath was also a bonus. Everything was updated and in tip top shape. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are referring friends.
Beautiful cabin with all the comforts of home!
We had our family reunion here and had a blast. The perfect spot to relax and rest after touring around to West Yellowstone, Yellowstone, and Island Park Reservoir.
Cabin was very clean and spacious.
Overall experience was great!!!!
This house was great! It was very spacious; we never felt cramped. The kitchen really was very well-stocked--check it out before you buy groceries. And Joey was a gem. She gave very detailed instructions and communicated well. We would absolutely stay here again!
Our Island Park Castle
Always a little anxious when renting a house for all kinds of reasons but I'm happy to say this house met and exceeded our expectations. It is a very nice house with all the comforts you need. Just nice extras like fans in bedrooms and basic things in kitchen and washer and dryer. We stopped in Rexburg...came from the south...for groceries but I really think you could make do going to Robin's Roost which is just a little ways north. A great little store with all the basics and some other treasures. This house is 25 - 30 minutes away from West Yellowstone Entrance...perfect location. This is your place to visit the park! Thanks to the Balls for letting us stay in Steelhead Lodge #2.
The Ultimate in Comfort, Design, and Quality
There are moments in life when one comes upon a nugget. Our Steelhead Lodge cabin in Island Park was a nugget; a rare find where everything comes together. The cabin is new construction, designed with imagination, a minimalist touch, and total comfort. Every square inch of the interior walls and ceilings are finished in beautiful yellow pine. The living/bedroom areas have plush carpet.
The two story living and dining area is the go to place in the evenings, with a beautiful fireplace that is guaranteed to keep you cozy on a snowy night, like we had every night! The cabin also has central heat. There is also a very roomy loft area overlooking the living area. The bedrooms are comfortably appointed and cozy.
The kitchen is perfect for meal preparation with plenty of room to gather around the counter. The kitchen is one of the best we have seen. It is well equipped. Everything we needed was there!
While we didn't use it, there is a covered porch on two sides of the cabin. Very nice! As the cabin is in the forest, you will have opportunities to see deer, as we spotted on evening.
The magic; the behind the curtain wizards that make all of this happen, is the Ball family. That is what made this nugget happen, and it was indeed our good fortune to come upon it. Joey Ball is a true joy to work with! The communication, detailed information, and genuine desire to make our stay the best possible was there start to finish. We are grateful for the level of caring and service.
The Island Park area is located just 30 miles away from the west entrance of Yellowstone Ntl. Park. Island Park itself offers many different attractions such as Mesa Falls, Big Springs and Johnny Sakks cabin, ATV/snowmachine trails, boating and fishing on Henrys Lake, world famous fly fishing on rivers such as the Henrys Fork, South Fork of the Snake, Madison River and the Buffalo River. Hiking and mountain biking on the old railroad trails. The scenery is breathtaking and wildlife is abundant.
