Decided to come explore Savannah for NYE with the gf. First trip to Savannah and I’m glad we found this hidden gem! Historic vibe for a historic city! This place was a perfect location as we walked everywhere the entire weekend! Mary was a great host and I would def consider staying again on future trips to Savannah.

This apartment is decent if you are not planning on staying for an extended amount of time, if you're planning on eating out for every meal and/or if you aren't planning on spending a lot of time in the apartment.

My boyfriend and I have stayed in multiple VRBO's around Savannah's Historic District and this is by far the worst one. The only thing we somewhat enjoyed was the location.

For starters, the kitchen was not stocked with anything besides a couple sets of silverware and wine glasses. We were provided with a tiny saucepan, a fry pan and one dirty baking sheet. No measuring cups, strainer, heating pads, spatulas, mixing bowls or anything a basic kitchen should have. Also, the oven and stove barely work.

The tap water also made my boyfriend and I sick, so bring a case of bottled water.

You could hear everything from the floor above, the ceiling was poorly insulated. There was also barely any lighting in the whole apartment besides maybe 1 or 2 track lights. The furniture was dirty and had holes in it.

There was also a faulty lock on the door so we were locked out of the apartment numerous times.

Also if you enjoy doing your own dishes and taking out the trash (with your OWN trash bags because there weren't any in the apartment), this may be the place for you. Most VRBOs have these things included in your payment. But I guess this one doesn't.

We stayed in this apartment over Christmas and must have accidentally gotten a piece of scotch tape on the table (from opening gifts) to which my boyfriend received a rude call from the property manager about- as well as a stain on the couch we got blamed for even though we didn't sit on the couches because they were dirty? Don't put a table that you care about in an apartment that complete strangers are going to live in and use if you're going to get upset about it. Accidents happen.

Owner's Response: This apartment has been a vacation rental or B&B unit for 22 years. The owners live above. While we knew we would likely get a retaliatory review such as this one, we could not help but let this couple know that the way they left the apartment was something they needed to think about and never repeat. This young woman may imagine that other rentals "include" washing unlimited dirty dishes, as she assumed ours did, but anyone reasonable will realize they do not. I hesitate to describe the amount of trash, spilled wine, beer cans even hidden up along the top of the shower, 2 cubic feet of putrid dirty dishes, abandoned decorations, etc we had to clean up. I would not want potential future guests to think the apartment won't be back to its normal clean condition when they arrive based on this fluke story. We threw away the sheets, and took 2 days to bring this apartment back to normal during a busy holiday travel season. Thankfully we know this was rare and do not expect to see another situation like this for another 22 years. We have unlimited trash bags right outside the living room door in the laundry room. Any guests who have questions about finding what they need can call or email and we will reply right away. We would even bring measuring cups if we do not have them in a kitchen and guest needs some. Communication is key and respect is thankfully the norm, just not what we saw here. It is only logical that the maid's scope of work must be standardized so each checkout has the same laundry, dusting and sanitizing routine. That is why we have a clear and simple checkout procedure in the rental agreement and house notebook. If the maid had to expect a checkout like this one we would have to charge three times as much as a maid fee.

Enjoyed our stay in historic district. Good restaurants nearby. My wife thought the furnishings were beautiful. Did have trouble with a leaky faucet on the washing machine.

Perfectly Quaint

We loved this apartment. It was close to everything we wanted to see. We had no difficulty in obtaining the access code. All went so smoothly, we had no need to contact anyone after we arrived. We did by chance run into the owner who recommended a great place to eat. We would definitely return to this apartment.

Not for me

  • 3 of 5

The location was great for us, and there was plenty of space in the unit, however, we have never stayed in an historical home before and did not know what to expect. I can now say that this type of home was not for us. If they could get better water pressure in the shower and sound proof the bedroom and put a more comfortable mattress in there, we might stay there again. But it was just way too noisy for us to get a decent night of sleep. We were out and about all day and really only used the unit to sleep and shower. That's why these things stood out to us so much. I think overall this place could be great, but I'm not sure with it being an older home if these issues could really be addressed. If you are a heavy sleeper then this place should be no problem. Also, parking was very easy to get close by, at times right in front of the unit.
