About Dave McKay

I have always enjoyed freedom and the outdoors and adventure starts in this part of Utah

Dave McKay purchased this house in 2011

Why Dave McKay chose Thompson

This property is for those who want peace, quiet and lots of freedom. The best dinosaur tracks in the world are a nice little 11 mile ride to the south. 4500 year old Indian paintings are just 3 miles north of town. A lot of wildlife passes through the little town, including herds of antelope and deer. Black bear has been spotted in town and there is a herd of buffalo in the nearby Book Cliffs. Moab is just 30 miles to the south , so if you get lonely for heavy traffic and lots of people, it's a relatively short drive.

What makes this house unique

This property is surrounded by hundreds of miles of ATV trails that can be accessed from the front door . In 2012 myself and 8 others rode our ATVs from the front door to Arizona (504 miles one way ) and never crossed private property. In 2014 we rode ATVS from the front door to Wyoming ( 384miles one way)

It was a great time by all.

  • 5 of 5

We had three couples that stayed and went four wheeling. It was nice to come home from a long day on the trail . Which it felt like. Home!

This place was really nice inside.

  • 5 of 5

We were surprised with how nice it was inside. Train was definitely close and since there's a stop sign right there they honk. But it wasn't too bad and my little boy loved watching the train.

Our Adventure Headquarters

  • 5 of 5

First off the property is not in the RV park but a small jaunt away. It is a double wide home but is not a compromise what-so-ever. It is spacious and designed really nice, easy to clean. A lot of places we have rented has been very chintzy about supplies such as towels or toilet paper but this property is well stocked with more than one would expect. Prior reviews talk about the rails right up on the property, but there is the front area of the property, a road, an easement ( with the prairie dogs), then the train tracks. I did not even hear the first train go by as my wife mentioned it had. Moab and the National Parks are less than thirty minutes away.
